If the tripod isn't level because you tipped the front leg up doing a rough polar alignment without using a wedge will it track better? Thnx

Hello ken. I've been thinking on buying the orion starblast II 4.5 equatorial telescope but the problem is im living along the 7 degree latitude and I've checked the specifications of the telescope on your website and it mentions that the latitude range is 14 - 70. Does that mean that i can't polar align the telescope with Polaris? Any help and suggestions please?

Hello! So the problem is that at 7 degree latitude you would have to move the polar axis so low that the counterweights would start bumping into the tripod or some other part of the mount when it's down that low. We wouldn't normally recommend this but if you're feeling experimental, one thing that might help is setting up the tripod so that it isn't level. If you were to lower the south side of the tripod so it is 7 degrees out of level (tipped to the south), then when you set the latitude at 14 it will actually be pointed up at 7 degrees in the sky. Normally we wouldn't recommend having a tripod far off level because it can be unstable/unbalanced and could fall over, but 7 degrees is kind of a grey area and something you can try if you'd like to experiment.

Wanted to say Ken is the best, I have had many telescopes, goto scope, and my favorite, 4.5 dobsonian, the best orion has, you can see things most won't say they saw, I am big G nasajpl hates me because I show the alien city's in antartica, are moon has huge city's, but you must take videos, then slow them down, many times, take screenshots, of you clips, edit the shots in color, then edit in black and white, you will see the moon structures, telescopes are the way we see the truth, get a telescope, edit your clips, get ( IR) camera, optiscope on amazon, point up to zenith, and watch the ufos fly over your head, conclusion, orion telescope have opened my eyes, to what is right in front of us all this time , be wise, be careful, nasa jpl are all bad, bobak is a conman for nasa, I show ufos from my orion telescope, and they , can't tell you or there story just shows holes, I'm big G clear skys
