I would like a video on acoustics of recording brass - trumpet, trombone, saxophone. How to place mics, absorbers and diffusion in order to get great sound. I am building a room for that, and I am experimenting a bit with positions. If I want some more ambient sound it seems that the best position is, that I am playing in the corner (trumpet), and mic is somewhere in the middle of the room. I am studying and enjoying your videos very much. I am buying DIY bundle to build diffusers and bass traps. What is your opinion? Thank you!!!
You must first treat the room acoustical issues that the microphones will "hear". Brass requires less low frequency management. Once the room issues are treated, you can then experiment with different set ups.

I would guess most engineers would still go for some compression regardless. Just to tame to peaks of a dynamic vocal, since the nature of vocals is usually very dynamic. At least for some glue or color. But yeah, to only reach for a compressor and not need EQs, de-essers and so on, sounds like a dream come true. Definitely checking out the DIY projects
Acoustic Fields You know, standard rectangular extra living room recording/mixing situation. Set up length-wise in the room a third away from the front wall. But it includes all of the major "no-no's" that you talk about: dreaded 7'-8' ceiling, Windows on the front wall, Windows on the back wall, fireplace and mantle on one of the long walls directly across from a double wide opening to the room. I've done what I can with blackout curtains, foam and DIY treatment panels at reflection points... But I dream of one day decking it out with Acoustic Fields products. From what I can tell, you guys are the best in the biz. Love the videos. Thanks

Unfortunately, we do not have videos of most DIY projects. We request them but most do not follow through with requests.
Brenda's microphone was really close to the diffusers. What is the ideal distance to place the mic from the diffusser to sing into the P13 diffusser?
S, You must experiment with the distance to achieve the tonal qualities you desire.
I thought their was a minimum distance base on a formula of the lowest freq of the diffusion
