I’m still trying to justify the need the pay the price for a projector screen when I can just buy a 100 inch Oled tv.

Ahhhh, this whole setup is about $10K with the cabinet, the projector, and the screen. A 100 inch OLED tv is about $25K. That;s a big difference

Does the heat from the projector get blocked on the side?

The heat emission from a projector and its directionality depends on the projector's design, including the placement of its cooling system and exhaust vents. If the vents are on the sides, the heat will be expelled sideways, the heat emitted by the projector is more or less blocked by the sides, but since the sides are not completely compact, there is still room for heat dissipation.
