- Many of you know that I spend most of my time making music. In June, I added two Ultimate Frisbee matches a week to my schedule. I’m one of the few rookies on the team but everyone has been gracious about trying to get me up to speed. So, this vlog shows some of my usual escapades on various stages & studios along with clips from my Ultimate matches over the last 6 weeks. FYI, a flick is the opposite of a standard, backhand frisbee toss and a huck is the equivalent of a, “bomb” in football :)
There are a bunch of artists and musicians in some of these clips but I want to mention by name, the ones that have sections of their songs included. At the CMA’s, you get to hear Haley Mae Campbell & Autumn Nicholas, at the Bizzys you hear, Abby Cates and Amber Sweeney and at the American Artisan Fest, that’s Frank Maroney.
I’m 18 years old and I’m a professional musician, songwriter & artist based out of Nashville. I play lots of instruments but the ones that I’m hired to play most often are drums, cajon and bass. I’ve been posting music related videos on UA-cam since I was 9 years old and began playing professionally at 14. I’ve always loved music and I’m grateful that it’s also become how I now make a living. This channel started as a combination of my fascination with drums and UA-camrs and it’s now turned into a much larger music and music business diary. My goals haven’t changed all that much over the years and stay pretty simple. I’d love to keep making music and hope to keep getting better at it.

Livin’ the dream, Mia…you’re winning the game of life…can’t stop, won’t stop!
Set scene: autumn 2022, an American high school somewhere near Nashville, Tennessee.. a Friday morning, 8:30 am, English Lit. 101, room 420.. (Teacher, Miss M) (cast the actress who played the teacher in fucketbucket video) to large co-ed class: "I'm going to hand out 20 pieces of paper to each of you; for the next hour and a half I want you to write an essay, rich and redolent in description, with the title "what I did on my summer vacation!" Teacher then relaxes back into chair, puts in earbuds and says to herself, sotto voce, "good, now I can finish that audio book!" (Student) (a blond fit teenage girl wearing a Walden Woods Project tee shirt, torn jeans, platform sneakers, an aventurine bracelet and tiger eye necklace) pops up out of her seat waving excitedly to the teacher "Miss M!.. I'm Mia, ..and well..(speaking shyly)..I'm gonna need a lot more paper!" (The class laughs and applauds) ..and scene..

Thank you Mark! my summer has felt like the start of a roller coaster, it was just exciting for about a month and now shows, tours, studio work... everything is full on so it feels like that first plunge into speed. I'm off to the airport at 3:45 tomorrow morning and back in Nash for a local gig the next day :/ Don't get me wrong tho, I'm loving it.

Very intriguing to see all the many flavors of MIA, up close and personal! Glad you are having a great time obviously, and doing so many things in your musical journey that you're enjoying. I really appreciate that TK. I wasn't sure what anyone would think about the ultimate stuff but I've also gotten to where I like making these vlogs for my own memories and enjoyment as much as anything else. I'm glad to hear that still translates into something entertaining, at least in your case :) I don't see myself making videos, music... art of any kind that I don't like as it can't possibly be valuable for anyone. sorry, rambling now - thanks!

Always amazing Mia. Love the frisbee stuff as well. 😮One thing I love so much about you is your goals ... looked back through some of your really early stuff and I think your aspiration to keep getting better is well underway. I've always felt that the true star never loses sight of the youngster who had those big dreams and that fire inside... and keeps that sense of enjoyment in everything they do. When the fame starts to overwhelm the soul is when I feel they start to become the manufactured image and not the person. Then they are lost to us. I can't count the number of artists I've seen go down that road over the decades. But when I watch you and listen to what you say I get a much better vibe about your future. You have totally got this and definitely the talent to get anywhere you want to go! There are a handful of others out here that I follow and I get exactly the same positive feeling ... Mia you don't need advice from a nobody like me ... I don't know you and it would be rather rude and out of order of me to feel I qualify to comment on your life!! all I can say is that from these snippets of your world that I'm so glad you share that I respect and admire you immensely and enjoy your work a great deal. Keep talking to the inner child... she will serve you well as you continue to prosper. You're already awesome... a fabulous musician...you will become even more so. Be you...not what people want you to be ... because this industry is a factory that takes in the product, chews it up and spits it out. Hey Andy, thank you for the thoughtful comment and insight. I actually get to see a lot of what you are talking about by playing for all these artists. The one's on labels and the ones with 3 jobs to finance their music have different sets of problems but it all gives me perspective. I love music and I'll stay away from choices that risk ever changing that.

She's a real star and a brilliant girl and I think she will do just fine as long as she remembers there are so many out there whose only interest is in moulding, shaping, conforming, image making and making the fast bucks. Those who matter are those who care about YOU and if you were lying in a gutter broke and lost they would be right there to pick you up. Everyone wants to be your friend when you're riding high. I have to say that I'm thrilled to see that you're still able to play and post your usual content. I was a bit worried that the AGT legal team would have had you on lockdown until after the finals. Congratulations on being able to continue being you and don't ever lose that.

if i end up in college, i'm pretty sure it won't be in the arts but i would find the frisbees.

Words come easy but realistic advice is mostly wishing in the dark from a distance. I can't explain it but for some reason your words were uplifting and made me feel cheerful until I fell asleep. When that happens randomly out of the firmament I can say I enjoy it, but I can't say why for I did nothing to improve you state of mind. But I'm not going to argue about something positive and with such a good feeling. Incidentally, what are flicks and hucks?

Your AGT performance with 'gone my way' has managed to bump fu2 from the top slot on your Spotify streams, so it will be interesting to see what your newer fans get into next with your music. There are so many of your great songs released they need to discover. I hope many of your other songs get a left too.
Are we too assume any new music you have been working on is on release 'hold' until you know what's what with AGT? Honestly no pressure. I know it's well worth the wait. I was just curious if that is a factor. I know you are super busy too, obviously.
I am sure you noticed by now how much of a legend I know you to be, with still so much yet to come for you. It was nice to see your work on the kit in studio. It's kinda rear to see you on a full kit. I hope you get loads more opportunists for that too. How on earth do you keep up with it all?

I actually really dug in over the last 6 weeks and put proper recordings together for a pretty big group of new songs. Now I just need to decide what & when to do with them. I never stop writing so there are always more songs. Your not wrong about no, just getting back to that situation with everyone getting back at it. Very busy but still feeling inspired vs overwhelmed. I'll try to keep it that way. Thank you Mark.

Oh my, you've been out and around playing and performing. This vlog was chockers (Aussie slang). Thanks for sharing. I couldn't help but notice at 2:30, the date you were last at WSMV was January 13th. Also, those weren't Skin Flex bandaids at 5:50. I'm guessing that those may be too thin to protect your fingers when drumming. They're better for the blisters afterwards. Keep on truckin'.

I guess because that was an NBC station they were able to get footage of you on AGT, but the rest of us were NEVER able to see it because AGT NEVER broadcast your footage. That pissed me off.

I’m proud of you but what you’re doing with music I don’t understand. You are all over the place….smiles. Good luck with all your music abilities.
I think genres are a useful tool for finding more of a particular type of music but I believe they will become less & less relevant to music fans as everything goes to single releases. I don't ever expect to stay in any particular lane with my music because i listen and love radically different styles depending on my mood and what sort of emotional fuel i need.

Just because you know you are good doesn't mean you have to leave key notes where no one will ever hear them? I don't really have a right to be critical because I can't demonstrate what I want to hear. Back To Buss. More adds seem to on your UA-cam postings. Even financial institutions. Surely UA-cam gives you a larger fraction of that penny. You have promises to keep to your mother.
ha! Nice reference to the car I need to buy :) As most of my HS friends have only weeks left before they scatter, the fact that I'm not going to college is certainly in focus for me. I do take lessons when I'm in town since my voice is the newest instrument that I'm learning. Ultimate frisbee is one of my favorite non-musical distractions :)
