It is! I can’t believe I didn’t realize it was an option. Since it takes less pages to print a book and is more lightweight, I imagine it would be cheaper for authors to stock inventory and ship signed copies to readers.

Ingram Spark is intimidating and the cost is off-putting for me. But even if I could afford it, the returns situation scares the living crap out of me. I couldn’t afford those fees. Maybe one day I’ll be able to use them. This video was very informative and it’s so great that they sent you all that stuff.
Your videos have definitely helped me and you’re amazing. The fact that you still do this to help up and coming indie authors when you don’t have to is great and very much appreciated.
It is intimidating, but I think just because it’s something new. Also, when you’re a member of Alli, I think it’s $80-$125 per year, you get 5 free codes per month to put your books up on ingram or make revisions. Usually people don’t use all of their codes so it’s super beneficial to be a member just for that. Secondly, you can turn off returns. It’s your personal decision and not a requirement. Bookstores may not be willing to stock your books, but if that’s not your goal, then no biggie. It’s good to be there because it allows international readers to grab your book on websites in their country.
I can say, to date, we’ve never dealt with returns and we’ve been there for years with them enabled. It’s another avenue to make money instead of leaving it on the table! ❤️

@@TheCourtneyProject It really is and that’s good to know that you can turn the returns off. I’ll look into Alli. I always forget the other benefits of something. Like just because right now getting into bookstores isn’t high on my list doesn’t mean I can’t use IngramSparks to try to reach more international readers and the option to get into more libraries and subscription services is a goal for me. Thank you again for this video. I’m going to do some more research on this distributor and see if it’s something I can do ♥️

Haha yes, well kinda! It’s 35 minutes away from me in one of our malls, close to the only Barnes! Lol, I live in one of those towns where we don’t have big bookstores, I have to drive! Each time I walk in, I go to the F’s just to make sure our books weren’t traded in and to rescue them. 😂😂
Good to know. Checked out Ingram Sparks' website and what they offer sounds good. The price doesn't seem unreasonable considering what you're getting. The different shades of paper did show up on your video. I like the eggplant best.
I think I participated in an ALLI Zoom convention a couple of months ago and that the members communicate via Twitter. I might join once I'm closer to publishing. 📕

Thanks for the information on Ingram Sparks. I looked into them before and got a little intimidated, but hearing that you've had a good experience with them makes me feel better about trying them out. Also, the eggshell pages look amazing! Personally, I love that color more than the white pages because it's easier on my eyes. (I'm autistic and so I get overstimulated a lot with bright white pages, which is why I mostly read ebooks with tinted pages and a dimmed screen.) 📖

LOL, thank you so much! I’ve seen people say they’ve had issues but I’ve never personally experienced them. We’ve published over 50 books over there with our special editions and boxed sets since they’re the only ones who allow over 1000 pages for a 6x9. Have I been frustrated with them? Absolutely, but I’ve also been frustrated with every other platform at some point too. Lol, I think that just comes with the territory.

I mean lol Need I Say More???? lol I am so freaking proud of you Court! Ingram doesn't reach out to just anybody. So, not only are you a REAL youtube, you are a REAL QUALITY Authortuber! lol. I believe this calls for a celebration. Maybe a large cup of coffee in your new Ingram mug.
Ingram has stepped up their game though those are some fancy writer goodies! And the eggshell pages give a more professional look. In the past, there would be a ton of free promo codes for hesitant authors, but I haven't seen any of late. So, maybe they paused in the panorama. I admit though I have been considering switching to KDP for the hardcovers as they're free to use. But then you lose the dust jackets, and I'm sure Ingram reaches more international locations.

Oh, I learned they had gotten rid of their general codes because people were abusing them. Now you can still get them (mostly through professional organizations like Alli) but they expire after 30 days. And you have new codes generated each month. Kinda cool because you don’t have to search the internet for random codes, like you know yours are going to work bc they’re assigned to you! ❤️

Oh that's super cool re Instagram. I was wondering because it used to be easier to find like 50% off or even free coupons around Nano and Christmas times but I noticed the decline.
I didn't know what Alli was. Had to google it. That's super cool. I had ni clue there was an association for Indies. I'll have to check k them out a but more.
@@skyewinterbooks yeah! And they’re not super expensive to join either. I can’t remember the price but I think it was around $125 per year? I think? And what’s cool is, you get 5 codes per month. To pay for that out of pocket on ingram, you’d spend that in one month. They have a lot of other discounts available too and offer help with things. It’s neat!
