US can create monies by simply printing it - and it can be printed against natural resources (shale oil, timber, etc.) AND still retain a reasonable value due to the ultra-competitive marketplace, lots of natural resources to back it up, and the use of digital currencies (in a hybrid environment with paper cash) to control inflationary factors. Quite a far cry from the Zimbabwe money-printing fiasco because of these differences.

You need to understand that most of the US debt is held by domestic investors. So while the problem is not small it is not as scary as it seems.

Am disappointed the story about the US national debt was reported in a common, misleading way. I haven't read or heard Jamie Dimon's exact quote but the 60 Minutes interview with US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is a fair assessment...
He said that there is long term danger but was careful not to say that there is an immediate, short term or intermediate danger.
That is because in times of low interest rates, the debt is very manageable and even makes sense because if the debt is used to enhance GDP growth like in the early 2000's, the economy actually makes money. In times of high interest rates like today, if GDP is not compounding annually at a correspondingly high rate, then as debt becomes due (and not before) the debt gradually doesn't make sense to re-finance and so should be paid down.
So, there are several concepts in play here that the audience should understand...
There is no immediate danger of the US defaulting on debt. Most debt is in 10 year Treasury notes although a little bit is in shorter term notes and more is in longer term notes, up to 25 years or so. Just like a personal loan to buy a house or car, there are debt obligation payments but the total debt isn't due to be paid until many years from now. In the meantime, the US economy is currently about $24T and growing at a compounded rate of about 2.5% per year and current debt obligations on the National Debt is about $240B per year. The US can easily pay that annual debt obligation instead of refinancing that debt if it wants to.
And BTW
Yes a large amount of this US National Debt borne by the US taxpayer is being spent on things like the DoD military to provide services to the world like policing international waters to ensure free passage, international aid, support for international institutions that provide financing and discussion forums for the global community and so on.
Rarely does anyone thank the US for providing these global benefits for all that choose to participate in the World Order mostly free of charge (or at most a deep discount like NATO). In bygone eras, Empires like the British Empire demanded payments from colonies for being part of that empire but the US doesn't operate that way. Countries across the world enjoy benefits relatively free of charge in an American hegemony that is not an Empire.
