- Taking a closer look at the iconic Vought F4U Corsair. We interviewed Jim Tobul back in 2013 while visiting the Triple Tree Aerodrome and he gave us some great insights on his F4U Corsair. The F4U Corsair was one of the Navy's more unique planes of that era with a folding wing design built to accommodate the crammed conditions on a landing carrier. This plane saw combat in many theatres during both WW2 and the Korean War and it remains a fascinating aircraft to admire to this day.

Corsair is one of my favorite aircraft ever. Beautiful gull wing.
Ours too! Thanks to Black Sheep Squadron!
Always Loved that plane and have a beautiful example at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo in Michigan. Wasn't it called " Whistling Death " by the Enemy? I was listening but didn't hear it. Thanks for the video. Greetings from the farm near Battle Creek.
The Vought F4U Corsair is a cool and beautiful old navy aircraft
VERY!
What a marvelous airplane!💝
Wow, I love the condition of the paint. It really makes it pop and stand out.
My dad served on the Boxer from 53 to 57. He was a sonarman in HS 4, one of the subhunter helicopter squadrons
That plane reminds me of a TV series called The Flying Tigers back in the eighties. It's a wonderful fighter plane.
What an eye catching air craft!
Thanks to You and your Father for Keeping History Alive
Best Wishes from Montana! M.H
Beautiful airplane, been my favorite since I was young, I got a Cox gas plane when I was 10, but unfortunately I have had health issues and unable to fly for real, thanks for the info and a great video!
I have always loved the Corsair and flying RC Models, I have about 3 different ones in different scales... Love to see them fly.
Same here!
I think that the best restoration I've ever seen..NICE!🙂
I think so too!
Magnificent!
I love the fact that a lot of it's distinct features result in the size of the engine and the prop. "What? Prop to long and the gear to long? Well, we'll put an inverted gull wing to make sure the prop has its clearance and the gear is short and stout enough.".. "What? Two nine cylinder radials, we'll give it two oil coolers, one in each wing."
Wonderful video! My only wish was for the bg music to drop out so we can hear the plane in action.
Sorry! We've made those adjustments in subsequent seasons.
@@TheAviatorsTV Awesome! Very much looking forward to it! 🛩️
