- The second part of the video where I talk about the late 80's metal records that I acquired recently in a collection. Most of them in mint or near mint condition and averaging out to about 5 dollars each.
I don't know what I enjoy more, these records or the head to toe leather. Robert Dice Fithen 🙌
Where Rob Halford’s whip ?
Hell Bent for Leather!!!!!
No Sleep is one of the best live albums ever imo! ♠️
When each member died - I’d listed to “ No Sleep “
Oh my goodness, this video is the gift that keeps on giving!! Rock and Roll crazy nights!
That cat knows your "wrapping it up" cadence 😂
I think so
Another awesome video…thank you again, Robert! Look forward to your videos every week
Thanks!!
Loudness and Anthem! You're in for a treat!
I don't really like 80s hard rock but I really like these videos.
80s overload, friend! Please take us back to the 60s/70s, please! 🙂 Seriously though, thanks for entertaining us - you always make it happen, Robert.
Haha yea Robert, some series that makes you need to dress up for each one/era would be cool! Late this early that, summer of this season of that etc!!
I’ve been wanting you to do this genre forever!!❤️❤️ you did not disappoint. Thank you for featuring the greatest era ever!
Lord have mercy I’ve been looking for the bonham forever. I can’t believe you found that! I would not go to as far as say grail. But it’s high on my list.
The Gordon meow at the end 🤣
Great video! That Bonham album is good tho! But hey that’s why they make red shoes and brown shoes, you be you boss! I just bought the reissue of BLOW MY FUSE because I never could track down an original
LONDON is fun. “ Oh Darling “ great cover. Unusual for a band to do too.
80s overload, wow some of stuff was around when my stoner friends had parties
Good job on the Dice impression.
Zodiac Mindwarp! I had that LP and only remember "Prime Mover" off it. When I "switched to CDs"this was one of the first casualties. I'd love to see a video from you on Hypes That Didn't Make It -- Zodiac, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Haydee Fantayzee, Milli Vanilla etc. Bands media railed about that had decent early press but completely sharted!
now I'm hooked for the next video to see that Y kant Tori read
It will be the first one shown.
Motorhead were awesome very sad to not have Lemmy around anymore
70 isn’t a bad age to go. He smoke and drank - big time - snorted too.
All of them are gone.
Great job as always, Robert. I look forward to each new one as I always laugh and learn something. Wishing you continued success and growth for this excellent channel.
Thanks!! I appreciate it
Gotta remember, arena rock, was everywhere
Nice score on that Randy Rhodes tribute. Typically sells for $60+
It's a mark of RF's charm that I can happily listen to him talk at length about music I'm not interested in or actively dislike.
Thanks! That's a great compliment.
All the ones you didn’t like are my favorites. Except Bonham, never liked them. D’molls are are in a different category kind of, much like Dog D’amour…see a trend? But it’s right up my alley. Atlantic dropped the ball on KIX. One of my favorite bands. Tell me where your next record show is and I’ll be there.
I don’t know about in the US but in the UK, I’m pretty sure that the Ozzy/Rhoads tribute LP was released at a budget price. So MAYBE, not as much care was taken with vinyl mastering, pressing etc. I could be wrong of course, I usually am!
I don't know much about the 1988/1989 era of metal because by then I was in college and had turned my back on "hair metal" and was a full-on college rock/alternative snob.
I did the same thing.
Love the Tribute album. Also had the original on CD that sounded better agree. I think it was from Cleveland and some from Montreal. Love the channel!! Cheers
You NEED to listen to the 1st STEELER album. You will be suprized....or maybe the 1st ALCATRAZ album
Yngwie!!!
great score
I know exactly what you are talking about with the constant sibilant "inner-groove distortion across all the grooves" sound on late 80s CBS records. I think that's when the labels stopped caring about mastering the records right. The focus was on getting the CDs and cassettes right, and then maybe just mastering the records off the CD or cassette masters (with only the necessary tweaks). Just a guess, but it seems to correlate. They probably assumed the people who wanted GOOD sound would buy CDs, and that record people didn't care about sound quality. And if they did, they'd switch to CDs (and records could just be phased out).
And yes, I LOVE finding the bands who didn't make it then AND who "haven't yet made it now," if you will. Not yet rediscovered in a Wes Anderson flick. I died at the "checklist."
I have that Motorhead album. I do not picture them to be the types to doctor a live album!
I started watching that Johnny Be Good movie at a friend's recently, and I was actually enjoying it. However, I figured it flopped because no one bought Anthony Michael Hall as a jock! Even my friend was like, "Wait, isn't he always a nerd?"
I also think they may have purposefully abandoned quality control with records to make the same title on CD sound superior.
@@RobertFithenI think you're right!
WOW!!!
Tribute is a fantastic album, but unfortunately it sounds like it was recorded in a hangar or a bad sounding venue.
Somehow a lousy sound...
And that's not just down to the pressing.
The whole recording doesn't sound good. And I believe that overdubs were also done in the studio by Ozzy ...
By the way, a good recording from the 1981 Tour can be heard on the album "Ozzy Live" from 2011.
You always crack me up when you imitate the vocals of these bands.
I had the 45 single of Johnny B Goode; dreck. I skipped that flick.
Enjoyed this collection view with a big wink to our shared past.
I saw Kix, Tesla, Motorhead, and others mentioned in concert.
What no Iron Maiden for 5 bucks, just kidding.
Will the German video have subtitles?
Thanks! I will try to subtitle the German video.
Loudness was a Japanese metal band. Ever heard of rock goddess? Chick metal band. Remember my old man saw a poster in my brother's room. Kept calling them rock goodies. (They did have some goodies I must say).
You brought up Winger lol
I love that Mr. Big album!!!
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend ribert robert ❤😊
Please do a Kim Fowley video....if possible, thanks
There’s a video on UA-cam of Belinda Carlisle preforming and zodiac mindwarp is her backing band. It’s hilarious 😂
Also every time I hear Judas Priest Johnny B Goode, i always think about how priest turned down top gun because they thought that movie was gonna flop , but said yes to Johnny B Goode 😂
I didn't know that about Judas Priest. That's hilarious I will need to find that Belinda Carlisle performance.
@@RobertFithen just type in Belinda Carlisle zodiac mindwarp in UA-cam and it will pop right up.
I guarantee you nobody is going to say that Johnny B Good is their favorite Judas Priest song.
Ha ha ha 😛
No Ring Around Rosie 😂
or the collar.
If the previous video was Andrew Dice Clay. Then this video must be the singer from Survivor (on the back cover of Eye Of The Tiger)
Speaking of Atlantic metal bands. Any chance you ever heard of Tarzen? Their self titled album can be seen in More Bad News when Vim is interviewed at home. Also kinda surprised that Burning Rock by the band Trash wasn't also mentioned. I've been looking for those albums for years.
Either way, what a great collection. Earlier today i saw audience bootleg footage of the show where Ozzy did pick up Randy at that show. You can even see the flash of the camera go off in it.
One I'd be interested in is The Great Radio Controversy. How's that hold up on vinyl? Pretty sure that album is in that 55+ minute range. Used to the play the snot out of that tape back in the day. Should go buy the cd at some point.
Oh yeah, great shot on Tiger Tails because from far away, those chicks look hot.
I didn't mention those albums because they weren't in the collection I bought. I've since heard the Tesla album and I can tell you that you had it right, it doesn't sound that great. Too much music for one record, cut low with sibilance.
I love that TRASH cd - in October - perfect !
Is that Rob Halford? I kid, I kid...
Late period Klaus Meine is back!!!
I think you slipped up and wore the beastie boys costume on the Metel vid
I was surprised to see the J Priest 12”
Because I have the 45 of it pic sleeve with A M Hall on the cover.
Such great pick ups man
21:41 DUDE I WANT THAT IF YOU DON'T i wore out my tape of that when it came out. yes i am on the hunt for that Bonham album.
Beastie Boys called and want their b boi wear back. Very nize.
Killer
Great video. Fates Warning turned into progressive metal similar to Rush being progressive rock. Certainly not death metal.
No Robert, you look like the biker gang dudes that were on The Monkees
Or the Beach Party movies.
@@brucegrossman3531@RobertFifthen OMG, yes Robert! Absolutely Eric Von Zipper!
Rock On!
I remember seeing that Zodiac Mindwarp record. But don't know one person who owned it. Only metal type stuff I pick up are Riding Easy releases, expect the Bad Trip series.
Zodiac Mindwarp "Tattooed Beat Messiah" is an absolute classic. "Untamed Stare", "Prime Mover" and "Holy Gasoline" are old school catchy rock songs. Just fun old school rock with a touch of metal.
I luv that Zodiac Mindwarp record. "Im yr sexfuhrer baby....love dictator..."💃💃💃
Also loved "Untamed Stare" " I got an untamed starrrree"...still sounds dangerous😊😊
I know what you are saying about D'molls. I like hair metal but it's not the greatest. Still the album cover is a little bit cool. Did you notice there are legs going up AND down. The legs are colored black or white but at first I only noticed the black ones.
Great album cover but doesn't really go with the music. It looks more like something for 1920's Broadway.
Was disappointed you didn’t say ugh….
Hey didn't Trump quote from this album recently at a rally? I seem to remember him saying something like "Make me your king I will rule with an iron fist"
I love White Lion
The 80ies were obviously not as bad as I remember this era. A german spoken video is quite a promise ...
Can I have the records that you don't like?
What's the point of owning records you don't like?
Both of those questions are answered in the (and other) video.
White Lion were Christian, so that probably explains the lack of good ol 80s Sleaze😂
Mr.Big was a good character in Live & Let Die telling James Bond " Names is for tombstones baby ! " but the band Mr.Big are awful & London is a terrific city but the band London are a snooze 🥱. They should be afraid , very afraid of wolves 🐺 ! ✌️
Good. I thought it was just me because London seemed to be a well-regarded group.
Great now I want to watch Live and Let Die again.
Omg mr.big..another lame hair metal band from the late 80s. Reminds of that girls bf in sex and the city. Free had a song on their album fire and water called mr.big. white lion what a pussified metal band. By that time I was long done with that genre. All those bands had white. Whitesnake, white lion, great white. I actually liked whitesnake. Bonham.was another zeppitator band. They got away with it because he was bonzos' son. White lion, great white, whitesnake along with kingdom come were all zeppitators aka wannabes.
