I downloaded these papers about a year ago, and man are they funny. I don't think it was all of them because I only had about 6 or 7. But it sure was fun reading them.

As a STEM graduate, I would have been furious had any of my lecturers or tutors had asked me to write down my feelings about anything! That would have been a complete waste of my time and money. Total madness!

As an undergraduate doing an arts degree my experience is that about 60% of our scholarly readings are of the Neo Marxist/Postmodernist type where logical argument is subservient to emotional indignation at the oppressed/oppressor world view.

When I was in my late teens, growing up with a mother who read feminist journals, I used to play around with this idea for a paper that would be called something along the lines of "The purpose of feminism in a utopian non-male society". It would be meant as a satire of these absurdly ideological studies they used to publish as hard scientific fact. The hard scientific fact always being some variety of the overarching fact that white cisgendered straight males are an evil that needs to be overcome in order for society to become a safe and just environment. The evidence usually consisted of some cherrypicked results from a study with a tiny number of participants. If there was any evidence at all, rather than it just being presented as fact without evidence of any kind.
A hardly especially intellectually gifted teenager like me could spot the flaws in their argument from a mile away, and yet there was (and to a worryingly large extent still is) a respected branch of academia fully endorsing this approach to gender studies. I applaud the creators of this hoax for making my point in a far more eloquent and striking way than I ever could have, not then, and not now.
