is the iport not a continuity tester? one end of the usbc in one port, the other end to the other port, and see if there's electrical continuity and perhaps to check supported protocols?
Yeah this, plug one cable into both ports in the top. Screen will show which pins are connected to each other. may also do usb pd testing to make sure the cable isn't going to melt when you send 100w throw it lol.
The iBeacon was micro USB too, and it’s older. Super strange though, I’m guessing it’s a two arms of the same body thing, maybe the disconnected team that makes that kind of equipment decided that lightning wasn’t as easy to implement.
The model number of the clear shot adapter, A2244 is actually a valid production model code for 20W adapters sold in mainland China so that explains the lacking of the holes on the pins lol
I feel like the iPort you are meant to connect the same USB C cable to both ports. And it will tell you if there is any broken/shorted or otherwise issues between the connections. Its prob also capable of reading the emarker chip and stating what its rated for. (PD wattage, if its USB 2/ USB 3, thunderbolt etc) Also with the 20w chargers. Flat blades with no holes are common in china. And infact Apple's own 'World travel kit' actually comes with a second flat bladed head with no holes that mentions china in addition to the normal one with holes that says North America and Japan
Glad i found your channel , in the last few months i have got into the hobby of rebuilding ipods. With help from your videos and online store i have rebuilt a 5th gen classic, 4th gen mono (tarkan flash is on the way from your website, 2 1st gen nanos and have more parts on the way. Im from wichita so the some what local area you ship from is awesome.
5:14 Does anyone notice that the person shown on the SkankPhone UI was the home movie from Windows in a Get a Mac ad? No, the iPod’s faceplate is worth replacing.
@@EliteObsolete I didn’t save it unfortunately. I was just scrolling through looking for cheap iPods a few weeks ago and saw it but realized the price so I just moved on
Veeeeeeery interesting content but hey that 20W Clearshot charger was a fake-those components inside wasn't right and the engravings were also fake tho, since that some fake sellers found someone was selling the genuine clearshot prototype and they want to...

When I saw the polishing cloth, I was expecting you to say you had a DVT $20 Polishing Cloth 😭
I think the iPort is groundbreaking, it is the first ever Apple device with micro USB, to be powered by batteries and to have an e ink display!

Definitely keep all of the prototypes as original as possible. The patina on them shows that they were actually used

That one was a fake of the real clearshot proto..
Austin, you’re a gem.

The apple tv has a curved transparent prototype that hasn’t come out, they’ve been working on a real display for years
11:36 my favorite one 🤩🙌
13:57 that’s a Chinese standard version of the plug.
These look really cool! I came across a prototype iPod classic 6th/7th gen on eBay a couple weeks ago but they wanted over $200 for it
