    Extraordinary. I’ve seen a lot of Monitor’s speakers reviewed, but not this series.

    My favorite tweeter is the folded ribbon tweeter.

    Just beautiful… every finish is stunning. I would have liked more of a sound impression and comparison, maybe with the outstanding Silver and Bronze lines. Maybe for another time! Thank you!

      More transparent, faster and airier top end thanks to that MPD tweeter.

    i bought these without even a demo to replace my kef ls50 meta ,
    they look amazing in the piano ebony and the sound is sublime ,
    the kefs do not come close to these for sound , i have a roksan
    attessa streaming amp driving these for my front speakers ,
    only had a day now and have more base than the kef , i have
    svs 3000 micro sub which i need to try with them maybe just for the really lows ...
    and now i have hear they are been discontinued , that is why
    here in the uk i purchase new with 5 year warranty for £950
    ( 1180 dollar ) best thing i bought this year .............

    Still a huge fan of EMIT. This looks closer to it than anything else. Am I mistaking?

      @GramophoneMD  3 місяці тому +1

      Hello Biliescu, you're not wrong. Pretty much all ribbon style or pleated diaphragm tweeters owe a nod to the original EMIT. Of course a lot of progress has been made in ribbon style tweeter technology since then, with various upgrades in frequency response and power handling. Enjoy your day

      Emit is closer to a Magneplanar in that it has a flat coil on a flat diaphragm.
      AMT style drivers have a folded diaphragm which squeezes air back and forth. They'd sound somewhat similar though.

    To anyone who might be able to offer input: regarding treble presentation, would these more or less be somewhat polar opposite of say a Sonus Faber equivalent? I've only ever heard monitor audio some 20 years ago or so, and we all know how much has changed since then!

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  Рік тому +1

      Polar opposite? Not really, but yes they are different. Sonus faber has an elevated mid treble and then a roll off in the more sibilant frequencies onward. These are a bit more flat across the treble.

    • @scaf_007vs3
      @scaf_007vs3 Рік тому

      @@GramophoneMD I appreciate the response as im sure you guys are quite busy! When you mention the mid treble, would you attribute this across the majority of the Sonus Faber lines? As in the Lumina line, sonetto, Olympic nova, Homage Tradition, and even their reference products? I guess more specifically I have some interest in anything from the Olympica nova up to possibly IL Cremonese but it would certainly take a bit more research on my part and more $$$ saving depending on how "serious" I become. I have Dynaudio Confidence C1 right now, which I love, but it's always nice to try out different quality brands. When It comes down to it, I'm curious about the Sonus Faber "house sound". I'm not opposed to having some coloration so long as the sound is generally transparent and faithful to what's "there" if you catch my meaning. Again, thanks for taking the time for my previous comment. Any information is welcome, and keep up the wonderfully well made and very informative reviews! Very professional and many of us appreciate when you go the extra mile to share your knowledge! Thank you

    I think that the MPD tweeter is probably the best tweeter on the market right now very natural accurate and very fast

    • @RennieAsh
      @RennieAsh Місяць тому

      There's plenty of AMT drivers available; they are mostly the same thing. ELAC, Wharfedale, Emotiva and plenty others use such drivers too :)

      @@RennieAsh actually Rennie they're not all the same, maybe you should do some more research into the monitor audio MPD tweeter and you will see that they solved the problem that most AMT tweeters have and their newest one goes up to 60Khz The second generation went to 100 Khz clean.
