Vangelis… One of the greatest artists of XX Century. Monastery of la Rabida Light and Shadow Pinta, Niña and Santa Maria The best songs of the best CD of the best musician. This os not music, this is a magical trip through sound… Thank you, Vangelis, RIP. Thank you, Hugo. Congrats from Brazil.
You are very good, Hugo! Perfect ! Approaching Vangelis isn't easy thing. Respect!!! You know him deeply! We all love the path, he opened for us, to find the Glory of music! Thank you, dear music lover!
This music is amazing. I was a teenager in the mid 90s and I fell asleep to this music multiple times dreaming of future aspirations and fantasies of the past being a crew onboard Ninã in 1492. Nourishment for the soul. Thanks for your amazing contribution to the art of music :)
What an amazing piece of work my friend. You hooked me to the end of the song and gave me goosebumps. "those choirs ..." Very good friend. Very very good!!
One really has to appreciate the time, dedication, skill and pure passion you have put into creating this cover of one of Vangelis finest works. Well done Hugo, and thank you for sharing!
This is awesome man, so very close to the original. Do you remember where you found the Clave preset for Dexed? I've gone through the default Dexed banks, but couldn't find it anywhere. I assume it's another 3rd part bank.
Once again you raise the bar on Vangelis covers. Simply amazing to see someone completely recreate this great under appreciated track. And as someone else here said, the whole album is just incredible.
La vuelvo a escuchar y no entiendo como puede haber personas que no aprueben tu versión. Por decir algo porque es prácticamente como escuchar al mismísimo Vángelis.
Conquest of Paradise was the first CD I owned when I was in my early teens. I don't know how many times I've listened to that album but it was many many...many times. This music is simply burned into my brain. When I listen to your covers they trigger that same burned in pattern, which is very rare for covers to be able to do. Outstanding effort. Vangelis should comment on this video as Brad Fiedel did ;-) Makes me wonder what you could come up with as a composer.... Vangelis and Fiedel might cover you :-D On a technical level your cover sounds more in the stereo field and clearer (more distinct and high frequencies). Working with today's technology instead of 1991's does that I guess.
Thank you for you kind words, much appreciated. I'll tell you something. I have an ear with an acoustic trauma, tinnitus and I can barely hear above 3Kh (mid-high frequencies), so I can imagine that what I hear is not the same you can hear, surely everything is brighter. As is only in one ear, the stereo field is almost nonexistent for me, can't use headphones, and can't really hear the difference when panning. So maybe, apart from todays technology, my deafnees is a factor.
I've been listening to the orginal since it came out. This one is very good! Not too keen on the amount of vibrato with the lead synth though, but that's my view :)
Thank you!! Yes, good observation. I couldn't find any convincing sample without the vibrato added to the sample, and finally used two samples that sounded fine but without full vibrato control.
Qué tal, Hugo. Necesito un cover de un tema del soundtrack de Alexander que no salió el cd oficial. Lo quiero usar para un video de un libro que escribí. Me puedes pasar tu correo para contactarte. Gracias.
WOW! Simply amazing work! You really nailed the pad/string parts which are very difficult to hear. At one point in the video you showed the piano roll for them, but it was cut off. Could you consider exporting the midi for these parts? I would really love to take a crack at it at some point, but I don't have the best ear for these quiet pad parts and I could never figure them out (apart from the general chord structure). Cheers!
Thanks dude!! Give me a little time and I'll post a link to the midi file. Nonetheless I must say it's just a guess, can't say for sure if it's correct.
Thanks for asking. In fact, there is. Three years ago my house collapsed due to an underground construction and we lost almost everything. No one was hurt, but it's been kind of difficult to recover our lives. I hope to upload something in the sort term
@@dasfaker Nice I wonder if you'll get to some of the tracks that are incomplete in the bootlegs (using my own titles for them: The Ride to Granada, The Sextant, Mules, Monastery of La Rabida (Film Version) A and B) Also I apologize for using the incomplete Dreams of Adventure 2 from your other video in my video "I put 1492 music over the Death of Gwen Stacy"
All those long hours of work were worth it buddy, you are good and we appreciate your covers very much, keep them coming please
R.I.P Vangelis, thanks for all the timeless music. A true genius.
Vangelis himself will have goosebumps when he hears this.
Massive respect, Hugo.

In a certain interview with Vangelis, he commented that chaos gave rise to his musical exuberance. Fantastic.

Thank you!! I agree with you, one of his best albums. Do you plan to make another of your great zyklus demos?
@@dasfaker Hmmm should probably pull that out again! Any tracks you think would be particularly good?
@@CinemaSynesthesia A great example would be "The Motion of Stars", plenty of Zyklus MPS tricks
@@dasfaker Ha that is a particularly gratuitous example! However not really a track I can imagine wanting to spend all the time to recreate.
