As a Chinese user who have two sets of these, I'd like to share something you need to pay attention. The water proofing for shifter is not good, so if your shifter's battery starts to drop fast, it maybe there water comes in and you may need to find your own way to fix it. Also, Check your charging port cover on the rear derailleur, it requires some attention and force to fully sitted.
Hiya, thanks for the tips. I noticed this on the rear charging port when I got in from my ride. I’ve actually put a bit of tape on there to keep it sealed.
Ali express has a hydralic hose and barb installer super cheap. Brand is Risk and it makes doing brakes much easier.
Oh cool, I’ll check that out. 👍🏼
Ha Ha - as soon as you said set up Disc brakes the we can see the realisation on your face of a pain in the balls job
😂 and surprisingly it was quite easy.
Completely off-topic: Nice to see a first-generation Allez Sprint on the Internet in the 2020s.
I think this is the 2019 one…is the 2024 model any different?
@@DaveNoakes The disc brake counterpart of the first-generation Allez Sprint was available from 2019 - 2021 model years. Since the 2022 model year, it became the second-generation, to which it's disc-only, runs headset internal routing and is practically an aluminium version of the Tarmac SL7 (same fork, seatpost & headset bearings, very similar geometry, but not identical).
Ahhhh I see. So the only difference is the routing? I do love the look of internal cables but hate having to work on it 😂
It's practically a penny farthing
😂😂😂😭
Looking great Dave I just watched another vid on the Wheeltop wireless group set pretty impressive.. be great to see how you get on with it dude 😊 🚴🏻💪 Pete
Thanks Pete, it’s definitely not as straight forward to set up as the sram or shimano…but then there’s a lot you can tweak with the app…it’s just working out how it all works 😂
Cheers! i've ordered the rim brake version, can't wait to get my hands on it.
Ohhh let me know how the brakes are!
Could you use the Shimano brakes with the wheeltop shifters?
yes you can
Apparently so…I’ve seen a couple of videos where people have. Although as the groupset includes brakes I’d just use those to be all matchy.
@@DaveNoakes I use Shimano calipers with wheeltop levers, works flawlessly
I have been using the same bar tape. Definitely a good buy.
me too lol...however rewrapping can be hard because it does peel off the top layer while unwrapping
Sure is
What bar tape you use? Can we get link?
Thanks Dave ...looks really cool !! Good luck on the test ride ...
Thanks mate.
It's looking good, id certainly give it a go, I've got etap and since installing in 2018, I've had one issue, one of my batteries snapped where it seats in the holder, but it was replaced on warranty, its faultless. I'll look into that for my old Norco Search, which hasn't been my best purchase by a country mile. 👍
I’ve also been using the older etap and love it. If this works I’ll be getting rid of the bike with etap on it.
Been using the super Caz knock-off tape for over a year it's brilliant gripy in the wet also 👍. Great content as always Dave
I’m dead impressed. Makes me realise how much of a rip off the real one is.
as once famously said,if you need the vise grip- were in trouble! nice build!
Easiest way to put a barb in
Looks awesome, nice job. Unique frame colour and some interesting parts. Be great to hear and see how it rides. Another interesting video, thanks Dave.
Thank you, I’m happy with the build. Went for a ride yesterday and still need to work out the fine adjustment on the gears but first impressions are very good.
Cheap?
Groupset is £700 compared to sram red at £4700, crank is £50…cheap compared to other brands…bars…£35 cheap compared to other brands. Tape…£3 compared to £30….chain £18 compared to £40…yes this is a cheaper build.
105Di2 on Ali is at similar price.
Hello Dave, thank you for this interesting video😉. I'm looking forward to your first impressions of the test drive. I have already pre-ordered a unit. Greetings from Germany 🙋🏼♂️
Hiya, first ride I needed to tweak it slightly…it does need some more refinement…I just have to work out how the app works etc. not as straightforward to set up as sram but I think the adjustability complicates things slightly.
How do you work the app if it's all in chinese?
It’s in English but not the best translation. There’s also less detail, it’s doable but takes a bit of trial and error.
Hi Dave. Do you have link to that bar tape? thanks
Currently £2.71 !!!
a.aliexpress.com/_EwBGOyF
what handle bar are you using?
It’s the rxl sl carbon aero bar.
I bought that bar tape too - does the job and looks good.
Very true, feels really nice as well.
Where did you get the double chainring from? I find these hard to search for as 1x rings seem to be the norm.
AliExpress. It’s the race works one, it comes with the chainrings.
@@DaveNoakes Thanks. Was hoping they could offer double chainrings for mtbs.
That looks awesome Dave!
Thank you
Really interesting group set. Will the front derailleur automatically shifts like shimano and sram does, or you have to shift manually?
Do you mean does it have auto trimming, if so yes it does.
@@DaveNoakes Thx for answering! Good to know it has auto trimming but what I meant was does the FD can shift automatically between the two chainrings for you to match the cassette? Then what you need to do will only be focusing on shifting up and down.🧐
