Nice Video. I can totaly agree with you that 2025 will be the last year for 'bigger' retailers to have PS4 Games. But we cannot forget all the 'limited quantitie' companys. I'm certain that starting in 2026 especialy LRG will make a massive wave of physical PS4 titles before the total closure of that console, just like they did with the Vita. Other companies, my guess are especialy EAS and and SLG, will most likely jump onto that 'nostalgia and fomo train' aswell. So while normal physical games for PS4 probably die down in late 2025, afterwards Indie developers and FOMO companys will serve the last couple of games until 2027 I have to imagine.
I think we're closer to the end for the 'final' PS4 year as well. I think one thing that'll hold on is Japanese games still getting PS4 ports depending on the game. I've noticed that they still have a decent market for the PS4 even in comparison to their neighbors in the Oceanic region. You'll still get releases like Eiyuden Chronicles as a retail release for the PS4 there but here you couldn't even get it unless you backed a Kickstarter. I've seen this be the case for several games. I think if you've got your eyes on imports there's still a number of years before they completely go away. Part of that I assume is the backwards compatibility of the PS5. For games that don't benefit from the power of the PS5 there's no real benefit of making a PS5 exclusive version when people can just buy the PS4 game and play it on their modern hardware. It saddens me a little but now seems like the best time to be collecting for the system with how cheap many games are. I hope that the system continues to get games for many years to come. It's not as if I dislike moving on to the PS5 but like yourself I've got quite a large collection for PS4 games and in recent years it's been my favorite system to collect for.
I would love to see your collection of ps4 games individually even if it's a long video.
