Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!

@@EyedontjudgeI have generalized idiopathic absence epilepsy with seizures and have had them for about a decade. They’re really wide-ranging in how they feel, and everyone feels things differently (so take this with a grain of salt) but here are MY most common types (these aren’t medical terms, just things I tell family and friends to help explain):
Full Seizure-you’re fully unconscious, it doesn’t rly feel like anything. (Think a record skipping)
Full Myoclonic seizure (seizure with small jerks)- same deal but with soreness from the repeated movement
Half seizure or discharge-you can’t control your body but you’re still semiconscious. Sounds and feelings filter in, but they’re hard to put together.
Cluster- a bunch of seizures put together. Can be really debilitating. Dizziness, fatigue, and sometimes even losing the ability to read are common for me.
I like to describe my brain like a sequined pillow. W/o meds t the world feels disjointed and hard to focus on (the sequins standing on end) but when I eventually take them my thoughts smooth out again.

    *⚠️WARNING⚠️*
    This is long ash but…
I have seizures as well but I have grand maul seizures, which is the same as a clonic seizure. Basically your body, arms, and legs will contract, extend, shake-a *clonic* period (contraction and relaxation of the muscles), followed by the postictal period. During the postictal period, which results in being sleepy, having problems with vision or speech, and may experience a migraine, fatigue, or body aches. From my knowledge (because I never remember anything a little before or after I have them). I have them and then wake up idk how long later, once was about 2-3 days when I had my first ones since I was around 3 due to high fever. A few times I believe I was only out about an hour or so. The first time I had a seizure since then was I think in March last year. It happened when I was driving home after a little argument with my then girlfriend at the time and was on the road below my house right up a hill to the left. I crashed into someone’s parked car and totaled theirs and mine. I woke up in the hospital in a *DIAPER* around 2-3 days later (I don’t remember😅) and I didn’t have a single scratch or bruise on me thank God🙏🏽☝🏽❤️‍🔥. However they said when I woke up in the ambulance that I was confused and started fighting them, it took about 3 of them to hold me down and strap me in😭💀 I guess I thought I was getting kidnapped or something and was *NOT* having it😂 later found out in the hospital about everything, and also that they had to take my license away for 8 months and said I couldn’t join the military for 8 years😭 some bs if you ask me. And what would trigger your tics if you don’t mind me asking?

I have generalized absent seizures. I take Keppra valproare 7.5ml. I get 8 hours of sleep. Does looking at my phone or my computer screen trigger a seizure? Does Keppra cause me to be violent? Iwas told I get violent sometimes. My seizures very. I'll have a seizure then I'm able to stop them when I have a aura. My aura are when my hands shake, my heart will beat fast or when my legs start jumping. I will have a seizure one day then I will able to stop them. Then I will go a few days without having one. I have had epilepsy surgery. I have a vegal nerve stimulator. It hasn't helped me stop my seizures. Do you think taking vitamins would help? Cbd oil, magnesium deficiency? I read where you said vitamin D 500-2000iu, Folic Acid 1-4mg, vitamin D6 pyridoxine, Omega 3 fish oil could help for seizures? I watch from Fayetteville n.c.

(These rules apply to Britain, USA, and probably most other countries) With her fainting she can’t drive, but you could argue to get your license back if you can prove you won’t faint while driving. For her tics there’s no specific rules around it, it’s more of a personal choice unless it’s proven you’re unsafe. For her seizures its an automatic ban, you have to be a certain amount of time seizure-free to get your license back. Hope this helps!

Ive took seizures, convulsions from heat but mainly as a child. They referred to my seizures as febrile convulsions. I do not know what a seizure feels like. I have 0 recollection as i mainly took them as a kid like 27 years ago 😅 i had a big seizure after i fainted and hit my head. Well, i dunno if i overheated then keeled over, whacking my head on a big metal shop door handle, or did i get dizzy and seize after hitting my head? I honestly have no recollection, i literally lost 3 hours that night

Question well, maybe more than one. When someone has a condition like this, would you like someone to do something? Should they be doing something? Whats the best way to accommodate someone without hindering their ability to participate or make them feel uncomfortable by standing out uncomfortably.

I am not sure if you respond to comments, especially on a video this old. But when you experience these seizures do they hurt at all? Or is it similar to something like just passing out where you don’t even feel it and it just happens. Because I don’t experience any medical problems but I have passed out just once, I didn’t even realize it till I woke up so yeah basically is it like that or is it painful? I over explained that way to much 😅

I have focal aware seizures (FAS) also called "aura" seizures and I just started college this week! They aren't to this extent, they are just a little... weird. Thank you for educating people on this unfiltered reality and for being so brave to do so!

If you find your focal seizures are interfering with your learning (and you are in the US) you can request reasonable accommodations such as a note taker or record lectures under the Americans with Disabilities Act. That way, you can go back later and fill in any gaps in your own notes during the periods you were having a seizure.
      Best wishes to you 🥰

Out of curiosity, are you on any medication for your seizures? My daughter has epilepsy I'm sending her your profile so she can share your videos with her teachers as I've never been able to catch the absence seizures on film these are a good example to share with the schools nurse and her teachers

It must be so much extra work to keep up with all these classes. I have no clue how often this happens to you during a class, but it seems like you have to possibly study a lot harder than the rest because you miss out on what the teacher is teaching

Used to do that a lot when I was like 11, everytime I wanted to open a door I would just stand there and not move for like 20 seconds or more until someone shakes me or something and it’s really awkward. when these happens all i could remember is seeing a white void. and don’t get me started on school.
