The great thing about Gojira... at the same time the music makes you want to fight.. the lyrics are about something else entirely. This is a person leaving their body (through astral projection), leaving the confines (cages) of their mind, and finding that the heaviest matter of the universe is love. Thank you mighty Gojira. And thanks for reacting to this. I subscribed.
I read a quote somewhere on the intarnetz along the lines of, "The only reason you can use the term 'death metal' to describe Gojira is because no one has yet coined the term 'life metal'."
This song is not allegorical but literal. Jump into that Third Eye pic behind you and travel :). But for real, its about astral projection and Joe's experiences with it. The heaviest matter in the universe, is the matter that keeps the soul tethered inside of your body. Once you separate your soul remains attached to the body by the silver cord (the name of their recording studio). Some people experience sleep paralysis right before they separate... that feeling is "HEAVY"!
Where dragons dwell is such a great gojira song it’s heavy as well, not as heavy, but backbone is probably Gojira s heaviest song or maybe tied with Heavy matter. I’d check both out
Belle réaction JRV. I hope you will check more Gojira songs. So many catchy groovy Amazing songs. You'd like the gift of guilt live at brixton academy, flying whales, silvera, backbone etc..
Hi...Helene here. Wow....going for the REALLY heavy stuff! It’s funny: I just heard this band for the first time today on another channel. Reminds me of Rammstein. Both talented bands, no doubt....but MAN are they HEAVY metal! At least to me....
These guys are SO AMAZING. Even better live. When things become "normal" and they start touring, please make it a point to go see them! You will NOT regret it.
Gojira is incredible. This song constantly makes you think "it can't possibly get heavier than this!"... And then it hits you with extra atmospheres of pressure and grinds you into a fine paste.lol
Just subscribed! I love these videos. The Art of Dying is one of my favorite tracks from them too. Please react to Car Bomb, Meshuggah, Deftones, Tool! You won’t regret it! ❤️👍🏽🙌🏽
Oh, and the song is about Joe's experiences with sleep paralysis. The whole album (From Mars To Sirius) tells a story about environmentalism and the crazy shit he sees when he astral projects. It's really interesting. Definitely their greatest album.
"How do they do that?" The answer is pure technique, like myself he uses a modified vocal fry technique which allows you to get a lot of you own voice through the growl meaning you can add tone and pitch to in the way he does. It's hard to really explain how to do it without showing you in person but it takes a heck of a lot of practise to get it as good as Joe does, like years and years of practise.
You're spot on with the lyrics so far. They are big environmental activists, so they are talking about the day that will hopefully (but probably will) not come when all of the polar caps melt and floods happen. They're looking to the whales to help us fly and and help us get above the water. I HIGHLY recommend looking at their interviews and further songs. Especially live videos. 😘
Just caught this reaction. Dude I tell you what, if you're into Gojira, I'd love to see your reaction to several others. Every single one of these will knock you on your ass or lead you to other videos that will Jinjer-Pisces probably the fastest growing metal act today. Very deep rabbit hole, very large fan base. You want to get a shitload of subscribers very quick, check them out. Their vocalist, Tatiana is the queen of metal right now, and in the opinion of many , the best there is. Probably the most highly-regarded drummer ever. Applying nearing influence to almost all bands listed above, including Gojira. Opeth- Ghost of Perdition. A big pioneering influence you almost all of them bands listed above, including Gojira. Monochromatic Black-Abaddon. A newcomer on the scene. Super hot, talented and aggressive female vocalist Sorry to throw such a big list at you, but I'm certain that you will like several of these. SUBBING
For most black folks they cant get passed the lyrics/singing. Gojira is that new metal bad i been listening to alot . The drummer Mario Duplantier is ridiculously talented. His play is very melodic and musical. Alot of drummers in this genre or the metal genre are mechanical almost the total opposite of musical or melodic! Another great song to check out is silvera the power the energy they exude is tremendous man it really is incredible. I would started you on something like silvera ..because the heaviest matter is pretty fucking heavy. But dont let this one scare you away i would suggest trying them live it really gives you an appreciation when your watching them play the music..the speed and precision is awesome man! Have a great night and a better tomorrow my man! Catch ya'll visionaries on that flipside ya'll! Peace!! Richy Rich out!!
The vocal effect that Joe Duplantier (The singer) uses is called a false chord. When you use a false chord, the sound your getting is from a "second set" of vocal chords located above the glottis. To do this, you simply find the point between your normal voice and your falsetto voice where you get a lot of grit and cracking. From there, simply force it louder and you will get a false cord scream.
To do those vocals takes practice. It's about loosening the vocal folds while you sing. Try to see how deep your voice can get while grunting. It's sort of a similar feeling. Don't strain to growl when you sing or you can blow your vocals out like James Hetfield did
OK you heavy metal fans out there....Question: Who has the heaviest sound; Gojira, Pantera or Rammstein? If none of these, who do you think has the HEAVIEST sound in metal? Perhaps Slipknot?
These guys are even BETTER live. And welcome back :0)
Literally the loudest band ever and it's great

@@TheBuglemouthBass Nice Ben, and agreed. I wish we could find the right words to describe them, and I’ve been trying.

What you just wrote, is HEAVY!! The cerebral way Gojira writes music, and lyrics, resonates with my soul!
It’s really nice watching a reactor who knows about music enough to appreciate some the nuances of the art. I’m subbing!
The Gift of Guilt - Gojira, live at Brixton if you want. It's a testament to how talented they are especially live
Tremendous album front to back. Also the best heavy act I've ever seen live. Mario is a freak with that double-kick.
Great stuff man, just fantastic artists
Saw these guys live and when they played this song it literally shook the ampitheater love it great reaction
Aye bro I like how you actually know stuff about music, makes your reaction feel more genuine and entertaining, just subbed
Where dragons dwell is such a great gojira song it’s heavy as well, not as heavy, but backbone is probably Gojira s heaviest song or maybe tied with Heavy matter. I’d check both out
Bro.. Backbone...that shit does something to me. I dunno what but I've never wanted to break stuff as much as I do when I hear that song.

"I feel like I wanna fight" that's the feeling of the vocals. Then you learn the control.

Check out "Toxic Garbage Island" and "Flying Whales". These guys are crushing live too.
Ey bro i heard your intro. It's chill and groovy, I like it.
Hell yes! That's all that needs to be said
Check out some Dream Theater. They're like a heavier Rush, which I know you're a fan of. The song The Glass Prison is usually a good starter.
check out 'oroborus' if you get a chance its a good one
Best thing to happen to music in years..Gojira shreds
Gorjira rocks
React to Clone by Gojira. It’s one of there earlier songs, it’s more technical and heavy!!!!
Yessss please 😋

For even heavier, darker metal, check out Suffocation. Cataclysmic Purification video. End of the world stuff. Pure Death metal!
3:48 neck grab after talking about the vocal fry 😆
Killer song. The entire intro is in 4/4 btw, it's just phrased kind of weird
I like your reactions bro I just subscribed to your Channel
Appreciate the sub my brotha, God bless
check out gorod. all their songs are good. celestial nature has a guitar playthrough video that is nice
If you want to react to some really wild vocals I’d recommend Dir En Grey’s Different Sense or Diabolos
ur intro smooth af bro
👍🤙🔥
He doesn’t do vocal fri scream he does false chord screaming and growling and he mixes it with his voice to make that unique false chord low

Don't strain to growl when you sing or you can blow your vocals out like James Hetfield did
The song is about being in space and going into a black hole
Check out pray!
Gojira inferno live
You gotta look up death spiritual healing
Gojira is one heavy, deep, intelligent band. Remembrance is bad ass.
You have to listen to MGLA for a complete different flavor of current metal genres.
A lot of metal artists have to train themselves or have professional coaching in order not to damage their vocal cords.
Must watch Gojira live. Do Pray live from Red Rocks
no effect, just his voice
OK you heavy metal fans out there....Question: Who has the heaviest sound; Gojira, Pantera or Rammstein? If none of these, who do you think has the HEAVIEST sound in metal? Perhaps Slipknot?

you'll have to make that decision for yourself m8
Flying Whales and Ocean Planet are heavy songs from this album!!
Great reaction brother. Live! Gitta do them live! 'Flying Whales".
Whole song is in 4/4 it's just syncopated as fuck
The best introduction to GOJIRA is Ocean Planet. You hit this and it is like WTF holy shit. These are French dudes by the way
Gojira - The gift of guilt
Check out Flying whales, from the same album
Slipknot - Unsainted. Please.❤️
Sorry Braden not when we can listen to Gojira!
@@richardforbes943 unsainted is the best song of Slipknot. I don't even like Slipknot that much but that song is just amazing
