Week 2 - Searching a Vertical Surface

The second week of our journey in scent work. This week we are learning to search with our nose. To do this we take a small vertical surface, approx 1 meter square, and hide 5 pieces of rubber kong. Using five pieces increases the dog's chance of stumbling upon one and getting rewarded which then encourages him to sniff for more.
It's a huge learning curve for both of us and for me, it highlighted how skills already learned can falter when there are numerous new things to think about! This is exactly what happens sometimes when we take our dogs to places with lots of new things/big distractions and they appear to 'forget' things that they can do perfectly at home!
