  • The Adventure has only just started...
Leaving Cooktown behind we headed towards Lakefield NP along Battlecamp rd visiting Isabella Falls, The Normanby River & Old Laura Historical Site.
We then took the Lakefield Rd down to Laura & the Peninsula Development Rd.
Hann River was our next stop for the night.
Morning saw us travelling through to Musgrave & on to Coen for our next two nights. A day trip to Port Stewart while we were staying at Coen was an adventure to say the least.
Leaving Coen & on to Archer River for a lunch stop & then on to Weipa for five days.
Another day trip to Mapoon was a special time & we saw some amazing things
This is only the early stage of out Cape York Trip but it's been great & we have seen some magnificent places along the way.
Hope you enjoy our video & where ever you are stay safe

Well done. I was waiting for some actual tyre pressures but I think I’ll aim for 25 psi for the corrugated bits. We started at Endeavour Falls caravan park too, unpowered site down by the falls. I think there’s a lot more bitumen in the short time since you were there beyond Laura etc.

Yeah. Endeavour Falls CP is great 👍
I think we probably ran around the 26psi too. Maybe a bit more on the rear because of the weight
Van would have been on about 24psi
      It's a great trip.

First time watcher. Great info. Love this area. How's the Jayco going? Im thinking about one, but gee they get bad press. Love to know your thoughts. Thanks. Anthony

      Hi Anthony,
Thanks for your comments. Glad you like our videos.
Out Journey is now 7 years old & done well over 150,000km ( stopped counting now ). We love it & it handles the trips we do well.
We have done a bit of work dust sealing & fitting protection under the van to protect plumbing & electrical from stone damage.
We have also reinforced the cabinets & drawer runners. As well as the shower screen frame.
Take it easy & drop tyre pressures & I believe these vans can just about go anywhere.
To date we have had no bad experiences off or on road. Nothing has broken, fallen off or even stopped working.
We get no dust in the van & don't have any dust reduction systems.
We have travelled all the South Australian Tracks, Gibb River Rd, been ti the tip of Cape York & all the Gulf Country. And almost everywhere else in Australia.
I my opinion these vans are good value for money with a few modifications, although the prices are getting up there these days compared to what we paid for ours back in 2015.
      Hope this info helps
      Cheers

Hi, just watching through your channel now. Good stuff. Great video and editing too. Just wondering how the van and the canopy went with regards to dust ingress. Thanks

      G'Day Garth,
      Thanks for your comments.
We have spent a lot of time sealing the van for these sort of trips. All we do is cover the door vent, Rangehood vent & lower Fridge vent. We get no dust in the van.
We have also done a lot of work inside the van with regards to cabinets & drawers. So far so good, no problems.
Been that way since new. It's 6 years old now & travelled well over 100,000kms.(have stopped counting now lol)
As for the canopy on the car, well that's a different story. A bit of dust gets in but we can live with that. We don't keep anything in there that would have a problem with dust. The things that do are in a dust proof box. Things like spares, filters etc.
      Cheers

      Hi Shane
We use Exploroz Traveller & EO Topo Maps.
      Pretty happy with them
Have used other ones but These are simple & user friendly. The definition at high zoom levels is amazing
      Good value in my book
      Cheers
