The blueprints of the arc-reactor in the beginning had Tony's and this guys's dads' name on it... Hinting that the two fathers were colleagues at some point in the past and developed this together.
Fun Fact: The actor that plays Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) and the actress that plays the blonde journalist Christine Everhart (Leslie Bibb) are married in real life.
Quickly becoming one of my fave reactors! Band of Brothers, the MCU, cant wait to go on the journey with you. You are picking up on all the right things and I love it. Thanks for the content!!! 😊
Heya Kali, thanks for a great reaction to Iron Man 2. The MCU movies are just a little popular so I've seen lots of reactions to them and you're picking up on different things and highlighting different elements... you're a great reactor, thanks for doing what you do.
What a perfect sequel. To take all the lore from the last movie and Tony’s origin story of becoming iron man and expanding it like they did here was amazing. This, and Terminator 2 are up there for some of my favorite sequels in a franchise Hammer was such a perfectly acted / written villain with how easy he is to hate. Literally the first scene with the two of them together and I’m hoping for Vanko to beat him up 🤣 Also, gotta say all the interactions between Tony and Senator Stern is pure gold. I wouldn’t have guessed that the most I’d laugh in an Iron Man movie so far is during a senate hearing I love the duo fight scene with Tony and Rhodey against the drones in the dome so much! Finally seeing them actually work together in combat after two movies of teasing it is so good. Also, the sound design on Rhodey’s arm guns is soooooo good, omg, I need to fire those things in a video game hahaha Great reaction! These MCU reacts have been so much fun to watch
Sam Rockwell (as Hammer) is exemplary in every role he plays. One of the finest character actors in Hollywood beyond question. However, my favorite role of his is as the lead opposite Anna Kendrick in Mr. Right, quite possibly the oddest romcom I have ever seen. Word.
Here in Silicon Valley this is our favorite Iron Man movie. It’s got everything we love software development, hardware development, intelligence, creativity.
"Well, he's lost his House"... He's Tony Stark! He may have to dip into petty cash to replace everything, no problem. and in the Meantime, he'll have to decide which of his other 19 Mansions he'll have to stay in.
19:22 That little tease with Captain America’s shield was such a fun moment. By this point, audiences knew these films would build off each other and to look out for Easter eggs hinting at the next films. It was a big shift from past Marvel movies, which were all disconnected due to legal rights. There were planned cameos, in the past like Wolverine having a planned cameo in Spider-Man 2 (2002), but they never happened. It's a shame because I can totally imagine a world where the X-Men, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and the MCU all overlapped with Easter eggs and references, especially during those early MCU days. I grew up on the 90s Marvel shows like Spider-Man, X-Men, and Fantastic Four and they all featured cameos and references to the greater Marvel Universe. Spider-Man even had a crossover epiosde with the X-Men, same voice actors and everything connecting the shows together. Now, Marvel are trying to find find creative ways to introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU in ways that make sense, especially after 16 years of MCU history with no appearances from these two iconic teams. But I'm super excited for Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) and the whole idea around that film.
The shield is something a set dresser stuck in the background of Iron Man 1, in the “This isn’t the most embarrassing thing you’ve caught me doing” scene. Naturally fans spotted it, and started speculating, so they gave it a more prominent place in this movie, only to have Tony use it as a shim. It’s not the real Cap shield.
*War Machine:* James Rhodes made his first appearance in Iron Man #118 (October, 1978) and would later take up the mantle of Iron Man in Iron Man #170 (February, 1983) with a really cool cover art depicting someone taking off the Iron Man helmet with their face covered by shadow. Tony was going through alot, deep depression and is in an extreme drunken state. So Rhodes takes up the mantle of Iron Man for a few years with Tony later returning in Iron Man #191 (November 1984) wearing his first suit (Showcased in the first Iron Man movie) to help out Rhodes and later wears a silver Iron Man suit while Rhodes wears the Red and Gold. Then in Iron Man #200 (August 1985) Tony finally returns as Iron Man with a really cool Red and Silver suit called The Silver Centurion. It also had a triangle arc reactor on the chest similar to the reactor on Tony's new suit during 3rd arc of the film. Years later Rhodes becomes War Machine in Avengers West Coast #9 (March, 1993) and ever since then he's been known as War Machine. For the movie they pretty much just skipped Rhodes taking up the mantle of Iron Man and went right into him becoming War Machine a choice I don't mind at all. But I also do like the idea of someone else taking up the mantle of Iron Man it's just difficult to picture anyone else than Tony Stark behind the suit. *Nick Fury:* Nick Fury was first introduced in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (1963), set during World War II. He later became a key character in the Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. comics, set in the modern "Age of Heroes." The version we see in the MCU is based more on the Ultimate Universe's Nick Fury, who debuted in The Ultimates #1 (2002), where he was drawn to resemble Samuel L. Jackson. This resemblance led to Jackson ultimately portraying Fury in the MCU. In response, Marvel's Mainline Comics introduced Nick Fury Jr., who looks more like Jackson’s version. Some fans speculate that the MCU’s Fury could be Nick Fury Jr. since he never fault during WW2, though this has never been confirmed.
They changed the James Rhodes actor because Marvel breached the contract. Terrence Howard's contract for Iran-Man 2 was a $5 million guarantee. Marvel informed him they were only going to pay $1.5 million. So it ended up in court.
Yeah, when you go back and watch the movies again, it's so cool how many Easter eggs are given for the next movie(s)... Fury talking about something going on in the SW and then Coulson saying he has to go to New Mexico!
24:45 There is a real arboretum within the Queens Zoo at Flushing Meadows Park in New York. It was built as part of the 1964 New York World's Fair. However, it looks very little like the Oracle dome portrayed in this film. The filmmakers took elements of real-world Flushing Meadows (like the Unisphere, the large metal globe, and the New York State exhibit, the large area with the towers where the 'center stage' was portrayed) and combined it with movie magic to create the Stark Expo. The New York State exhibit hasn't had glass in the suspended ceiling since around 1980 when the last of it came down and the elevators to the towers haven't worked since shortly after the fair closed in 1965.
So pretty sure what Rhodes and The US Military did with the War Machine Suit was illegal. They took one company's proprietary technology (Stark Industries) and gave it to their biggest competitor (Hammer Industries).
Yes, but the government decides what's legal. Anything they can remotely justify as being for "the general welfare" of the country, they figure they have the authority to do it. To fight that, you have to take it to another branch of government, the judicial system, and hope they agree with you. GO VOTE!
"Imminent domain", "greater good", "for the betterment of all", "best for the nation". [Jerking off gesture] And disagreement results in being stymied in court until you're destitute, being ridiculed in the media as a lunatic or anarchist or some other way of permanently besmirching your name, or I guess they you could just die in an "accident". Who's going complain or contest it? It's not like anyone gives a shit about their neighbor and fear keeps everyone compliant. They can do whatever they want. Voting is blue on black.
Hello, Kali. Mickey Rourke as Whiplash is probably one of the best updates of an Iron Man villain in the MCU. Your reaction to this movie was perfect except for leaving out the Stan Lee cameo that Your fans look for. In every MCU we wait to see the reactors give a shootout to the great man. And shoukd make your reactions about 5 minutes longer, that would mean more time for us to gage your reactions better. And spend more time with you. Thanks for listening. Keep going and enjoy the movies.
Terrence Howard is so far beyond insane that it's actually scary how people let him on podcast to share his absolute psychosis of a "new geometry" or whatever. It's actually terrifying to see famous people be paraded instead of treated.
just a thought, early access is one of the main reasons I and a lot of other sub to Patreon for these type of movies. It might be a good idea to knock out a couple of films at once so you can offer early access and get a higher chance of people subbing! Love your reactions!
Kali, do yourself a favor and find the Marvel One-Shot "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer." It is a short clip that features events taking place in New Mexico just a night or two before Agent Coulson gets eyes on it. Clark Gregg gets to do some badass stunt work on camera, and it'll make you smile. 😃
I was waiting for this one, I really like the Iron man movies, I'm pretty excited about this journey with you on the marvel studios franchise! Keep going Kali!
1:37 "Scarlett Johansson ... uh la la" 😂 I love your reaction. 2:24 "He kind of reminds me of a cooler Elon Musk." * with Tony's voice * : A much MUCH cooler version. 2:48 "Still cocky." Told ya. 😁 4:11 "I love their chemistry." Yeah, it's brilliant. 6:58 "So he's like still continuing to flirt with other ladies. So I guess Pepper Potts and him are not going to have a thing after all." Not so fast. Tony Stark obviously isn't a "focus on only one woman blending out all the rest" kind of man. Flirting is his second nature. That does not mean he can't love someone deeply. He just laid his legacy into Pepper's hands. What do you think that means based on what you've learned about Tony's personality so far? 7:03 I love it, when a director gives the actors a chance (... and challenge ...) to convey everything that's needed to (not) be said without even a word. 🌟 Well they added a "What?", but that's not really there for anything more than to end the moment. 7:21 * Instant incapacitation * Welcome Natasha. 😀 "I want one." 😂 20:50 "The writing!" Yeah, really good. 23:47 "I got him!" I love the comedy in these movies. 26:53 "They are so cute together." Yep. 🙂 27:58 "I love these Marvel movies so much. The way that they connect to one another is amazing." And they get more and more connected as you progress through them. 🙂
7:43 Why did Elon get a cameo? It seems that it was the deal for letting Marvel film the scene of Hammer and his "Iron Man Suits" (drones) at SpaceX factory. Even the workers were in the place as extras.
Good Morning Kali…I enjoyed your reaction to Iron Man 2. Robert Downey Jr. does an awesome job by playing Iron Man. Can’t wait to see what marvel movie will you react to next. Keep up the amazing work and you look pretty. Have a good day today and enjoy your Sunday. It’s almost Halloween! 🎃 👍💯
Remember in the first movie the soldier makes the ✌️sign now Tony does it especially when taking pictures like they were doing in the beginning of the first movie
I don't know if the reviewer noticed the scene with the kid and Stark protects him during Expo attack, was the down the road future Spiderman. Peter parker. You only have 18 more movies to go.
All these movies are pretty good the Iron Man movies, I been watching your Red Dead videos, excellent! A movie request you might enjoy “The Long Riders” 1980, saw at the theater, it’s about Jesse James and his gang, excellent movie that you will enjoy since you are enjoying RDR, thanks Kali!
It will be a long time from now but say a year??? Down the road we will have to go backwards and watch X-Men, X-Men 2, X-3: The Last Stand & all the Wolverine movies before we watch Deadpool.
When you take the Human Element out of Battle, What do they fight? In Machine vs. Machine, the highest Tech will win, but things like "Collateral Damage" and "Innocent Civilians" become meaningless. And because of the First Iron Man, Tony knows that if the Military gets his suit, they'll make 100's more... And After Stane's selling Tony's Tech to an Enemy, Tony doesn't want to risk it. Imagine an "Iron Army" vs. Another "Iron Army"... the entire planet could be wiped out or enslaved.
Your not going to believe how good the mcu gets if u think this writing was great!! Btw it was really good but there are movies coming up that are just legendary in comparison
Musk had a cameo because they used one of his factories as a set for Hammer Industries. As for Tony being the cooler Elon? Well, Tony is like 1000% smarter than Elon, on top of being cooler.
@@Educated2Extinction Yeah but he's a legit nutball. He thinks 1 x 1 = 2 and that he's discovered new equations to remake the galaxy without gravity and all kinds of crazy shit.
@@DudeLongcouch I'll take that over a prima donna who makes life miserable for everyone on the set, or someone who shows up wasted or sexually harasses others. Payroll could be challenging, depending on how his math works.
Tony was always going to make pepper CEO and give Rhodes a iron Man armor but instead of talking to him like a normal person saying he's his friend and he's the only one he trusts with it.Tony put Rhodes in a situation where he had to prove himself worthy of it which broke Rhodes trust of Tony.
Yeah this was long before Elon Musk became... cringe. Times have certainly changed since 2010. No chance he would ever get any association with Marvel today. He's more like Justin Hammer at this point.
So far pepper has defeated the main villains of both iron Man movies. Peppa killed Obadiah stane AK ironmonger buy overloading the Arc reactor in Stark facility. Pepper got Justin Hammer arrested who was the main villain of iron Man 2 and not whiplash. At the very beginning of the movie Hammer was trying to get the government to take Tony suits. Justin broke Ivan out of prison while also providing him a army of drones. Then he gave Ivan access to the Mark II iron Man armor and if you add all that up he's the main villain of this movie not Ivan who would have been defeated in the second act of the film.
this movie has good moments but boy it has major issues. first of all, if you die by the arc reactor, you are a genius you switch to the first simple thing with just an electromagnet to keep you aliveand not poison you. and then you can be inside the suit that has already an arc reactor that isnt poison you, like the silver one that Rhoedy wears in this movie with no issue of his health. i love Iron man but this movie is bad plot wise
Tony Stark was created in the comics by Stan Lee who based him on Howard Hughes, the aviation tycoon of the 20th century. The MCU Tony Stark is, as you noted, loosely inspired by Elon Musk.
The blueprints of the arc-reactor in the beginning had Tony's and this guys's dads' name on it... Hinting that the two fathers were colleagues at some point in the past and developed this together.
Not too many people catch that the first time they see this. I didn't. And I've seen a lot of people react to this.
Mickey Rourke's character is actually a combination of two classic Iron Man villains from the comics: Whiplash and the Crimson Dynamo.
I laughed out loud in the theater when Gary Shandling showed up as the smarmy senator.
Fun Fact:
The actor that plays Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) and the actress that plays the blonde journalist Christine Everhart (Leslie Bibb) are married in real life.
Because of this movie?
@MoMoMyPup10 I can't remember if they met before or after Iron Man 2, but it was around that time, as they've been married for 15 years.
Damn, Rockwell is living the LIFE!
I love ScarJo as Black Widow. She's got a great intro in this movie, and it's not even her movie.
They waited way too long to give her a lead movie.
Yeah they changed actors because the former actor wanted more money than RDJ, and ... some other issues. Least of which is is crazy notion that 1x1=2.
Quickly becoming one of my fave reactors! Band of Brothers, the MCU, cant wait to go on the journey with you. You are picking up on all the right things and I love it. Thanks for the content!!! 😊

The MCU movies phase 1 through 3 were so so so good, ... maybe minus one or two. Great great writing and acting.
Great reaction! Enjoyed!
14:53 One of the funniest lines in all of the MCU; I always wait to see the reaction to it, yours was so genuinely funny :) great content
“I want my bird”!
“You lose”!
"I vont my börd!" 😅
It's been comfirmed that the kid in the Iron Man mask he saved is none other than a young Peter Parker aka Spiderman.
You should definitely watch the movie Oppenheimer. Robert Downey Jr. was awesome in it

If you liked the continuity thru the first 3, just wait for #23. You really need to watch all of them at least twice to catch all of the connections.
Keep watching the MCU. It will get really good.

Haven't watch this in years but damn black widow with curly hair 23:25🙌
Love your input! Can’t wait to see more reactions :-)

Justin Hammer is Iron Man's #3 villain.
It will be a long time from now but say a year??? Down the road we will have to go backwards and watch X-Men, X-Men 2, X-3: The Last Stand & all the Wolverine movies before we watch Deadpool.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yesss iron man 2 👀🔥🔥 Amazing video and movie reaction 100/20 muy Good kali linda 😮😎🔥🔥👌 como estas beautiful kali 🙏🔥😉🌹
4:43 - Dude I WISH
lol. I liked his character in charlies angels only bcoz of that dance😂😂😂
Kaliwali Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
22:51 "I could use like a good, swift punch in the face!"
I see you are into the rough stuff. Good for you for embracing your wants!
The original actor for Rhodes ( Terrance Howard) wanted the same or more money than Robert Downey Jr......Marvel told him to kick rocks.😂
IRON MAN HYPE
Haha easy button cameo
Elon got a cameo in this because he let them use one of his factories or warehouses as the set for Hammer Industries.
I'm just waiting for when you finally get to Avengers. That's when the MCU really takes off

I like Iron Man 2
Your not going to believe how good the mcu gets if u think this writing was great!! Btw it was really good but there are movies coming up that are just legendary in comparison
The element Tony rediscovered was the same element his father used to make Cap's Shield
8:45 and then I remembered Keanu Reeves :((((((
Let's goo❤
His superpower is his ego.
Musk had a cameo because they used one of his factories as a set for Hammer Industries. As for Tony being the cooler Elon? Well, Tony is like 1000% smarter than Elon, on top of being cooler.
Great reaction as usual (of course Musk is neither a genius nor a philanthropist, so there's that).
If you don't know Musk is a genius, you're out of touch.
And I'm almost sure captain america would never team up with a nazi sympathizer 🙃
@@IlNyaPasdOrchestre No idea what you're talking about. Maybe I comic I never read.
The reason they switched actor, is because Terrance Howard got greedy and wanted more money than RDJ.
And also because he's a nutball and no one likes working with him lol
Looking at absolute schizo he has become it was certainly good riddance though I'm still not sure Don Cheadle was the best choice
@@DudeLongcouch That kind of reasoning would shut down half of the movies made.
LETS GOOO hype
Marvel is all connected
U should watch Thor 1 to seen why is hammer in New Mexico
Elon Musk is more like Justin Hammer than Tony Stark
The kid in the iron Man mask is a young Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man.
Elon thinks he’s like Tony Stark but he’s actually Justin Hammer… 😂
Spiderman Tobey Maguire
“A cooler Elon Musk”? On what earth is Elon Musk remotely cool??
I think she really meant to say an intelligent and witty Elon Musk
This one
Yeah this was long before Elon Musk became... cringe. Times have certainly changed since 2010. No chance he would ever get any association with Marvel today. He's more like Justin Hammer at this point.
New Mexico??? Sounds sus

The scream at the beginning of the movie is so fake 😂
28:47 can i come in? i have mead
The little kid in the Iron Man mask that he saved from the Iron Robot was Peter Parker. The Future Spiderman.
Retroactively
@@axelnilsson5124 Yep, after Iron Man 2 came out, Marvel came up with that storyline.
@@theylied1776 didn’t they come up with that when Sony made their deal with Disney in 2014?
Cooler Elon Musk huh? Funny you mention that
Tony Stark was created in the comics by Stan Lee who based him on Howard Hughes, the aviation tycoon of the 20th century. The MCU Tony Stark is, as you noted, loosely inspired by Elon Musk.
Please react to PERFUME THE STORY OF A MURDERER….It’s an underrated movie, you will love it….
