I am a poor working class person and I ordered one last night.. for edc I know it isn't the greatest but definitely seems a good choice with my limited options.. I was about to finance a Benchmade 940 but I realized this one is more practical for nearly anything

It isn't the greatest? Yes it is! You won't find a better knife. You can talk about your full tang $300 bs benchmade bla bla bla knives. They're crap. This is the one to go with.

You made the right choice, the Kansbol is one of Moras best knives. Unless you lose your Kansbol, it should outlast you. Benchmade knives are overrated, I sold both of mine.

You made the right choice mate.
Im a knife collector and over the years I have bought knives that were apparently "better" or "higher quality". But now I know a bit more about what makes a knife truly great, as opposed to fashionable, I have come full circle and started appreciating how awesome Mora knives are, especially the Kansbol.
Its a Morakniv. Made by design to be the absolute best bang for your buck tool, built in one of the most hi-tech knife factories on earth, using insane levels of scientific precision.
With a Mora you pay for 90% knife, 10% their profits.
With lots of knives you are paying for advertising, marketing, profits, and what you end up with is a piece of crap that looks insanely cool but was prefabbed in China.
Trust me ... I imported an Ontario RAT-7 from the States. Two years later found out that it might be part of a batch they outsourced to a Chinese company that used pot metal and didnt temper the blade correctly. It might shatter at any point.
Mora delivers consistent quality. You made the right choice mate.

I agree with your comprehensive review. I would estimate that 90% of knife buyers in this category are not hardcore bushcrafter or primitive firemakers, so that the Kansbol, for price vs quality, along with most of the Mora line will be excellent performers & cherished additions to anybody's kit.

The Kansbol is a fantastic knife. It’s great for a camp knife, food prep, bushcraft and hunting knife. I used mine this year on my elk hunt and it did an excellent job skinning and field dressing my elk. The thinner beveled tip was great for getting in along the spine to remove the backstraps and while not ideal for caping it still gets the job done. I did have to resharpen a couple times though as the coarse hair and thick hide of elk is very hard on your edge.

Or did the knife get really blunt.
Ps. When I use my mora's, I never let them get too dull.

      Just a couple of companions.

On my Kansbol (and Terrasour) I replaced the leather belt loop with a plastic clip so I can remove it without taking my belt on and off. Makes it easier to sleep at night as I am a side sleeper...
Also I can now wear it no matter what pants I am wearing or if I am not wearing a belt, sweat pants, swim trunks it doesn't matter.

As a farmer this kansbol is a great knife for me. Some people say it's a good beginner's knife, but I don't agree with this statement. Beginners will beat the crap out of this fine tool...it's cheap but not that cheap, plus it's a shame to abuse a quality tool! One of those cheapest mora knifes is much more appropriate for inexperimented newbies.

    👍 Good review.
I have owned all 3 knives used in your comparison.
To me the Bushcraft Black was a disappointment, as you mentioned the handle is odd.
I feel the Condor is an excellent option to the Garberg.
To me the advantage of the Kansbol is 1) the dual grind of the blade which I do feel gives it more functionality, 2) the handle is ergonomically one of the best production handles I have ever used, and 3) I am a big fan of orange handles. In a perfect world the knife should be in your hand or the sheath, but it is not a perfect world and Orange is easier to spot in the wilderness than black or green.
I think as a group we have become too thrilled with “super steels”. Properly heat treated I have never had a knife steel refuse to cut. Plus ALL knives do become dull (generally at the most inconvenient times) and I prefer steels relatively easy to sharpen in the field. I do wish the Kansbol did come with a carbon steel option.

    • @TheDavewatts

I actually think it being made in stainless makes it more versatile, I know the argument about striking flint but if your prepared enough to carry a knife surely you can also attach a ferro rod or carry matches or a lighter. This steel sharpens really easy and razor sharp to, and being stainless better for working in wet conditions, salt water without worrying.

@@ROE1300 I never said otherwise, I like carbon steel knives myself but I think the stainless steel on this particular knife lends itself to more uses, less care needed in the field when cleaning fish, cleaning the knife after using it for skinning or wet weather conditions. @@ROE1300 I understand that, I have never had a problem looking after my carbon steel knives, I always have a rag to keep them dry and an old oil bottle from a British army 303 rifle filled with baliston oil, but living in the UK the rain can be pretty relentless and so it's nice to have a decent stainless steel Which I believe these to be, I would have thought they'd have made a carbon steel version by now myself, you never know maybe in the future
Although they'd probably slap a hefty price tag on it to pay for the machine to make them.

1962 I was bumming around europe and tool a job in Sweden, a old carpender used a mora knife with a hammer for cutting jobs .he was an artist I couldn't believe that knife could take that abuse. He said soft steel laminated over high carbon was the secret. Latter in the early 60 s I took a job on a swedish ship and every sailor carried a mora knife. Mora's are good knives. They aren't axes. Why anyone would go bushcrafting and not have a small axe in their pack is incomprehensible. If you know you're going to chop wood, bring a tool for it. A knife isn't it.
