    Working at a vet clinic, I always appreciate owners who recognise their pets potential need for a muzzle (like Poppy's owner). Unfortunately, there are a lot if pet owners that refuse to acknowledge that their pet needs a muzzle to be safe

    • @jeannegallegos8410
      @jeannegallegos8410 3 роки тому +7

      Many dogs are like Poppy, who's in pain. Her pain was severe. She didn't strike out at Scott because of a character trait, but because of antagonizing pain made even more intense by Scott's evaluation movements. Best to be sure and safe with a muzzle, like the ones Scott uses, which are very humane. Lisa is very perceptive & honest about Poppy's possible reactions.

    • @HannaBenana

      I always tell the vets my dog needs a muzzle if they're going to touch his back end, a vet thought he was so sweet with her that she could get away with it and I was skeptical, he totally turned and growled at her so fast when she manipulated his bad leg that she fell over. I told her tho!

    • @Edgeofthornes
      @Edgeofthornes 3 роки тому +5

      My chihuahua mix can be very friendly or snappy so I always ask vets and groomers if they want me to put her muzzle on (because of her size I got one; like shown on show that allows dog to drink water wearing it; it’s always attached to the handle of her lead) I’ve had more than one inform me they “have never used muzzles” especially groomers only to tell my in accusing tones that my “monster” bit or snapped at them. Like it’s my fault. With groomers I’ll ask did they put her in drying cage which 1) my dog hates, 2) is dangerous for small dogs and 3) I ALWAYS tell them not to use: I’ll take my dog back wet rather than risk #1&2. Most time groomers who get bit try to put her in drying cage. Now vets are different since dog often are hurting and most vets will muzzle a dog if you mention it.

    • @sammygirl6910
      @sammygirl6910 3 роки тому +4

      I've had dogs that needed muzzling. I now have one that doesn't. I brought her to a new vet recently and asked for a nail trim. My dog has epilepsy, and when she's very upset, it can cause seizures. I told them specifically not to muzzle her because she's fine with trims but not muzzles. They took her in back. When she came back, I could tell she was about to seize. The tech, who I'd warned about her condition, muzzled her anyway.
      My point is it goes both ways. Owners usually know their animals. Communication should be a two way street.

    • @jeannegallegos8410
      @jeannegallegos8410 3 роки тому +2

      @@sammygirl6910 In my opinion: Far too many Vets & Techs have a false sense of superiority. They "know it all" when they've seen the dog 🐕 or cat 🐈 for all of, what, 10 minutes, maybe, and you, the owner, who lives 24/7 with the patient/client, know nothing. Also my opinion: Because they are the "experts." And your love for your Beloved Companion is almost an invalid, certainly an unworthy consideration.
      My opinion: In short, they are Jerks.
      They won't tell you this, but you have the right to go to another Vet. Because there is little or no rapport or you are uncomfortable with this situation or you have the right to say know. You are your pet's Guardian Angel, they aren't. A callous attitude, to me, means a hardened heart ❤💙💜. My heart goes out to you. Continue being your beloved one's ❤ and Keep On protecting, Caring, watching, loving ❤. Remember you always can say no as well as yes.

    My 16 year old kitty cat, Tony, had several nasal and throat polyps. He could barely breathe. Gasped for air through the weekend because small town vet office was closed. On Monday, the vet said he found polyps but couldn’t remove them and that was the only option.
    so we had a difficult decision to make; either we let him struggle to breathe for however long he’d live or put him to sleep.
    We sadly chose relief.
    Selfish but I wanted one last night with him. Tony and I shared his favorite treat, tuna. I did his favorite activity, brushed him. Then we snuggled to sleep. our sweet boy was euthanized next morning. So heartbreaking because he was a healthy cat still and would have lived easily another 5 years or more. He was a sweet, cuddly, loving boy. Rip, my Tony Balony (bologny) 2004-2020
    Anyway, I’m a little envious (I’m sorry) but VERY glad this cat got her polyp(s) removed 🙏🏼 and all went okay, despite the car crashing into vet office!

    I had a lovely Alsatian he was my best friend we went everywhere together, he was a pedigree his dad was the winner of crufts, anyway by the time he was 15years old when he went for a wee cocking his leg gave him so much pain he used to collapse, we had him on medication for this problem but it came to the point I couldn't let him suffer like this anymore, I asked the vet if there was any other drug but no so the vet said that the kindest thing is too say goodbye it broke my heart but it was his time and a few years later I rescued a female Alsatian who was in need of lots of love and a Happy New life she was a mum's girl and cast me alot of money but she was lovely and great with my boy's she protected them when they took her down the park, they kept her very active she had a really good life and when her time came I just couldn't go through it again.

    My kitty Ever had to have a femoral head ostectomy when she was about 4 months old. I rescued her after she fell out of a 30 story building in China at 3 months old. They made her stay in a cage for a month before they would do the surgery. Then afterwards she had to stay in a cage for another month. About 3 months after she fell, they finally told me it was time for her to "exercise". What kind of exercises? I asked. "Just exercise" they said. That was so helpful... I still don't know what I should have done for her, but she seems OK now. No limp any more, runs and jumps just fine.

      if the breeder has been careful, they'll have minimal issue with their back legs until they're much older
