    Do you want to know what I deem to be the saddest part of this tragedy?
    There are no indications that Sauron played a role in what transpired. Just people despising others just for having different origins, relatives killing relatives, and people of a once proud nation fighting and killing each other.
    Was this vestiges of Morgoth's corruption? Or was there always evil in the hearts of Men?

    Now I can finally see where GRRM got the Blackfyre Rebellion

  • @NOIDEAIWILLJUSTUSEHAILEYIGUESS

    This also makes Dol Amroth's pure numenorean heritage hit different, as they likely supported castamir during the kin strife, even though the lords of Belfalas at that time were not known as the Princes of Dol Amroth yet.

    • @DraconimLt
      @DraconimLt Рік тому +6

      I dunno, I doubt Eldacar would have just let them keep on ruling if they supported Castamir, and not all of the pureblooded Dunedain were on Castamir's side. Besides, Castamir's 'loyalist' army fled and became the Corsairs of Umbar, so at the least they didn't fight for him the second time. So it's more likely that the Dol Amroth line either didn't side with Castamir at all, eventually saw Castamir for what he was and sided with Eldacar when he returned, or kept out of it entirely.

    This video has blown me away! Thank you so much for taking the time to make such an in-depth video with so much art for every aspect and character. Gondors such a long complicated history that I have always struggled to understand how Gondor really gets from the Fall of Numenor to what we see in Lotr. It is way more fascinating than I expected!

    One of three great destabilising and destructive events that along with Easterling invasions and great plague would drain Gondor of resources and manpower and start it on its road to decline and stagnation that we would see in said kingdom at the beginning of the war of the ring.

    As a Civil War re-enactor I'm always intruiged by the Kinstrife and its legacy. Both in Britain and the US the lasting effects took external warfare to bring the nation back to being united and comfortable with itself again, one woders how this went for Gondor (and did they learn _anything_ from the division of Arnor, apparently not!). The net results of political mistrust between the provinces and the loss of trained and experiuenced manpower must have had an additional effect when, 200 years later, the Plague hit and the watch on Mordor relaxed and was abandoned. One does wonder where Gandalf may have been during the period, what acts of mitigation or hope may have been inspired that resulted in Eldacar's ability to hold on and rally support after the sack of Osgilliath. Indeed, one of the chief treasures of the Dunedain was lost, a stone perhaps 3 feet across falling into a navigable river, it always seems strange that there is no implication that anyone looked for it and simply assumed the loss.

    • @Rellana1
      @Rellana1 Рік тому +1

      Maybe Castamir didn't care enough to look for it,even if he knew it was there? The Palantir would be been a closely-guarded secret I assume.

    • @andrewfanner2245
      @andrewfanner2245 Рік тому +1

      @@Rellana1 The existence of such would be a matter of lore and great pide I'd have expected, at least in the families more into the "pure Numenorean" ideal and Castamir would fit that bracket, it is after all the reason for starting the Kin Strife in the first place🙂

    What-if video idea for you to do:
    What if Gandalf never fell at the Bridge of Khazad-dum and continued with the fellowship to Lothlorien and on forward?

    Folks will say that Númenor was the greatest realm of the mannish peoples, but me? I say it was Hithlum, where our heroes' ancestors were forged in the war against Morgoth.

    It would be really nice if you made a film about the fourth and fifth ages in Middle Earth. You have a lot of ways to do it. New Empires, Kingdoms, wars of people against people, extermination of mythological creatures. The development of paper, technology, old cities become ruins, and new cities and new kingdoms rise in new locations. At the end of the fifth and the beginning of the sixth age of Middle Earth, gunpowder appears, and later colonialism. It would be very interesting to see ARDA in the 21st century.

      As stated above middle earth is entirely implied to just end up being the modern world. Its supposed to be a legendarium or creation myth to challenge actual religions.

      In a really obscure letter, I think Tolkien said that we're supposed to be in the Seventh Age? So like the Sixth Age would be Before Jesus or something, and the Fifth would be before the Biblical Flood maybe, so the Fourth Age would possibly end in another world breaking event, or as I like to think it, the slow decline and shifting of the world until the line of the Kings finally ends, Gondor falls in obscurity, and the last elves disappears from the earth.

    One of the tragic things about this war other then what I previously mentioned was the loss of bloodlines, casualties that Gondor couldn't afford to pay and the destruction of osgilliath And loss of it's seeing stone as well as the destruction of the joint thrones of elendils sons

      You wouldn't believe it. Gondor's Eastern border is weaker than ever before. They are emptying out their prisons and mental institutions in Mordor. And they're sending them here. When I was King, I spoke to a messenger from Minas Morgul. I said, I want you to station 28,000 Easterlings on the other side of the river from Osgiliath. My remain in Mordor policy worked. And since the Stewards have been in power our way of life is ending. Together we must Make Gondor Great Again.

  • @TarMody

    It is clear that this civil war was due to the impurity of Númenorian blood in the dynasty of Gondor. By this logic, when the Black Númenoreans mingled with the Haradrim in Umbar, there should have been an internal conflict between them, but it didn't. Therefore, other factors may be present as well.
