Alvati is a popular no onion no garlic Konkani recipe made during monsoon as the colocasia leaves grow in abundance during this season.
It is a must make recipe during Janmashtami & Anant Chaturdashi.
Usually hog plums or ambado as the Konkanis call it is used in this recipe. As it is not freely available it can be replaced with tamarind as shown in the recipe.
Always apply coconut oil to your hands before cutting the leaves as the colocasia leaves cause itching in some people.
