    The Pineapple Technique
It takes a lot of backbreaking labor to grow and harvest pineapples.
The whole growth of a pineapple takes 18 to 24 months.
The portion of a pineapple that people eat actually grows in the ground because they grow close to it.
To plant seeds, weed, and harvest pineapples in this manner, the workers must frequently stoop over.
Heavy volumes of agrochemicals are utilized in these procedures, not only in the open fields but also in the cramped conditions of the pack house.
Producing pineapples involves multiple steps, including land preparation, planting, upkeep, harvesting, and packaging.
    1. Land Preparation: Preparing the land for pineapple planting is the first phase in the production of pineapples. The soil must be treated, which requires applying fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. Then, they set up the beds, clean and weed them, and burn off and eliminate any extra plants; for this, herbicides are needed. Applying nematicides-chemicals developed to eradicate parasites that may already be present in the soil-as the final stage in the land preparation process.
    2. Planting: The process of planting includes choosing the right plants to employ in the fields. Following selection, the plants are given an insecticide treatment before being buried in the ground.
    3. Upkeep: To control weeds, workers spray herbicides in the fields. To ensure the pineapple has the best possible growing circumstances, the soil must be fertilized. Use of fungicide and pesticide ensures disease control. The pineapples are also treated with growth hormone regulators to stop early maturation.
    4. Harvest: Ripening agents are applied to the pineapples prior to their actual harvest. This guarantees that the customers will be able to get ripe pineapples from their neighborhood merchant. The pineapple is then transported to the pack house after being sliced and collected by workers.
    5. Packaging: The pack house has numerous steps to finalize the pineapple production before they are shipped and sold to consumers. One of the early steps is washing the pineapples in pools with chlorine. Later on, the pineapples are moved down the assembly to be fumigated with fungicides. After, they are then polished, go through a final selection, and, finally, are weighed and boxed to be shipped.
