Utterly beautiful.
Bishop is pretty underrated for an Ace Combat protagonist. Barring the cheesy Michael Bay-esque crap we had to deal with, his attitude can fit the player nicely.

This could essentially be Bishop's "Ace Combat Trial by Fire." Having Mihaly be his opponent is a nice touch. One veteran testing another, to see if the latter is truly worthy of being part of the Ace Combat family after an initial era of being considered "one of the black sheep".

All I know is: Assault Horizon was actually a pretty good game in its own right, it was WAY better than any "Call of Duty" game, that's for sure. But it paled in comparison to the other ace combat games which were downright PHENOMENAL, that, and it's gameplay took a notably different direction than what is to be expected for an ace combat game, which got it hated. What the haters don't realize is that "less" isn't the same as "different". That and as someone who is "mildly" religious(I figure there's a god, but I could care less about the details, and I tolerate other religions just fine), the whole thing with Bishop being warned of what's to come in one of his nightmares is a nice touch.

I sometimes find myself wanting to play assault horizon again.
It was the first AC game i ever played, having appealed to me in 2011 when i was a member of the CoD crowd. For what the game was, i thoroughly enjoyed Assault Horizon. I liked the cinematic feel, and i like the fact that Bishop can at least speak. I can't bring myself to hate it like the rest of the Ace community does.
But for real though, as hood as Bishop is, he'll still cone nowhere close to Trigger, Mobius, or Cipher

Ace Combat Assault Horizon voice acting is just amazing
I always liked Ace Combat AH’s decision of actually having the guy you play as be visible and have a voice, though overall the story and gameplay sucked, I always liked Bishop.
You know... the background Lore will be incredible, a US expedition to the world of Strengereal and they contact F. That is, negotiations are carried out in secret, in a good faith deal and knowing how their situation is so they can focus on the diplomacy with the 2 worlds... they send an air squadron to fight, it sounds strange but I don't know that occurred to me, someone else would do it better than me

i recently played through almost all ACs in a simpit, and AH held up way better than i remembered, worst parts were the rotorcraft missions, but DFM didnt feel terrible on a hotas, in particular pulling enemies into the hud for a guns track seemed alot cooler than i remembered

Fun fact: When Illich is shot down by Bishop in the hurricane mission, his last word is "Молодца" (Molodtsa). While this isn't subtitled at that particular moment, other Red Moon pilots say it as well in earlier missions. The game has it as "good kill" but a more accurate translation would be "well done." Makes me think Illich felt some guilt for betraying Bishop.
@@CatGoon67 Ah yeah, I always love that one line from Illich, I do believe that Illich still see Bishop as a good companion and also fine adversary, with that said, him saying "Well done" is actually genuine and he expresses his happiness flying with Bishop even in his last moment. We could hear from the radio chatter between him and Bishop that Illich knows his days is numbered bit want to have one final fight with his own companion that fought with him till the betrayal
Illich have his fair share of hate, but he doesn't have anything towards Bishop and co., He simply want to die in a hand of one he once called a friend and that's why I love Illich

Assault horizon is still one of my personal favorites
I think Col. Bishop deserves to stand with Cipher, Grim Reaper, Blaze, Talisman, and Trigger. Assault Horizon's story aged like wine. NATO's Ace Combat team deserves some love.
