Here we unbox our new pedal sit on top kayak and show you how to setup the hydrive 2 pedal system and the rudder! The instructions that come with the kayak aren't the most user-friendly, so we explain what worked well for us.

we experienced some squeaking with our pedal drives. Pelican recommended (and we did this and it worked) to loosen the screws on the drive a teeny bit and use a waterproof lubricant like silicone on the pedal drive.

Great video! I just picked one up. Any chance you can show the bungee assembly for the rudder? This was missing and I cannot figure out the routing for the factory bungee that just keeps it taught. Not the one that locks it in place but the one that goes around the round part of the rudder. Please and thank you!
Thanks...your instructions helped though I did the pedals in reverse pursuant to the diagram in the instructions. Hope it works OK in the water!
Glad this helped! We actually put the pedals in reverse as well at first. Everything still worked fine although it was slightly uncomfortable so we switched the pedals around and found they're more comfortable now.
Was there some adjustment needed to the drive system to make it more efficient? The store clerk said something needed to be adjusted to make it pedal better.

We didn't make any adjustments no, the pedals aren't silky smooth, but that's sort of to be expected at the lower price point I think? They do squeak though and that's something we haven't yet resolved.

Hi! We’ve used it a bunch on different waters (lake and ocean). It’s held up well. Our only complaint is the pedals started to squeak so we had to Google fixes for that. We did the fixes and are noticing less squeaking but it’s still there a little so it’s a work in progress. But it doesn’t take away from us using the boats and at the price point we bought them for (bought 2 for $3000 CAD), it is just the greatest because we otherwise couldn’t afford this type of yak.
