I can surely get behind once a year in a certain week that's about ELE Everybody Love Everybody 💕 💕💕 but just the happens to be in line with my yearly camping trip when I'm away from civilization
I had a social studies teacher play this when I was in 11th grade, for some reason I remembered the phrase "and everyone hates the Jews", I lived in a Jewish neighborhood in NYC, and we all agreed thats how things were. Thats over 50 years ago.
I had the same experience with my high school social studies teacher in my junior year played the song in class. He was Jewish. It led to laughter but also heated discussion.
"James Gardner Clark, Jr. (September 17, 1922 - June 4, 2007)[1] was the sheriff of Dallas County, Alabama, United States from 1955 to 1966. He was one of the officials responsible for the violent arrests of civil rights protestors during the Selma to Montgomery marches of 1965, and is remembered as a racist whose brutal tactics included using cattle prods against unarmed civil rights supporters.[2][3]" ~ Wikipedia
Wow - I was just talking to a friend about this song and how timeless it is. My greatest hope is to see us all evolve and transform away from the bitterness of bigotry and the resignation that apathy drags us into. A couple of other influences of that time were To Kill a Mockingbird and Dr Strangelove. And of course Star Trek and Rod Serling’s other worldly the Twilight Zone.
irish english american here, each hated in turn. ain’t that america, you and me?! ain’t that america, sumpthin to see?! ain’t that america, home of the free?! lil pink houses for you and me, yep!
No comment can do justice. First heard this in the Sixties. This song says it all.

Bless you for posting this song, which I last heard on some TV talk show around fifty years ago and have been thinking about ever since.

Bo Burnhan before Bo Burnham
No not really, because Bo Burnham didn't invent any of things he is doing, merging satirical comedy and music is an pretty old practice.
Had the pleasure of hearing this many times before, but today I'm brought here by the movie Annette and Adam Driver.
This is an amazing song....
this song was played several times in my high school social studies class, Staten Island, what a place
