First, I would look at my network speed & duplex to make sure you are getting the throughput to the computers. Meaning, 100/Full or Auto/Auto for example. Next, I would verify how your system is set up. Is it Thin client? Is it laptops? How many HMI servers ? You should have a HMI arch to easily see your layout. Without knowing this information, it would be hard for anyone to answer. I would think the lag isn't FactoryTalk view
If am not online with PLC controller yet and I am writing my Factory talk program offline, how would I call my PLC tags which are supposed to work with this program? thx
Just add the PLC name to the shortcut and add the PLC shortcut name to the tag you want to use. Just verify them when you get to the testing stage This video might better help answer that question: Re-Tagging a FactoryTalk Video Studio HMI Application for PLC Trainer | PlantPAX Simulation Code ua-cam.com/video/vRAGcqapI8M/v-deo.html
Is there a way to add an Acknowledge button which can only pop up on the screen during a certain step (eg step 14)? I was trying to do that but in the tags section, i couldn't find anything which i can select for the step number tag.

@@ShaneWelcher what I was trying to say is, i added a momentary push button, but I wanted that button to be visible when the machine sequence is on step 14, for that button to be only visible when the machine sequence is on step 14, i couldn't find the tag for it under the tags section.

@@ShaneWelcher Poorly worded question. I was working along as I was watching this video. Is it possible to lock the HMI outside of the factoryview environment so that all techs can access the pushbuttons on one central PC and not have availability and option to edit those buttons
Well, you said used the term "link" in so many places I've lost track of what was going on. Just being honest. Maybe some sort of outline in the beginning would help. Thanks.

Can I use a PC as an HMI? Can I also use the same applicator to toggle bits on multiple PLCs?
I'm using a laptop as an HMI so not sure why you have this question as my video is just about what you are asking

This was just a simple example of how to make a logic tag to communicate to a to FactoryTalk Site Edition HMI.
