Something very important and special that maybe most people missed.
Her sense of nature was that she was part of it, part of the 'the wilderness takes and gives, it kills yet it doesn't see it as something bad...' She felt so strong about it, that she was of the swamp herself, part of the flora and fauna that when she killed her boyfriend, she saw it as the natural course to take with no blame on her, as we read in her journal at the end of the movie. She was willing to go to prison than to say she was guilty of, mind you, not being part of the swamp and ITS laws. Of course she knew what she had done was wrong according to OTHER laws, but for her the laws of the swamp and the wilderness meant more for her so she understood her act against him as needed and justified. What a great story. I have watched it more than once even though I don't like crying due to some mental struggles, but I just can't help it.

You could not be more right! We are so smart, so civilised and yet somehow have managed to "elevate" ourselves way beyond the "alternative" laws of nature that we're killing ourselves out of shear ignorance. Consumed by our consumerism. The really sad element is there is no going back! There is only a very tiny populace that could possibly survive living in true harmony with nature because they are already doing it! But will they survive the rest of us? I doubt it! Given what I've seen over 70 odd years and given the exponential rise in the rate of consumerism, technology, political lunacy..... I give it no more than 100 years. A mere snip in evolutionary time

I have a question. How do males and females bond with each other? I don't see how men and women can bond (especially romantically) with each other. Men and women think very differently from each other. It seems like it's impossible for men and women to emotionally connect with each other.
Women do emotionally connect with other women, better than men do. Women can build incredible friendships and become very close to each other in a way men can't bond, and science shows that women can bond very well with each other. Generally, women are even more social than men are. After something bad happens, a woman quickly rushes to talk to all of her female friends to get support, whereas a man can isolate himself and grief alone.
