@@jasonpaulkimThere’s a video by TennisThom that explains the story pretty well. But a summary of it is that Igor and the boy go on a few dates and have had prior history, but Igor feels that he has to compete with the boys ex, seen in Earfquake, Boyfriend (which is exclusive to vinyl but also on UA-cam) and running out of time. New magic wand reveals Igors obsession, threatened to shoot the ex girlfriend with a gun, which is what is popularly assumed to be the new magic wand. A boy is a gun is Igors attempt to break free from this obsession, but followed up by Puppet which shows he is unable to do. In What’s Good, he “sees the light” and begins to recognise how unhealthy the relationship is for him. Gone Gone is about accepting this while looking back on the relationship, however when transitioning to the Thank You portion of the song, the line “Need me to do it over? Everything” shows that he still truly cannot let go and would go through the relationship again. In I don’t love you anymore, the song sounds like a tantrum, as if he’s trying to convince himself to not fall in love again. Are we still friends is his final attempt at keeping any contact with the boy, restarting the cycle of falling in love and obsession. This is supported by the final note of the song perfectly pairing with the beginning note of Igors theme when you loop the album
The reason he dropped CMIYGL is because people were doubting him on his rapping ability after releasing flower boy and Igor, so he said fuck em and dropped a hard rap album, with the good production on top of it, winning Grammys doing two different types of albums.
Im happy about it tho. That is exactly what tyler wanted for this album. He wanted people to come up with there own interpretations of the story without the influence of others.
I 100% recommend watching " A Deep Dive into Tyler, The Creator's IGOR" by TennisThom because it helped me understand and appreciate IGOR wayy more. I had already listened to Tyler and IGOR for years whenever I watched the deep dive, but after I watched it, I loved and understood IGOR 3x as much. And btw, this will help you understand what the person who said you "misinterpreted it" meant lol (you didn't really you just missed some stuff lol)
@OnlyGoodMusic_ yeah true , he was relatively well known but not globally - performing small shows in london, and releasing his debut (buwnbf) on soundcloud - i mostly meant tyler catapulted his popularity after listening to that and contacting him to feature on here which helped him to get signed to RCA and go on tour with frank like a few months later :) also, “I had 500 followers on SoundCloud at the time when I headed out to LA and nobody really knew who I was,” he said. “It made me realise that if I have to believe in myself, then someone like Tyler will believe in me too.”-rex talking to NME in 2022
IGOR is about tyler losing his boyfriend and watching as he moves on to a girl. The album shows Tylers jealousy, his sadness, heartbreak, and unwillingness to move on, as shown by the fact that the album is a perfect loop representing his unending cycle.
As a diehard Tyler fan some of the false or incomplete statements hurt a little bit. But good god man, incredible video and editing. Good job, fire video and I loved hearing your opinions on everything. ❤🔥
I don’t know if anyone’s said this, but Igor’s super cool small detail is that at the end of the album the song doesn’t have a chord resolution, but when you play the album from the beginning the chord resolves, super cool affect and some people theorize that the entire story repeats itself, hence why the guy or girl referenced in the song don’t have names.
i just bought the IGOR vinyl and it's on repeat in my room, and instead of studying for my finals, i'm levitating as i cannot fathom the level of genius of that man for releasing this banger. Great vid, i feel like you really tried to go in there and stay non-biased, and you did your research as well (+ the costumes and editing are great)
bro you got the Igor story all wrong. :( Ok, so by listening to lyrics I’ve been able to tell that this album is based around a concept of Tyler/Igor struggling in a relationship where this guy Tyler/Igor likes is in a relationship with a woman as a front because he’s gay. However, he’s been cheating on her with Tyler/Igor the whole time. The only problem is that Tyler/Igor wants him to come out so he can be with Tyler/Igor all the time. This causes a series of emotions in Tyler/Igor, including wanting to kill the woman (NEW MAGIC WAND). I think the whole album shows the progression of being in love with someone who can’t commit to you and being lovestruck, desperate to be with them, angry, and then coming to your senses and realizing that some things aren’t meant to be. Or maybe it’s just funny bowl cut man dance idk.
fun fact the wolf triology is intended to be listened to in the order of bastard, wolf and then goblin bcs of the therapy session in wolf connecting to the one in goblin
Explaining IGOR because I LOVE the album as it hits too close home🫡 sorry in advance if I make grammatical mistakes lol. Also sorry this is really long, I hyperfixated on this album for a month straight. From my understanding Igor never dated the guy he liked, they were friends, maybe that guy even flirted with him initially, but he always ran to his ex to avoid being with tyler. The album starts with tyler running from something but we don't know what it is YET, then he's got full-on heart eyes for that guy in earfquake, though in that same song he says that it's making his heart break, "don't leave, it's my fault" (it's giving "I'm sorry, I fell for you" !!!) so he started acting his feelings & the guy was scared of seeing that side of tyler (and himself). Regardless they continued to be friends. "I don't want no confrontation, and you don't want my conversation". I THINK is him not understanding why that guy is acting differently, and pondering on how he's even gonna confess his feelings, if he's given the chance. "BOYFRIEND" feels like a love letter from him to this guy, which btw is only available in physical versions, though you can find it on UA-cam hehe. it's replaced by ---> "exactly what you run from you end up chasing" he was running from this situation, but stopped resisting & realized he likes this man too much to act like he dgaf. "There's always an obstacle" "running out of time to make you love me" someone else got that guy's attention, apparently. Igor refers to this ex as "her" initially because they both know her too well to even mention who she is, but she "creeps" into this story, ateast through Igor's perspective. So this guy tyler was crushing on was closeted, maybe a bisexual, I couldn't tell you, but he was scared to commit to this thing with tyler because he cared too much about other's perception of him "I need her out of the picture, take your mask off" Igor pleads, as his friend goes back to seeing his ex girlfriend. "I saw a photo, you looked joyous" suddenly he's an outsider, and he's mad but still making her the villain, never blaming the friend because, how could him? this is the pettiest he can be about the situation, wishing her the worst, that's the epitome of Igor as a character. Igor SWEARS if she was dead they'd be happy together, but fails to understand he'd still choose another woman, it's an internal problem and he's too closeted. By the second half he does realize THE BOY was way dangerous to his heart, he likes tyler, but this is too much. "Take your hoodie off, why you hide your face from me? make your fucking mind up, I am sick of waiting patiently" "When the time's right baby (a boy is a gun)" is pure internal conflict, maybe HE is the problem but I still want him so. "You invited me to breakfast, why the fuck your ex here" was tyler's last straw, "stay the fuck away from me" is so REAL. and yetttt he's still feeling like this dude's puppet, it hurts to still be friends with him while he sees him with another, "you're parasitic". "But at some point, you come to your senses" "I see the light" "My love's gone/I hope you know she can't compete with me" "I hate wasted potential, that shit crushes your spirit" he believed he always had a chance, that's what sucks so much, maybe if that guy was braver, but that's just wishful thinking. "I don't love you no more/can I have my heart back?" I love this song because the rage in it just screams that he still loves him, but NEEDS to give up for his own mental state. Plus he's aware now the guy is not a saint, no heart eyes anymore, just heartbreak. "Are we still friends, can we be friends?" can be interpreted in two different ways, 1. I know I acted insane but can you still be in my life? & 2. Can I really do this to myself once more? Can I be next to you and not go insane? ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? is the perfect song to "close" this album, because the interesting thing about this concept album it's that IT'S A CYCLE, he falls for his friend, he learns they can't be together, they go back to being friends and he falls in love with him again, because they're in close proximity and he can't help it. This song's outro matches ALMOST PERFECTLY the intro of IGOR'S THEME, but Igor's theme's just sounds corrupted, like he's more aware with time that this love isn't good, but there isn't much he can do about it, SO HE RUNS. "He's coming" is the perfect like to start this song imo 👏 This was the first album I ever listened from Tyler, he's really goated.
wowww super interesting thanks sm for sharing! i honestly think tht perspective makes sm more sense especially considering the note tht the album ends on
experimental doesnt mean good tho. i understand ppl liking it for tht reason but im still never gonna choose to listen to it cuz i just flat out dont like how it sounds lol and ig the title of the vid isnt lying
22:30 ahahahha, he literally "found" rex orange county and gave him a maaaaaassive boost in his career, tyler had said that he found him on youtube and invited him to make music
911/Mr Lonely not in top 5 of flower boy is crazy Edit: No HOT WIND BLOWS, SWEET/ITYWTD, CORSO, RUNITUP, or LEMONHEAD in top 5 is crazy to me. Last edit: I swear to god I Hope You Find Your Way Home is one of the most underrated tyler songs
I know a lot of people were talking about his opinion on IGOR, but was I the only one genuinely surprised at his take on WOLF? The metaphors he picked out of that narrative relating to Tyler's career and him getting personal on the album was actually kind of sick, makes me wanna relisten to it with them in mind.
So, since I see a lot of people complain about his misunderstanding of IGOR, I though i could sum it up for him and others wanting to explain it: It starts with IGOR'S THEME, this shows Tyler falling in love with a man he is friends with, and EARFQUAKE and I THINK just establish this further, but EARFQUAKE also shows his obsession with the man, EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM YOU END UP CHASING which is pretty self-explanatory, RUNNING OUT OF TIME tells us how Tyler feels like he is losing his crush and it sort of ties back to EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM YOU END UP CHASING, he is running from losing his crush, which is what he ends up chasing, in NEW MAGIC WAND, Tyler pulls out a gun on his crush and his girlfriend, on the B side, we see BOY IS A GUN* where Tyler explains how despite him pulling the gun on his crush, the man he likes has the true control in the relationship, and he can shoot Tyler at any moment, just emotionally, PUPPET shows how Tyler is still friends with his crush, and tyler is just letting himself be used, WHAT'S GOOD, Tyler just raps (unless i am missing something) in GONE, GONE he loses his crush, and he loses all of his love. THANK YOU thanks his crush's girlfriend, for letting him realize getting with his crush is impossible, in I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE, he tries to cement the fact he doesn't love his crush, but it starts to seem like he is just trying to convince himself that he doesn't love his crush, ARE WE STILL FRIENDS, Tyler becomes friends with his crush again, and this may seem like the end of the album, but it is also the beginning, in music theory, the last note on ARE WE STILL FRIENDS is not a way you are supposed to song in the chord the song is in, but the note on IGOR'S THEME would finish the song, and also shows the relationship of tyler and his crush better.
You missed something amazing about "Take your mask off" from Chromakopia. Not only is it a diss track to closeted gay people, fake gangsters and unhappy house wives, but also primarily a track dissing himself. The last verse is very obviously referring to himself getting old and his own clothing line. He even mentions how he's "afraid of being a parent". I think that last verse recontextualizes the previous three in such a beautiful way. Why would he diss someone trying to look tougher than he actually is? Well, clearly Tyler did the same thing when he just started out making music. Why would he diss a priest hiding he was gay? Because he did the same. Why would he diss a housewife who has so much comfort and material possessions that would make anyone jealous but is still so unhappy and busy that she can't even "have alone time to think of killing herself"? Because he can relate to that as well, he keeps mentioning how buying new cars stopped making him happy ever since Flower Boy! I think it's one of the most incredible songs ever written, a song that makes you reflect on Tyler's whole discography in a way you wouldn't expect. I think it honestly can act as the title track, considering the whole aesthetic the album paints of someone wearing a mask of his own face.
Not sure why people are hating because you didn't pick up on some meanings behind lyrics or album storylines, your dedication to doing such an amzing artist justice is admirable 🙌
I also think because it's marketed as a swiftie coming in to try and understand Tyler and his music and not just what seems like first listens. Since swifties hold themselves on this pedestal of liking lyrics, so people expect him to catch on to lyrics as well when going through a discography
you know. I realised while watching this that I was in high school when Tyler dropped his first album and it hit me in such a direct way; I felt everything in this visceral, no thoughts only vibes kinda way. Where it wasn't really about the lyrics of the song so much as something with the kind of energy I was trying to get out as a teen and singing along help a young teen boy get out the feelings he didn't know how to speak aloud even if they didn't really align with the literal subject matter of any of the songs. Going through these albums one by one I realise that there's kind of a "You had to be there when it was happening." effect with a lot of his older works in that, listening to them now, they feel confusing or overly edgy but if you were the target audience when it came out, it really felt like Tyler hand crafted every song for you just to help you discover new emotions and ways to express them at the same time. Just one frustrated young dude to another.

My rating: 1. IGOR (my favourite album of all time and an incredible story with no song that is worse than an 8/10 imo) 10/10 2. WOLF (great storytelling with great songs with incredible beats) 9/10 3. Chromakopia (very awesome themes with no bad songs) 9/10 4. Goblin (really relatable from the mental health/mental hospital/therapy angle and has some great storytelling and songs imo) 8/10 5. Call Me If You Get Lost (don’t love as much as the others but still very solid) 7/10 6. Bastard (haven’t listened to all of it but what i have is pretty cool) 6/10 7. Flower Boy (overrated as fuck imo pretty stale) 6/10 8. Cherry Bomb (some bangers like DEATHCAMP but pretty shitty mixing and very inconsistent) 3/10
37:50 polyamorous relationships AREN'T toxic at all. They can be, just like regular relationships, but poly relationships are perfectly fine. there's more to balance, but it's not inherently toxic.
i get tht perspective but i think only a small percentage of them have both partners equally as invested in the idea leading to toxicity in their relationship
@@jasonpaulkim why does a lower amount of investment equal toxicity? there are loads of monogamous relationships that don't really invest themselves very deeply. Sometimes a difference of investment can lead to problems, but when you're Poly, you're already in the mindset of "I don't like this relationship, I'll find a new one, or get another partner." just cause a lot of poly people are more liberal when it comes to that. a poly relationship doesn't need everyone loving eachother. I've seen some poly relationships where there are 5 different sides between like, 10 different people, and half of them don't even know eachother, and the other half connects all of them together. And it's not in a toxic "muehehe, I'll keep this a secret!" kinda way, but in a "this person knows about the other 10 people, but they don't really care about them, they just love these two people. and these two people have two other partners each. and those four people have a few more."
I’d say chromakopia is def like his top 4 album atleast imo (Igor cmiygl and wolf are just his top 3 fr) I could understand the points here made love to see people get into his albums for the first time yk I feel chromakopia mixes his previous albums into his present life that’s it it’s that and it works amazingly and it’s not my favorite but it does already have one of my favorite Tyler songs of all time (thought I was dead)
I’d also say like like him doesn’t do as much as you’d think it does personally don’t have it nowhere near as high as other people do but it’s still a good song just answer does it way better
Goblin is a LOT better/enjoyable if you understand it in the context of the WOLF trilogy (AKA the theory/idea that tylers first 3 albums (Bastard, Goblin and WOLF) are all interconnected in one big storyline. (Bastard being the introduction, WOLF being the prolouge and main story, and Goblin being the Aftermath/Sequel to WOLF) also, Goblin is just kinda funny in my opinion.
super epic video dude, i only got into tyler when chromakopia came out but it's probably my favorite, but i also love CMIYGL and flower boy. i'm really fond of Heaven To Me and Wharf Talk
Your interpretation of the storyline on Wolf was very interesting to me because to be honest, even though I love the album I have never cared about the plot interpreting it only at face value. I am gonna listen again with this metaphor in mind
The story of IGOR is kind of complicated but a very good love story, it starts with IGOR'S THEME where his love for this guy starts to bloom and grow. then in EARFQUAKE something happens that causes the guy to break up with him and IGOR begs for him to stay by saying "don't leave it's my fault" (fault meaning it's his mistake and meaning a fault line where earthquakes happen the most). then in I THINK he falls for the guy all over him, also in this song he directly says "I am your puppet" which shows he starts to realize he isn't in control of his emotion but quickly goes back to swooning over this man. after this is the skit EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM YOU END UP CHASING which is another therapist speaking to IGOR about his emotions, this running and chasing is a big part of the album that will make sense later on. then on RUNNING OUT OF TIME this is IGOR again trying to get this man, but he realizes he is running out of time and soon he will be with this girl. next is NEW MAGIC WAND which starts with another therapy session that IGOR takes completely wrong and decides killing the girl will make the guy want him (great idea) and we hear him begging the guy to stay with him by saying "please don't leave me now" over and over again. then after this point IGOR realizes that this whole relationship isn't healthy in A BOY IS A GUN* where he can finally see that this relationship is one sided and desperate and at the end, he tells the guy to "stay the f**k away from me" which is IGOR finally going his own way (he is clueless). Then in PUPPET IGOR completely realizes he is nothing but a sidekick to this guy, the guy's IGOR (IGOR being Frankenstein's assistant in the book Frankenstein's Monster). So, in WHAT'S GOOD he fully embraces this and fully becomes IGOR. (Fun fact the car crash in the song actually happened to Tyler if I remember correctly). Then in GONE, GONE / THANK YOU it is IGOR grieving in the first half about his love being gone with someone else, but then in thank you he thinks about the relationship and can't help but thank it for letting him find himself. and in I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE he talks to the guy and tells him he doesn't love him and doesn't want his love (he is lying). but in the end, he runs back to him in ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? and begs to be his friends, if he can't have him as his love then at least they can still be friends. the song ends and boom album done, IGOR just wants to be the guy's friend and that's done and done. But no, it's not that simple, at the end of ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? it ends on an uncomplete note, and it just so happens that the unfinished note is finished when you play IGOR'S THEME, which symbolizes that this entire album is a constant loop, a loop of being friends, to lovers, to broken hearts, betrayal, acceptance, then desperation, and finally ending with being friends again. IGOR tries to run away from this guy, but he always ends up with him. he proves the therapists point "Exactly what you run from you end up chasing like, you can't avoid, but just chasing it and just like trying. Giving it everything that you can, there's always an obstacle" so, yea that's IGOR sorry for it being long this is a topic I am DISGUSTINGLY obsessed with so sorry for the yap session. hope this helps also sorry for anything I get wrong 😭🙏
love the content, and the depth of your reseearch and editing, really show you care. I really love that you dare to tell the narrative of the stories. Because it's so rare to find a genuine first interpretation of these well known albums. It's like we've forgotton that the music is for the individual to interpretate. (But I too watched the TennisThom IGOR deepdive and loved it) a little PS wusyaname at no 1 is delusional and reminded me that a SWIFTIE made this. Lovely vid tho
The quote from tylers mom in "like him" isnt her just saying that its her saying hes always wanted to be there for tyler and she pushed him away and that its her fault
the standard version of goblin actually is on spotify its just very hard to find since you gotta scroll and press the 1 more release button thats very small and basically no one knows about
46:05 I promise you the crazy fans don't get mad when you say wolf is better than his first 2 albums, they get mad when you say his later albums are better than wolf
If im not mistaken (and in the simplest way to say it) IGOR is abt tyler being in love with a man who is leading him on (EARFQUAKE) because he has a girlfriend but IGOR gets jelous of her and wants to kill her (NEW MAGIC WAND) but he gets over him and decides to still be friends with him (ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?) which restarts the painful cycle of him falling in love with the guy again, his emotions getting out of hand, and geting his heart btoken. (Correct me if im wrong!)
Only reason I even liked Earfquake was bc I listened to IGOR album fully and even though it’s only the second song ‘Igor’s Theme’ really made ‘Earfquake’ stand out and I could appreciate it bc lowkey I thought it was buns before
alright bro im not trying to convince myself that goblin is good ITS GOOD BECAUSE I LIKE IT, WHEN THE SOUNDS GO INTO MY EARS I LOVE IT, i seriously dont understand why people think that when someone likes something they dont like theyre automatically trying to be different, im sorry but i just love goblin
Love the video, but why tf in Gods green earth you have "TItans" a.k.a THE WORST DC SHOW EVER MADE in YOUR BACKGROUND. but lets be fr tho if you like it you can do whatever you want to do with it, hell it is your background you could choose what you want. BUT TITANS? TITANS OF ALL SHOW?? ITS THE WORST INTERPRETATION OF THE DC CHARACTERS SINCE...... EVER.
Wolf is his best album because its got its own peak, its next to goblin, his lowest, and next to cherry bomb, his second lowest, and it just stands there with its own little peak, before his quality went up and didn't stop.
the reason cherry bomb is so significant in tyler's discography is BECAUSE of the instrumentals. it garnered a ton of critical scrutiny and praise from composers and very well versed musicians. it might be good for you to check them out! you might enjoy them!
My interpretation of the wolf trio is that the girl(salem) is his sexuality. The trio came out before he was out of the closet so with that lens the whole thing comes across as a gay angst guarded therapy session but the therapist is his music and that means hes guarding his sexuality from his music.
You should try out Green Day. They’re one of the most popular in the Rock(ish) genre, which is one you haven’t gone over yet. They’ve made many hits like Boulevard of Broken Dreams and When September Ends (there’s many more too)
If you plan on continuing this series, I'd recommend maybe doing a video like this on future's discography. He's been massive for over a decade yet I feel like most pop fans probably have a pretty limited knowledge on him. Songs like Codeine Crazy managed to become trap classics despite not touching the radio.
when it comes to igor, the entire story is basically he falls in love with this guy and the guy likes tyler but he has stuff going on with his ex and is scared to come out as gay in fear of being judged but tyler is trying to force him so it doesnt end up working out, the contrast between running out of time and new magic wand shows how he has love for the guy but this overwhelming hate for his ex, the new magic wand is used as a symbolization for a gun, explaining how he talks about getting her out of the picture or frame on that song, another big theme is the stages of grief, which can be seen through the songs, eventually you get to are we still friends? and this is the point where tyler tries to beg for him to keep tyler close and maybe be able to still have something, the end of this song perfectly (from a musical standpoint with the notes) loops into igors theme symbolizing that this is a loop that repeats over and over again hence the lyrics on igors theme "riding round town they gon feel THIS ONE" showing its happened many times before (sorry this is so long i love the story of this album)
The wolf trilogy, if you want to go in chronological order according to the events of the story, it’s:Bastard wolf and goblin. This is becuase originally wolf was supposed to come out before goblin but Tyler lost all the files for the project so he just released goblin first (thank goodness he did because wolf 2010 is better than bastard and goblin, but worse, WAY WORSE than the wolf we got)
For the goblin, wolf and bastard trilogy, i woyld STRONGLY recommend watching 'munt chunk's' video analysing the story across the trilogy. It will give u a much better understanding x
11:48 exactlyyyyyy, hence retrospectively goblin is kinda universally thought of as worst:/ ..even he recognizes that he wouldnt have his career without it tho, and certainly WOW, did he clearly have something so much more past that, as we've seen O.O solidddd vid man:3 (you maybee wanna add an asterisk to that igor misinterpretation tho🤭 lolol /hj, i think it's more than alright, and proof that these are really your unfiltered, PERSONAL, thoughts) (^-^)v thankyoouu tho, much enjoyed🩵🩵🔥

"Look at Earl's wet shirt!" He knew what he was doing.

I 100% recommend watching " A Deep Dive into Tyler, The Creator's IGOR" by TennisThom because it helped me understand and appreciate IGOR wayy more. 22:30 little fact, tyler actually found rex orange county from youtube and he had 6 views, basically started his career haha
oh wowwww
That's not true. Tyler obviously gave it a push, but Rex was already well-known. Tyler just hyped it up.
It’s true
@OnlyGoodMusic_ yeah true , he was relatively well known but not globally - performing small shows in london, and releasing his debut (buwnbf) on soundcloud - i mostly meant tyler catapulted his popularity after listening to that and contacting him to feature on here which helped him to get signed to RCA and go on tour with frank like a few months later :)
also, “I had 500 followers on SoundCloud at the time when I headed out to LA and nobody really knew who I was,” he said. “It made me realise that if I have to believe in myself, then someone like Tyler will believe in me too.”-rex talking to NME in 2022
Always great to see someone new to Tyler listen to all his albums instead of only his new ones
of course!
IGOR is about tyler losing his boyfriend and watching as he moves on to a girl. The album shows Tylers jealousy, his sadness, heartbreak, and unwillingness to move on, as shown by the fact that the album is a perfect loop representing his unending cycle.
Nah it’s about Tyler getting a crush on a guy who already has a girlfriend.

glad u liked it in spite of those things :)))
I don’t know if anyone’s said this, but Igor’s super cool small detail is that at the end of the album the song doesn’t have a chord resolution, but when you play the album from the beginning the chord resolves, super cool affect and some people theorize that the entire story repeats itself, hence why the guy or girl referenced in the song don’t have names.
ahhh sort of like its a plague tht haunts him for everyone he likes
i just bought the IGOR vinyl and it's on repeat in my room, and instead of studying for my finals, i'm levitating as i cannot fathom the level of genius of that man for releasing this banger. Great vid, i feel like you really tried to go in there and stay non-biased, and you did your research as well (+ the costumes and editing are great)
haha i feel tht and so happy u enjoyed!
bro you got the Igor story all wrong. :(
Ok, so by listening to lyrics I’ve been able to tell that this album is based around a concept of Tyler/Igor struggling in a relationship where this guy Tyler/Igor likes is in a relationship with a woman as a front because he’s gay.
25:33 That's Lil Uzi Vert singing not Tyler. It's a hidden ft

"But at some point, you come to your senses" "I see the light"
"My love's gone/I hope you know she can't compete with me"
"I hate wasted potential, that shit crushes your spirit" he believed he always had a chance, that's what sucks so much, maybe if that guy was braver, but that's just wishful thinking.

So, since I see a lot of people complain about his misunderstanding of IGOR, I though i could sum it up for him and others wanting to explain it:
It starts with IGOR'S THEME, this shows Tyler falling in love with a man he is friends with, and EARFQUAKE and I THINK just establish this further, but EARFQUAKE also shows his obsession with the man, EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM YOU END UP CHASING which is pretty self-explanatory, RUNNING OUT OF TIME tells us how Tyler feels like he is losing his crush and it sort of ties back to EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM YOU END UP CHASING, he is running from losing his crush, which is what he ends up chasing, in NEW MAGIC WAND, Tyler pulls out a gun on his crush and his girlfriend,
on the B side, we see BOY IS A GUN* where Tyler explains how despite him pulling the gun on his crush, the man he likes has the true control in the relationship, and he can shoot Tyler at any moment, just emotionally, PUPPET shows how Tyler is still friends with his crush, and tyler is just letting himself be used, WHAT'S GOOD, Tyler just raps (unless i am missing something) in GONE, GONE he loses his crush, and he loses all of his love.
I fr thought you were a very popular youtuber. Fire video. Also tbe igor misinterpretation HURT

20:50 uhm that’s wolf
I was bouta say that, bro I was sitting kn the toilet watching this, and I look up, and see shit like domo23 when he's talking about cherry bomb 😭

Goblin is a LOT better/enjoyable if you understand it in the context of the WOLF trilogy (AKA the theory/idea that tylers first 3 albums (Bastard, Goblin and WOLF) are all interconnected in one big storyline. Giving it everything that you can, there's always an obstacle"

the reason cherry bomb is so significant in tyler's discography is BECAUSE of the instrumentals. it garnered a ton of critical scrutiny and praise from composers and very well versed musicians. it might be good for you to check them out! you might enjoy them!
u should rlly do mac millers discogg if u cann :)
id love to! thanks for the rec
the magic wand represents a gun im crying 😔
My interpretation of the wolf trio is that the girl(salem) is his sexuality. The trio came out before he was out of the closet so with that lens the whole thing comes across as a gay angst guarded therapy session but the therapist is his music and that means hes guarding his sexuality from his music.
This was a great vid! I love seeing people go through tyler, and its was refreshing to see ypu not glazijg him and going through the negatives
glad u liked it :)
You should try out Green Day. They’re one of the most popular in the Rock(ish) genre, which is one you haven’t gone over yet.
They’ve made many hits like Boulevard of Broken Dreams and When September Ends (there’s many more too)
A cool thing, Tyler the Creator found Rex Orange County when he only had a few listeners
I can't believe you listened to his first two albums God bless you and I hope you're not traumatized by it like any normal person 😮
i am but...ill survive
@jasonpaulkim gald to hear that we're going to need a ridiculous video to recover from this lol 😆
the standard version of spotify just got taken off a week before you posted this btw
If you plan on continuing this series, I'd recommend maybe doing a video like this on future's discography. He's been massive for over a decade yet I feel like most pop fans probably have a pretty limited knowledge on him. Songs like Codeine Crazy managed to become trap classics despite not touching the radio.
ive been curious abt him for a while so thanks for the rec :)
when it comes to igor, the entire story is basically he falls in love with this guy and the guy likes tyler but he has stuff going on with his ex and is scared to come out as gay in fear of being judged but tyler is trying to force him so it doesnt end up working out, the contrast between running out of time and new magic wand shows how he has love for the guy but this overwhelming hate for his ex, the new magic wand is used as a symbolization for a gun, explaining how he talks about getting her out of the picture or frame on that song, another big theme is the stages of grief, which can be seen through the songs, eventually you get to are we still friends? and this is the point where tyler tries to beg for him to keep tyler close and maybe be able to still have something, the end of this song perfectly (from a musical standpoint with the notes) loops into igors theme symbolizing that this is a loop that repeats over and over again hence the lyrics on igors theme "riding round town they gon feel THIS ONE" showing its happened many times before (sorry this is so long i love the story of this album)
And people called me crazy for saying Chroma was my favorite album of all time… glad to know I’m not the only one
2:38 I’m sorry, the doctor strange grinch movie?!?😭😭😭😭
this is actually very entertaining for some reason
glad u like it for some reason :)
THE VIDEO WE ALL NEEDED
WOOOOO
11:48 exactlyyyyyy, hence retrospectively goblin is kinda universally thought of as worst:/ ..even he recognizes that he wouldnt have his career without it tho, and certainly WOW, did he clearly have something so much more past that, as we've seen O.O
solidddd vid man:3
(you maybee wanna add an asterisk to that igor misinterpretation tho🤭 lolol /hj, i think it's more than alright, and proof that these are really your unfiltered, PERSONAL, thoughts)
(^-^)v
thankyoouu tho, much enjoyed🩵🩵🔥

Balloon at your top 5 for Chromakopia literally made my eyes pop out of my skull, roll back into my sockets, and go down to make a total of 4 balls. Anyways this was a good video
