Good Journey Voyager and Michael to the Infinity

In 1979, Mike drove down the coast from Oregon with copies of his 1st album, asking local record stores to carry it. He met San Luis Obispo DJ Jim Moyer of KZOZ's 'Alien Ear Music' synth program (the eventual influence for my show on KXLU). I heard 'Escape' on Jim's show & was hooked. Jim's Audio Ecstasy store turned me on to many synth artists which became a major part of my early broadcasts. Even after almost 45 years, Mike's trademark sound is still timeless.

Got a lot of electronic music albums, and Garrison is among the best. So sad he died so young. Very underrated artist. Should have been huge

Back in 1979 I got a letter from Michael, telling me about himself, for a review of this excellent album! I still love his music.

Fabulous to hear this again. So sad to hear that Michael died so young. I once emailed him saying how much I loved his music and got a really thoughtful reply from the man himself.

This guy died too soon (ten years ago)...first, I imported his LPs by myself to Sweden, then the CDs. Worth every cent/krona...
Sequencer driven electronic music, Berlin School (analogue) - fanfreakingtastic! Never tire of his music after - what, 25 years?

Michael Garrison hailed from the very unlikely place of Bend, Oregon. I live in Oregon and I can tell you right away Oregon isn't a hotbed of Berlin School electronic music. In those days I'm sure Garrison had to travel to Portland, if not Los Angeles, to get his equipment. As an Oregonian I get blown away when I discovered music like this being produced in my neck of the woods, a type of music I usually have to look to German artists for.

@@Miler97487 As a German I can tell you, that I never listened to music like this before in the 1970s. I fell over "The Voyage" in 1981. With the 1980s radio stations began to play music aside the mainstream - though in rather rare radio broadcasts. May be electronic instruments were available in Germany, but analogue synths were expensive, and if you were not "part of the scene", it was rather impossible to get in touch with this music. But Michael Garrisons music is still unique. The octaved bass is the dominant sound in his music. Someone must like it or not.

Great song! Crazy Story, how I discovered it on the radio..
At one evening, i heard this, i only understand... "Voyager.." or so, and didnt know the name of the artist.. so i hit quickly the "record" Button of the tape Recorder.
After many years i found it again on a playlist from an Internet radio station!
