Now I see just how important armadillo scent can be inside a trap. You didn't need a guide fence to get them in the trap. They simply followed their nose and came right in. Thanks for the video!
caught 4 in my trap in texas since last october. This was all I had so I retired the trap for the winter. Now they are back (august) and I am re-deploying.
When I saw this trap I thought it has to be a scam. I've had problems with Armadillos in may yard and have tried eveything. I've tried wire live traps, camping out trying to shoot them, you name it I've tried it. I finally decide to try one. I put it out last night and checked it this morning and I had a big fat armadillo. You coud see his tracks in the wet grass. He came across my neighbor's yard across my yard and stright into the trap. I mean he made a bee line to the trap and didn't waver at all.. I must say I'm a believer now.
The only way an armadillo can escape is for some object like a stick falls so that it is over the bottom door channel. Also an armadillo carries a lot of dirt with it and the bottom door channels can fill with dirt. It is important to clean the channels from time to time.
Armadillos will just walk into a trap--no bait needed. Contrary to what he says, metal traps work fine too. All that you need to do is to create a large funnel with boards because armadillos will follow the board and go right in. Wooden traps are superior to metal wire traps because armadillos are very powerful and can bend up the trap to escape--even those with solid metal doors. I've had to reinforce mine. The disadvantage with the wooden traps is that you cannot see what kind of animal you have or have access to kill it, if that's what you want to do. I suggest that you drill a few rows of 3/4" or 1" holes along the sides but not the door. Putting holes in the doors will give them something to grab onto--not so important with armadillos but extremely important with raccoons. For raccoons, it would probably be best to also put a strip of wood along the floor just inside the door so that they can't eventually get a grip under the door and lift it. The easiest way to kill an animal in the trap is to put the trap and animal into a large garbage bag and tape the end over the exhaust of a car for a few minutes.
Ok I bought this trap a while back. Sorry don't remember how long the shipping took. The trap works great, and I caught an armadillo the first night I set it. The problem is if you don't catch an armadillo in a few days the trap loses it's scent and you have just a regular box trap. Unless you plan to keep a live armadillo to resent the trap the trap is nothing special. Sorry just stating the facts. Good luck JT
Ok this guys says the trap will hold the scent "for months" I find that statement to be false. Mine did not. I kept it in my loft above my garage, wrapped in plastic and dry when not in use. The trap did not hold any scent for more then a couple of weeks. I had to shoot my 2nd armadillo because he would not enter trap on his own.
The first one will eventually wander in on its own if you place it properly. Might take a week. Use boards to guide the first one in making an 8" long funnel at each end for quicker results. After that, other dillos will quickly investigate the trap.
I've sent 3 emails to the email listed on the website to see if they have any scented traps, NO response as of yet, maybe they are out of business???????????

It's not a scam trust me I just caught an armadillo in less then 1 1/2 that I've been trying to dispose of for a month.
I thought my wife was crazy spending that much money on a trap. I just bought a second one. Over 40 trapped so far!

Fred White my grandpa is watching this vidoe on the computer tnatnks
Trade secret, but the wood is porous so it soaks up the scent molecules. The scent is from an armadillo and will attract other armadillos.
