    I always find it amazing how some websites, books, blogs, even cisco's documentation can write up pages and pages or make hour long videos to expalain things like these when all it really needs is a simple analogy such as this. This has really knocked down a massive wall i was up against. Big thanks Kev (Time to subscribe hehe)

    Hi Kevin, Thanks for this video but still I am confused how policing is different with shaping. It will be really helpful if you can demonstrate some practical implementation like GNS lab.

    Thank you Kevin for posting this video. Your analogies are always great!! Around 6:50 you start talking about Bc and the fact that it is 8000 bps. You didn't really mean bps right? Just 8000 bits sent at line rate or maybe even 8000 bits per 62.5 ms?

    Hey Kevin - love the videos, but I am still a little confused by the appropriate burst rate for a given CIR. I see there are other posts on this as well. So are you saying that if you set the Bc on a 20Mbps line to 8,000 bytes then the switch or router will automatically adjust the Tc to accommodate an even traffic flow (send every 400uSec?)

    Awesome video dude. You said that Frame relay divides a 1 second time slot into 8 giving 125 ms for 8000 bits to run. I want to know how a 1 second time interval is divided by multi layer switches such as 3560, 3750, 6500 switches. and even a router like any ISR or ISR G2.
