Haha I came across your 35mm video and said "this guy looks really good" and so I clicked on the channel and this was the first thing I saw. Great stuff!
Haha great to see you here my friend! Thank you for your kind words 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Another great use of back focusing button
A handy tip: If you have access to a gimbal head (like the kind for wildlife and sports) and tripod, mount the camera to that and you'll have a much better stitched image due to the shots being taken at a fixed point.
Interesting! I had not heard about this idea before. Thanks.
It’s definitely a fun one for portraits! Give it a try!
The photos look amazing!!
Beautiful results! Love this lens.
Thanks! Yup, love that new fifty!
I used to do this a lot back in the day. Love the method.
Inspirational!
Haven't gotten to see if you mention this yet, but one warning to people trying this: If you shoot a lot of images, a 50mm gets very wide very quickly, which can cause hard-to-pre-visualize distortion. 85mm and longer tends to be easier to deal with.
Thanks for sharing all the insights! Yeah, couple of years ago I tried only shooting 85 and 135, but this time around I wanted to try with 50/1.2. And what was the longest lens you ever shot Brenizer with? :)
Great vid as always 😊
Thanks David 🙌🏻🕺🏻
Wow, thats cool. Definitely gonna try that out.
Have fun!
Okay this was stunning!!!
Pretty cool technique, right?! Let me know when you try it with your 50GM!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer I may be a little ways off that yet lol… only just started my propa camera journey! Would love your feed back on my recent videos where I went out with that lens!
I think the panorama is a great way to get images for website banners. I’ll have to try your trick! Picked up my 50 1.2 a few weeks ago and love it, too!
I thought about this too! Try it out and let me know how it goes!
Found this video looking specifically for a bokerama shot with a 50mm f/1.2, because I'm going to get a 50mm f/1.2 GM very soon. Those samples look great! I just tried one with my 35mm f/1.4, and with 4 photos, I got the equivalent to a 25mm f/1. Had also tried cityscapes with a 135mm f/2 stopped down to f/2.8 before, to reduce vignetting, and that photo was absolutely amazing. Will probably try one like that again using a 135mm f/1.8 wide open, for a more pronounced effect. I didn't have lens corrections available back then for the 135mm f/2, but now I do. :)
I tried this with my 300mm f/2.8. It came out pretty good.
Ah I wanna see! Send me a dm on Instagram @magicweddingphotographer
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Ok but we warned, my skills aren’t as good as your’s are.
Nice, didn't think about one man portrait, but did group portrait with 1 Light source to Light all People. Came out very good
Nice video and effects. I'm curious about the Sony 50GM. I recommend trying this out on the 85 or even better the 135GM. Also if you're on PC I recommend trying out Microsoft ICE to do the stitching when shooting a lot of images (better with the longer focal length) as it's much faster and has better projection options.
Great video!!! What's the red bracket on your camera?
Hi great video! when you take the shots around your subject I assume you use the focus hold button? Will try this technique with my Sigma 105 f1.4 ^______^
Now I want the 50 1.2
I send apologies to your wallet :P
Did u use vertical or landscape orientation?
I have a question on why most photographer prefer to used prime lenses like 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm etc instead of having zoom lens like 16-105?Is there any advantage?
Prime lenses are sharper because there are less groups of glass and mechanics inside.
Hey man, I tried it with my 50mm 1.2 but it doesnt work out at all. I tried it with MF, with AF Single and with AF Continous but always the focus ist not working out. How do you do this? Please explain how you get your wife in focus? Each of my photos is focused but as soon as I make a panorama out of it with the Perspective Option in Lightroom there is no Focus left in the final panorama.
How did you calculate the aperture and the focal length of the panorama?
The 50mm GM is the best 50mm f1,2 out there.
It doesn’t have the canon colors like the canon rf 501.2 😁
@@charismaticrell4206 It has better colors.
I personally haven’t notice any major color rendering differences. I think that Sony 50 is technically superior, with faster and quieter af system in a smaller package. But both produce great image :) I’d say - Sony for Sony users and canon for canon users 😂 If someone shoots both systems I’d get 50/1.2 for Sony and would keep canon for the big zoom :)
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer is the sony a 50mm or really a 47mm.
@@kifley19 It's probably just focus breathing.
Wow, nice idea @Magic Wedding Photographer, I definitely try this out! Look, I have one question for you, off-topic though... Since I was wondering about one thing for some time and I can't find the answers on the web, so since you are Sony Ambassador - you are the closest source which I "know". the question (FYI I am shooting sony a7iii) what does stress camera more? Saving both cards Raws or Raws and Jpegs. And it is not related to a buffer itself, but with my thinking process, generating a Jpeg is more stressful for the processor itself, am I right? So bottom line - if space is not an issue, but the long life of a camera (processor, heat, high temperatures) it is better raws on 2 cards or raw+jpeg?
Thanks in advance! Sorry for this random question, but you seem quite trustworthy in this matter.
Artur.
Oh dude, I have no idea! But I’ll ask around :)
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Thanks man! Yeah I know, it is quite tecnical question and you can't find a reasonble answer in the web... Cheers Magic!
I think what you have to do is not move your camera like you did but just shift the lens up/down and left/right to the sides, but don't tilt the camera so that you don't get perspective distortions.
Yeah, I tried that too. I’ll experiment little more with different techniques. But also shooting from one spot (not moving your camera, but just pointing in different direction) is more like shooting with one lens, you just get wider angle of view which creates natural perspective distortion I think.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Pretty much be a human lens-shift mechanism so to say.. lol
It's hard to avoid perspective distortion with a 50 because it doesn't take that many photos to make it a VERY wide equivalent. But this can be super-effective with as few as 3 images.
Hello! How do you solve the autofocus? Greetings from Mexico
Hey Dude! I tried it two ways:
- af-s, lock on the subject in the first photo and then shoot the rest with locked settings
- lock focus on first photo, switched to MF on lens and shoot the rest with MF
The second way was easier to me, but both worked.
Cheers!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Thanks!! 👍🏼
Hey, I thought of this technique a few days ago, but I sold a lifetime collection of Leica gear to finance the purchase of Sony stuff. My 50 f/1.2 has arrived but I’m still waiting for my @1, so I haven’t been able to test the theory. I’m delighted to see that it works.
Hope you enjoy the lens… I know I do 🙌🏽
You don't have heating at home ?
I wonder how this will look with my 85mm 1.8
Try it out and let me know! I never tried it with 85mm
Manual focus?
Hey Albert
So! I tried it two ways:
- af-s, lock on the subject in the first photo and then shoot the rest with locked settings
- lock focus on first photo, switched to MF on lens and shoot the rest with MF
The second way was easier to me, but both worked.
Cheers!
Man.. f1.2 is just too much .
