The main thing you need to know, this business is not for Slackers. If you are not a self stater, keep your job. If you like, expect to be home with your family at a certain time, this ain't for you. Once you invest your money you have to keep the wheels turning to make the money. Even when the Post Office don't run, You have to. Rain, snow, sleet or hail. No rest for the weary. This isn't for people that can't manage their money, credit and time!! It can be a fun way to get to travel and make a good living. If you have small children or a new Wife, you better think twice.

@@victorgarrido9481 don't get me wrong, TQL has paid some of the best paying loads we've done in the past (mostly in a hot market), but in a market like this, they are a waste of time, most of the time calling on destinations I'm not even posted for, and if they have a lane I'm interested in, their rates are half of what I'd consider a starting point. Not only that, they are unprofessional and immature. If I ever chose to do a load with TQL, it will pay waaaay over the market price, to offset their immaturity, lack of integrity and potential problems. I prefer to deal with mature, calm brokers who have respect and can tell the quality carrier. I only have 1 truck and 0 inspections. We've been on the market over 6 years, and it's been tough, but the most satisfaction comes from making the right business partner choices. That is, first and foremost, the brokers I chose to work with.

Hello, My husband and I started a hotshot trucking company based out of Washington state. Our company is a LLC and a little over a year old. We transport freight and vehicle locally and from state to state with a 18ft trailer (now we know we need a 40ft trailer to get the job done). We haven’t made much profit yet due to self funding and in need of better equipment to increase profit. Due to little profit and income, it was very hard for us to get a loan soooo we hired a grant attorney, to help us search for grant programs within the state of Washington. We’ve got the grant, and we believe that this investment could potentially improve our operational capacity and profitability.

Johnmaker..rejection in this content means that there is contract loads( dedicate lanes assigned to specific carrier by manufacturer, shipper) also there's the "spot market" the load board we go to find loads...when those carriers contracted to those dedicated loads which they can only haul refuse to move that freight because the price of their contract has become less than the "spot rate" is called " rejection"......... on the other end when we deliver load and there's an issue with it like wrong item.over..short..temperature. damages etc is also rejection ..
But when Miranda talks about rejection is good for us not dedicated to specific route because the rejected load gets posted on the " spot market" or loadboard then we can access it and negotiate a better rate...BTW!! I find that load volume and price fluctuate somewhat intact to interest rate cut sentiment. Once everyone believes that interest rates are going down, PPM and volume goes up and vice-versa. Maybe it's just coincidence, nowadays to much emotions on the market it's hard to figure it out .

I got banned from TQL last year bc I explained to the broker that working with TQL is like having a mistress you don't tell anyone about bc of shame and only use bc no one else is around.. hands down the worst company around. If you use them talk to the shippers about direct loads. Shipper hate them as well

  • @mrbryguy5831

I booked a load today out of Detroit, after booking the shipper basically asked my broker to keep me on hold while they shop around for someone to take the load for less. My broker explain that the rate was fine and that they won’t get their load shipped by them if the driver (me) finds another load. 10 mins later they drop the rate $100 which was fine because it take me home and it has no deliver date. So pretty convenient. But wow! Never mind the economy these shippers are just as shady as the brokers are.

I do have some input I hope people can put some light on it. If load per truck is so low but yet everyone has tools like UA-cam and Social media and brags about how much they make as OO. So with that being said everyone becomes a OO and there isn’t enough volume to keep up with all of them. So the only way for that to stop is a lot of companies need to go under in order to compensate to even itself right or am I wrong?

This is at least a case with my company where 50%+ of our loads were JD meaning we had to fight it out on the load boards. Next week things should be much better as they are going to start shipping again and ALOT of carriers/trucks will be covered with those loads.

Not to mention that I had to be available 24/7 via phone(for drivers)in case something happens. It used to be 2nd shift, cause of different time zone,so I would work 14-23h. No social life, and I only had like 2 hours before going to work. Not to mention that there are so many problems I dont know how to solve, simply because I never lived in the USA.
When I started working for this company, boss told me that the things will get much better as we are close to November, because of the elections. But it seemed like the things got way worse. And now I see that it wont be any better.
