I particularly enjoyed how instead of feeling that Snow was being redeemed by knowing his story, we are shown what he could have been. Tigris and Lucy show paths that Snow could have taken, but he decides to go for Gaul's worldview and becomes what we saw in the trilogy.
uh oh. now all the book readers are going to obnoxiously tell you how he was crazy all along if you read his iNnEr dIaLoGuE (as if that doesn't mean he isn't still capable of being a layered character 💀) i am a book reader too, but they're insufferable. but i agree with you!
right? maybe i’m being too hard on the film, but im surprised how much praise it’s gotten. not a HORRENDOUS movie, but felt nowhere as mature as the originals. something just feels…corny
@gretelbarreto535 i think the singing can be jarring if you weren't into the books (or even if you were into them). singing always had a part in the series, but no matter what breaking out in song is going to be hard to take seriously. plus the accent was jarring as well, but district 12 has always meant to be appalachian - they just didn't represent that in the first movies
I personally found the singing in the original movies very moving and real. It felt more genuine and appropriate to the circumstances, for example Katniss singing to both Prim and Rue to soothe and comfort them. But in the new movie, the singing felt corny because it happened in situations where people wouldn't normally sing. For example, Lucy singing after being picked at the reaping or while being attacked by snakes. The vibe and tone of the movie was completely different.@@BeautyAndOtterPops
@hummingbird1375 i could accept it bc the covey started it and the only reason lucy was in that district was to perform and she performed so regularly. that was literally her identity. she wasn't even supposed to be eligible because she was a performer and not a member of the district. and the hunger games are a performance to the capitol, so she was putting on a spectacle. without thinking about that it is wince-worthy though. i didn't love katniss singing bc it was so under her breath and shaky but i also hate the sound of whispering 😭 it was realistic though

Please turn down the music at some points it’s hard to hear you over it
rank the hunger games movies!! unless catching fire isn't #1 then don't bother
💀 but real
I have a hard time liking this movie, which makes it surprising to see how many people loved the movie.
