If people who call themselves Christians actually read the New Testament, they’d be like Wendi. "Horror is about love" is a weird statement to make. Like yeah a lot of horror clearly has social commentary in it but saying a genre that primarily relies on tension and scaring people is "about love", again, just sounds absurd. For context the predator he was referring too was being investigated by police for doing bad things to his wife's 7 year old daughter, which the daughter had reported to a teacher thecday prior.
The mother confronted him and this which escalated so she called police as he had a gun and was getting violent. This would have quickly become a hostage situation if the police did not act quickly like they did.

I used to watch Wendigoon’s really early videos, like before he was even at 50k, and I’m pretty sure he started wearing Hawaiian shirts and 90’s style sweatshirts the most because people were calling him “Dad” and those are commonly ‘dad’ associated clothing. That reasoning makes way more sense and is a lot less unhinged than whatever this dude was schizo rambling about.
I lived in the same area as these two I can tell you that this guy is misrepresenting so hard. Asheville is literally one of the most liberal places to be in the Appalachias with a deep connection to progressive ideology. Full of hippies and black history. ETSU, a university about an hour away in Johnson City, is another hub for diversity and progressive movements.
Ofc there is racism in the south, but the East TN/NC location is one of the most hospitable places you can be in the south and for this guy to literally say “you should assume everyone you meet is racist” is a wild mischaracterization of the region and shows that he is either NOT from there or that he simply lies about everything for self-aggrandizement.

To be fair many cultures are amalgamations of other cultures that were appropriated or absorbed over time but in the current day version of appropriation, it's generally a way to distinguish between taking part in/learning culture vs simply lifting cultural identity and claiming it for yourself without acknowledging its origins, but as you said it has gone too far now and people no longer know there is a difference between taking part in culture vs taking culture even going so far as to attempt to gate keep culture if you don't look the part such as being mixed race.
