Patrick Ewing and Derrick Coleman exchange words and it didn’t look like much but the referees (Mike Mathis and Tommy Nunez) put a stop to the situation. Double technical fouls were handed out to both players and Ewing got the boot by referee Mike Mathis because of his second technical. 1994 EC1R Game 2- Knicks vs Nets.

Note that no one wanted to mess with Derrick Coleman. They stay at least a yard away from him, even Mason and Oakley. PJ Brown was also ready to backup Coleman.

DC was a badass since his teenage years. I always liked his game, but he was a bad boy for sure.

Mike Mathis with a horrible call as usual. He was not a ref respected by players at all. Barkley to this day says every ref did their job good mostly except for Mike Mathis.

Barkley did say that in an interview. There’s a show that had guest referee Mike Mathis talk about Charles Barkley wanting special treatment from refs while playing.
