L always knew that Light was Kira, its just eventually he started to think of light as a friend, so it was too painful to accuse him. Also he did'nt have sufficent evidence
This hit Light extra hard because he probably just calculated the best thing to say in that moment. There were seldom times where Light doesn’t think before speaking to L. The kindest way to say, “I know this is BS so please be honest with me. You’ve won anyway.”
It is funny that light is like "I won i am better than you L" all with the help of misa and 2 shinigami the 2nd of which sacraficed herself to save misa by killing L meaning light didnt really beat L a shinigami did.
I always consider that L didn't think of dying as a loss. His death assisted Near and Mellow in catching Kira. That was always his goal, no matter the cost, even at the expense of his own life.
That's something that occurred to me when I came back to the series recently. L was essentially playing the game without knowing any of the rules. He was at a major disadvantage and still nearly won. I can see now that L was by far the superior mind, just not by enough.
Light has every advantage at the start. He was an anonymous nobody in a population of billions, a guy with a secret magic notebook that nobody knew about which could remotely kill targets anywhere in the world with zero physical evidence. They didn't even know what country he lived in. And yet L just kept closing in on him the whole time.
That scene was powerful for many reasons. L knew for a good chunk of the show that Light was kira, but PROVING it was the struggle. This scene was basically him admitting defeat to Light and saying he'd won, but also letting it out that L KNEW it was Light, but couldnt do anything about it.
Feels like a good place to put my opinion on this show: L won, totally. To explain, I'll cover each character's goals. L believes thet he is justice. That murderers most be caught and eliminated, regardless of the means needed. Remember, he illegally detained Misa with no more evidence than his initial arrest. And in Japan, if you arrest someone and can't get any more evidence after a certain period, they have to let you go. L ignored that. L doesn't care about the means as long as he wins. In the battle against Kira, L's win condition is PROVING Light is Kira. Not just getting him arrested. L wants proof because it's not fair if he can't. Sure, most of the world would believe him if he said it was Light due to his reputation, but that's not enough. Light's goal is to avoid detection. To rule the world as Kira until he dies of natural causes. He denies the eyes for this very reason, saying he wants to live a long life. So how did L win? Because his win condition doesn't require him to be alive. L knew Whammy's House existed, so why would he name Light his successor if he was aware of a whole orphanage of L successors in the wings? The answer is that, in naming Light the next L, he forced Light into a position where Light would either need to refuse and look very suspicious, as the Light others see would absolutely want Kira dead for killing L, or accept and join the investigation. Since Light did accept, this means he's forced to interact with L's TRUE successor, and becomes suspect #1 despite all the evidence being erased. Light is forced to deal with a new opponent who doesn't play like L does. Two, actually. And since Light idolized his rivalry with L, he totally underestimates Near and Mello, and they end up bringing about his downfall by proving Light is Kira. L surviving was not necessary. Think of it like sacrificing the queen in chess. L, the queen, is the strongest piece on the board. But played smartly enough, you can make that loss into a trap that screws the opponent.
yes and there was no scene with a church or talking to watari at that time. in the mange L didnt predict what would come to him but he knew Light would be Kira. Thats why he wanted to find out if the book is real including the 13 days rule.
The sad fact that L was going to prove that light is kira but haven’t got time since rem killed him L figured it out that light is kira and misa is the second kira But his problem was with that “Fake” rule so he was going to test it and after that he would pretty much prove that light was kira
L couldn't get the evidence and knew he had already been outplayed. He went in to his last gambit already knowing it wouldn't work and he had lost. He saw it coming, but didn't know how
We all knew L would eventually figure out that Light was Kira because of how skilled he was. Ever since L pulled the trick the day of the broadcast and found out that he was in Japan. He couldn’t figure out how Light was doing it and knew there was a chance that whatever it was he was using had the chance of killing him. He was revealing the advantage, that Light had over him. Therefore, he knew that he may be doomed. It was an “Okay you got me” kind of moment.
When L saw Light pick the note up, his expression gives it all up. Also, when Misa meets Remu again, and gets told light is Kira, she begins to obey him, and L also makes weird expressions when it happens

But at the same time, the dude was crazy and his personality really made him horrible. I mean, if he truly only cared about this ideal world that he envisioned and wanted to make the world a better place, he never would have fought L in the first place but he did because he cares more about winning than making the world a better place. So he had good intentions but his personality and crazy nature made him unlikable.
I mean it's interesting that light ego is his greatest weapon and weakness simultaneously it was his ego that laid it him to defeat L but it was his ego in the first place that led him to the need to defeat L.
I still get mindboggled by the fact that the greatest detective in the world was defeated by a mere high schooler not putting down L but Light was on another level .
L in thus scene is emotional in their wording. Light on the other hand even though talking in the rain still answers methodically which would profile how kira has a god complex. Of course L cannot based on these emotion of words in a court without evidence.
The death of L gave me chills. How that mf Light was holding him while giving him the evil smile and saying through his eyes "Yeah mf that Kira was me the whole time"

@@Forrest1989the 2017 film was awful, the 2006 ones were really good
L always knew that Light was Kira, its just eventually he started to think of light as a friend, so it was too painful to accuse him. Also he did'nt have sufficent evidence
This hit Light extra hard because he probably just calculated the best thing to say in that moment. There were seldom times where Light doesn’t think before speaking to L. The kindest way to say, “I know this is BS so please be honest with me. You’ve won anyway.”
And light being light he didnt care and kept up the facade
It is funny that light is like "I won i am better than you L" all with the help of misa and 2 shinigami the 2nd of which sacraficed herself to save misa by killing L meaning light didnt really beat L a shinigami did.
I always consider that L didn't think of dying as a loss. His death assisted Near and Mellow in catching Kira. That was always his goal, no matter the cost, even at the expense of his own life.
Light planned it that way tho
That's a Cop out that man got spanked light took was more risk than L did
That's something that occurred to me when I came back to the series recently.
This anime is a masterpiece.
Top 10 anime deaths fr
That scene was powerful for many reasons. L knew for a good chunk of the show that Light was kira, but PROVING it was the struggle. This scene was basically him admitting defeat to Light and saying he'd won, but also letting it out that L KNEW it was Light, but couldnt do anything about it.
I cried for DAYS after L died... One of my fav anime characters ever ngl 😔
He was a living legend
But played smartly enough, you can make that loss into a trap that screws the opponent.
that rain part doesnt exist on manga btw
Sad cuz its epic
@@LiillyMiilly The anime made an improvement here
@@Sai4651 yessiirr indeed
yes and there was no scene with a church or talking to watari at that time. in the mange L didnt predict what would come to him but he knew Light would be Kira. Thats why he wanted to find out if the book is real including the 13 days rule.
The sad fact that L was going to prove that light is kira but haven’t got time since rem killed him
L figured it out that light is kira and misa is the second kira
But his problem was with that “Fake” rule so he was going to test it and after that he would pretty much prove that light was kira
It was an “Okay you got me” kind of moment.
i could still remember the ultimate shock we felt when L dropped from that chair. We cannot move on
I cant help but think of the boy love fan comic made of them🫢
Also a few minutes after the rain scene when L is washing lights feet L says they will be parting ways soon further showing L knew he was going to die
When L saw Light pick the note up, his expression gives it all up.
Also, when Misa meets Remu again, and gets told light is Kira, she begins to obey him, and L also makes weird expressions when it happens
Less of a prediction more of an intuitive guess
The bells were indeed unusually loud
He knew him time was coming, and when watching his death scene in 2010 my entire living (filled with at least 15+ people) was silent.
Light is such a prick. I'm glad Near got him
In the Japanese live-action series when L figures out he is dying he writes his own name in the death note and actually beats Light.
live action is dumb
@noahpancakes6507 it's not the live action you are thinking off
Wait which one I’ve only seen the 2017 live version
@@Jarvisdvgnj I saw other comments mentioning a Japanese live action version from 2006, but haven't seen it myself. Just passing on smtg to help you find it
L knew Light was Kira way before that scene.
When i was watching this series for first time i really thought L will comeback
It's his emotions clouded his decisions, the one who killed him is the first person who he considered as his very first friend.
In the manga the rain scene doesn't happen. And L last thoughts were "Light yagami I knew it, i wasn't wrong but I" indicating that L didn't fully believed he was kira.
Source: chapter 58
After L read and knew all the DN rules all, he realized all Light's BS, the forgotten memories and how to kill a shinigami, etc.
Katta rahmat video jusa foydali bopti ChatGPT dan so'rash yaxshi idea ekan perfect 👍
he was not going to mention a funeral, he was going to mention the orphanage he grew up in
I literally started screaming when they showed him dropping his spoon 😭 it was so sad, all that man ever wanted to do was eat cake
He actually figured it out on episode 10
This scene went so fucking hard
L's question is deep though,
After listening to this, i suddenly want to draw.
Death note is the most underrated anime of all time
Underrated? It was extremely popular, and everyone still knows about it.
Nah, I was in school when it was airing. In no way was it underrated, it was everywhere.
If anything, it was properlyrated XD
Overrated af. Writer would just make the characters react in a certain way to make it seem like theyre geniuses but really they were stupid af. Sooo many plot contrivances
Are you watch death note yesterday
That question was spot on. I love it ❤😊
L - (legend) playing game without knowing his rules 😢
Guys was i worng the whole time when i sided with Light from the beginning like i CRIED when Light died but obviously i still was sad When L died they're the best 2 in the Movie
I don't think its necessarily "wrong" to side with Light. Plenty of people think Light was right and Light did indeed have a positive impact on the planet, there is no mistaking that.
Light always seemed sus from side, with the pauses in answering and all that.
L's instuition is unbelievable to the point even if Light just breathes he already knows Light is Kira
Just finished Death Note yesterday, it's was a masterpiece
the saddest was mikami and lights in my opinion😭😭
L Knew man that light is Kira
HE JUST CONFUSED FOR SOME CLUES MAKE HIM CONFUSED
This is not "how" L predicted his own death. It's how his death is foreshadowed and a bit of subtext analysis.
I never want to hear church bells ringing ever again 😂
I mean it's interesting that light ego is his greatest weapon and weakness simultaneously it was his ego that laid it him to defeat L but it was his ego in the first place that led him to the need to defeat L.
L knew from the start that light is Kira
I’m still crying I haven’t watched death note since
That's not saddest but relieved death
I still get mindboggled by the fact that the greatest detective in the world was defeated by a mere high schooler not putting down L but Light was on another level .
Its a pieta,cleaning L's feet
L in thus scene is emotional in their wording. Light on the other hand even though talking in the rain still answers methodically which would profile how kira has a god complex. Of course L cannot based on these emotion of words in a court without evidence.
The death of L gave me chills. How that mf Light was holding him while giving him the evil smile and saying through his eyes "Yeah mf that Kira was me the whole time"
Do not forget this is a Filler episode
L mad because he couldn’t fully prove it was him so L put himself in a position to die 🤣🤣🤣
tatsumi from akame ga kills death was one of the saddest deaths in anime history too
L has always known it, but Light was just too good at not leaving any evidence behind. That’s why this battle between them was so intense, one slip up and it’s done
My favourite part of the anime was when L ask light thag question, shit gave me goosebumps
whena are we gonna be superstars
Also forgot the part when L admits defeat by revealing himself and said “I’ve lost the battle, but not the war”
it takes a bit of the impact this scene has once you get to know this scene wasn't originally in the manga but still they're great theories
LAWLIET WON. IT'S HIS VICTORY AND HE WON MY HEART TOO❤
L was my favourite character in death note
L knew from the start he was Kira. The author said in chapter 13 that any time L gave a % on Light being Kira he was lying its always been 100%
Omg this scene! I am rolling because the memes for this scene!
It was a Taco Bell meme back in 2009 or 2010. When L says I hear the bell and then someone made the Bell noise from Taco Bell as an edit. And then we had some epic animations of Ryuzaki and Light getting Taco Bell together!
A few other iterations of this meme also had me dying. I miss those ridiculous days! 😂
I sobbed when L died tbh
L did not know Light was Kira. But He did know that no one else could be Kira… 👀
L is someone who looks at the minute delay before killing according to the usual schedule as evidence against Light after contacting him so from this you can know why .
Inoscent until proven guilty is a beautiful thing
If light make the eye deals it would've seen over a long time ago 💀
Lmao, L already knew about Light a long time ago. If there was anything L wanted to say, it would be "You ain't shit without that magic book."
Kinda hard to solve a case if the murderer used magic
