The negative impact of SVB and SI debacles has been reflected in the regional bank ETF (KRE) which has witnessed a decline of over 20%. This event has triggered contagion effects, dragging the entire market lower. However, historically speaking, a localized and narrow contagion of this nature presents an opportune time to invest in strong, financially stable companies with substantial cash reserves on their balance sheets.
Indeed, the recent market downturn serves as evidence that a vast majority of individuals lacked a sufficient understanding of the underlying financial dynamics at play.
I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day invt decisions being guided by a init-coach, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using a init-coach for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

This is scary. Rich people pay politicians to make sure they get access to taxpayer funds first when banks shutter or they're in jeopardy of losing all their money. I feel bad for the lowest paid workers that may be affected, but not CEO's. A lot of them have created this abusive corporate pay structure where they are paid 300 to 400 times above the salary of entry level workers. Most add very little value. They posture and perform with speeches, meetings, and excessive travel to provide the appearance of working hard. It's a con.
Very big con and that is why i have always maintained that people should never have their money in the bank! Get a financial advisor and even make so much more while saving!

I completely agree. I have been consistent with my profit regardless of the market conditions. I got into the market early in 2019 and the constant downtrends and losses discouraged me, so I sold off. I got back in December 2020 and this time with guidance from an investment adviser who was recommended by a colleague.

What happened to SVB is really scary, and goes to show that no corporation, however big, is immune to collapse. I have always had a deep-seated mistrust for corporations. I have plans to pull out most of my money, but don't know what to do with $350k sitting idly. I'd like to go into the stock market, maybe. Any ideas?
There are actually a lot of ways to make high yields in a crisis, but such trades are best done under the supervision of Financial advisor.

A Bank crash/crash in the stock or real estate markets has less of an immediate impact on people's standard of living than inflation or currency devaluation. That the market is so negative at the moment shouldn't be shocking. If we are to survive in this economy, we need assistance right away. The ETF and stock markets are still quite volatile, just like the property market. Now all that's left of my $370K portfolio is ruins.

I’m really worried about the current bank crisis. If a bank as big as SVB could fail, I fear for a lot more. I know a friend who is running a high-growth startup, and was badly hit by the bank run. We underestimate the fact that banks are corporate entities also governed by greed. Since 2020, the banks have been over-leveraging their assets, which was one of the reasons for SVB's implosion. I have never been okay with keeping much money in the bank. I simply invest through my financial advisor, collect my profits, which I then spend.
My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. Not catching up with her profits over the years, but at least I earn more. Haha.

The disastrous decision to repeal the Glass-Steagall Act in the late 1990s led to the spectacular failure of huge banks during the financial crisis of 2007-2008. To prevent a future catastrophe, Dodd-Frank and this Act both need to be revived right away. What happened with SVB is just the start of what will happen if nothing is done to address the current problem.
I think SVB was attempting to restructure their bond holdings. Yes, they would lose money if they sold their low-yield bonds. However, they were attempting to make up for it by repurchasing bonds on the open market at the higher interest rate.
The SVB scenario warns that the effects of the Fed's rate hikes are still being felt, despite the economy's so far successful resilience. Investors need to be cautious about the upcoming inevitable in situations like these. I'll suggest hiring a financial advisor because you don't have to act on every forecast. For a time, I've been using this as my backup strategy.
