This, along with the original Vanquish, is the most beautiful modern Aston to me. The newer ones look too sporty for my taste. I'd prefer if they kept making elegant cars and left the sporty looks to Ferrari.
Lovely car, Ted. To me this era is right before everything went turbo/infotainment crazy, and I prefer the analog nature of the DB9. It just looks right.❤
Today, I just went to check on my '76 Aston that's been in winter storage for a month. She started first time. I sat there for a while with a huge smile, enjoying the deep rumble of the exhaust note. Her V8 sounds different to the V12 in the DB9... more guttural and primal, and totally exhilarating! Then I saw this video. 12,000 miles on a car that's 17 years old? What, don't people like to drive anymore? I take my almost 50-year old Aston on big road trips nearly every year. It's reliable, comfortable and a sheer pleasure to drive. If you own a classic car, get out and use it!
Whenever I think of Aston Martin, I think of this, the DB9. Such an iconic shape and great engine. On my list of cars I probably won't ever own but really want to.
I really wanna make a compilation of all the intros where you go "from B o n d Group in Waltham, Massachusetts" playing simultaneously because the consistency is impressive
My DC5 Type R also has a "high catch" clutchpoint. I know you can adjust them, but I really like it, personally. I actually rolled my left ankle pretty badly on some ice getting back in my car and despite my ankle/foot swelling up and very painful, I still was able to drive my car home easily because of the clutch having a high catch.
These DB9's are/were going for about 40/45k all day in the Seattle area after the newer generation came along in 2016. Still hovers to about that price today, and Aston owners atleast here, I've noticed are more likely to take care of their vehicles or are DIY'ers. Despite the price and miles, they're peaches. Not for the faint of heart if you're budget conscious
Hey tedward great video i watched one of your e39 videos about the therapy drive earlier today and i went on one myself with sunroof open and windows down and wow the thing you said about the smells and noises was so correct, thank you keep doin what ya doin :)
Ted, you literally took the words out of my mouth. If you want something that rides a little bit softer. The Bentley Continental GT is the car for you.
Very unusual colour combo on the interior, I would've never thought red with brown/orange can blend together well but here it is, it looks quite nice. Another Aston to confirm my taste - those Astons from that era had the most beautiful gauge cluster there is on a car. The only way to one up it would be to get rid of those small digital screens. Nothing could beat that in my opinion.
The last time I drove a C5Z was 2005. It was a 2003 and my friend's parents won the lottery. They bought on son the Z06 and the other a Saleen Mustang. You can imagine how well that went with two teenagers haha
Tedward and I film our reviews on the same roads 😎 I’ve been watching your videos since you were just posting videos of you driving with your friends. Your successful UA-cam journey is partially what inspired me to start my own channel. Although I don’t know you personally, we have common friends and I hope to meet you in person one day. Keep up great videos, Tedward 🤝
I'm noticing it has the exact same door chime sound as my granddads 07 2nd gen Volvo V70. Both manufacturers were owned by Ford at the time of their first model year, so that probably has something to do with it, but i wonder what car that chime originally comes from.
I'd say first thing to go is the leather on the gauge cluster. it usually peels back lol. takes a long time to crack since they are usually stored indoors
@@TedwardDrives... except if one works w/o covered parking or spends a lot of time in sunny places such as Napa valley...regardless, stunning car and worth the drive.........
How does this car feel versus the smaller Vantage? I drove a couple of Vantages, and like that they feel small enough and able to chuck around like my 997, but wonder how the larger DB feels.
find a (good) friend and ask them to teach you. Learn on their car for a bit, then find you the cheapest, slowest, Mazda 2/3, Honda Fit/Civic, Toyota/Scion Corolla/xA/xB, or VW Golf and go to
Wow, that is the f0cking nice ford mondeo 😄 Oh, gosh, ford should copycat the design of this car to their mass market. But of course, the Aston Martin is gorgeous.
Reasonable money? I'm afraid that's not the case for me. 90 grand for the absolute cheapest one here - the only one under six figures! Eh. Maybe someday.
My favorite era of Aston Martin design. Timeless and beautiful
I love how he puts the same emphasis on "Bond" in "Bond group in Waltham Massachusetts" every single time.
Turning into Regular Car Reviews. That guy is hilarious!
Sounds exactly like him too
Literally perfect Aston. V12 with manual gearbox with a fantastic sound .

Maybe ohoat syd will let me drive hers

Totally agree. This was peak Aston Martin design, minus the interior bits from Ford.

well done again Ted!
Wow, that on ramp pull at 11:00. I would love to dabble with one of these as like a 4th or 5th car one day (let me dream)
One of the most beautiful exterior car, also the interior good combination wood leather, the v12 sound. And now you can get it at a low price
The key is a Tibbe Key used in the ford transit in the uk and 1990-2009 Jaguars the clicker is from Volvo. The side view mirrors are Jaguar.
The door chime also makes an appearance in several Volvos.

The wood in that interior is absolutely gorgeous.
Picked a low mileage one up two months ago every time I go out to the garage I just stare at it. The engine noise ain't bad either
Gotta love a manual aston 🔥🔥

Best automotive content. This car is very special to me
Not sure what else one could want in a modern day Aston. Gorgeous. Needs those factory 10 spokes though...
Don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I bet they are very expensive to fix when they break.
@@LexusLFA554 If you can afford an Aston, you can afford repairing it. Definitely worth the character of it.

I see LC 500 took some notes from this vehicle when it comes to the interior and those door handles

A 6 speed manual Aston Martin

special.
My eyes 👀. The red interior is beyond words 😢
It’s so good looking!
Still one of the prettiest gauge clusters out there.
We need a ferrari 328 GTS Targa drive this year!! Would love to see it! Thanks for making all these videos man!
I like that wood grain Nostalgia dashboard.
fun fact: the power window buttons are actually from a Volvo!
The door chime is too!
the first gen dbs, which is based on the db9 is the most beautiful car imo.
I think this era of Aston Martins have many Volvo parts as well, for example the door chime is from a Volvo p2 era.
Never liked the interior on them but the exterior styling is timeless...
Best car ever!
V12 aston with manual-you won't get any better.
Still one of the best sounding cars ever 😌

The electronics and probably the security system were taken from Volvo. You can see the key fob is similar too.
We have a 2007 XC90 and I too noticed it’s the same sound.
I'd love to see you drive a Nissan Pulsar GTiR, hard to find though.
When snow comes, will you get to drive your cousin in the Unimog?

why would you camp in the right lane when people are trying to merge onto the highway?
Two reasons. 1. I have the right of way. Entering traffic yields. 2. I was exiting. Of course I was in the right lane to exit the highway.
