- When two twin brothers Sudhir and Adhir get orphaned upon the death of their father, Magistrate Chaturvedi adopts them and brings them up like his own children. Though Adhir goes insane after the death of his father, Sudhir picks up the opportunity, studies hard and becomes a doctor like Magistrate Chaturvedi's son Prashant. When Prashant gets caught for performing an illegal operation, Sudhir takes up the blame to repay the debt of the Chaturvedi family on him and his brother. Watch to know if there's light at the end of the tunnel for the honest and sacrificing Sudhir.

It never feels that Amitabh Bachchan is acting in the movie. He is probably playing his real self: a carefree, full of humour, decent, humble, extremely good looking and smart man. Hats off to the one and only, the true Shahenshah of Hindi cinema.

This movie and Amitabh Bachchan's character had too many layers...having a disturbed childhood he had many personalities like flirt, a strong friend, protector, at times evil revenger ...he would basically give everyone back as he or his love ones were ever treated .....In childhood he did ones a wrong thing to Vinod Mehra by stealing his homework books but Vinod frgave him that turn him to a better family person and even later a doctor...so in the end when Vinod Mehra did the crime ....he returned his courtesy by taking blame for his crime and in turn Vinod Mehra understood his mistake and started becoming better person by living as a real doctor in a small village.......agreed there are non ethical elements too shown....he cud hv killed Aruna Irani but since she was a nice person too so he just fainted her and put her in train ......later took all the blame to save his God Father, his Friend and Sakhis reputation....!

Just think real hard. Think what kind of movies Anil did and what kind of movies Vinod did where he showed a strong performance. I can't think of any. Think about Amol palekar who was not good looking like Vinod,yet the movies he performed those still touches our heart. He was so simple yet performed so graciously.

The opening scenes of the doctor going to villages, travelling on rough terrain - this was/is a fact of many conscientious doctors in India who took/take the trouble to help the needy - RESPECT and salute to all of them.
That was indeed a generation of people who had become doctors just for service to the nation. My dad did the same. Going to tribal areas in rickety jeeps.
Those were the days of beautiful and meaningful movies... Now a days... sorry to say...movies are just put together in a haste...and more than often turn out to be really boring..and meaningless.. thanks for sharing..
