Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!

As someone with absent seizures, I’m so glad there are people bringing awareness to it.
One time in class, I had a absent seizure (a longer one than usual) but it was so awkward bc the teacher asked me a question and got no response for about 3 minutes until she asked someone else. She ended up thinking I had just gone nonverbal as this was prior to my diagonsis. :’)

I've had friends that faint in school. One of them we got a teacher for each time because it was new to him and he was actually developing a medical issue. The second one had POTS and could tell when theirs was about to happen and would tell one of us beforehand. We didn't have to get a teacher for them because we knew it was normal and treated it like so

Weird yet fascinating and kind of cathartic to watch as this has to be what I look like during my absences, too, at least approximately. I do stop blinking though, or my eyelids start fluttering fast instead. I sometimes faint, but most of the time I just freeze completely, as if someone pressed a pause button on a robot. And you're right, we go unconscious, no thoughts, just the brain "rebooting". My face (around the mouth mainly) also sometimes twitches and I can feel it afterwards when I come to. Feels like all the muscles in my face tensed up. Anyone else experiencing that? (I have atypical epilepsy, not Tourette.)
I'm very glad you're able to get the education you want despite it all and I'm extremely impressed and proud of you! All my best wishes!!❤

I had these when I was around 16 or so. I had lots of verbal ticks tripping over my words when I’d speak and then sometimes I would black out and regain consciousness as I was starting to fall. I got on Lamictal which gave me a constant headache so I switched to Depakote ER 1000mg/day. I missed doses sometimes and when I was 21 I had a grand-mal seizure. My dose was raised to 1500mg/day. I have been taking that and seizure free since then and I’m 36 now.
