- Our first clutch of rat/corn snakes for 2019 is hatching!! All seemed to be going perfectly, until the last egg hatched... Although he may be deformed, he should still live an otherwise happy and healthy life!!

This video is actually really nostalgic to me. So when this video was fairly new, I found it in my recommended. And it was actually the first snake discovery video I’ve ever watched. To this day, I still get nostalgic watching it.

Myth in my town: Scaleless Snakes develop scales then they get absorbed by its body and that’s why it takes longer to hatch than a scaled.
I agree with others, Wishbone, for the last baby. Headstamp is totally a wishbone!

*edit THANKS FOR THE likes! it’s just outstanding the way Emily handled this, is the real grand slam for my son. “He’s so cute check him out he’s fine no big deal!” Is totallly what’s resonated in my son. This isn’t a thing to affect Emily’s very long waiting list so i know she’ll find him a fantabulous home, but we were just so thankful at how she handled this and my son has been beaming all day

Oh these guys are so cute! I'm so glad that your little noodle babies hatched out so well an healthy even though some were looking to having a harder time piping then others.
And I'm not *too* surprised about the scaled babies cutting out first before their scaless siblings. I think it might be due to their (egg tooth) scale being smaller/duller or absent all together making cutting out of their eggs a bit harder. My best friend breeds snakes and recently started breeding sacless corn snakes and ball pythons and from what I have seen so far they have a tougher time getting outta their eggs especially if the egg shell got tough or "thickened" from complications during incubation or what-not. Now the theory is not 100% because of course his third clutch to hatch the first one that pipped was a scaless, but it dose seem to be a trend, enough so he now makes sure to keep a closer eye on them and even cut a very tiny window in the egg like you have with your piping clutch here. IDK its a theory so far.

So my boyfriend proceeded to walk into the room when Emily said “We don’t know who the Father is.” Then the scale and scaleless talk continued. He was mortified I was watching some sort of reptilian Maury show… Not too off though to be honest.

Same! I've always been much more of a mammal person, but my fiance is allergic to dogs (and cats, but I'm more of a dog person) so we got rabbits instead.
But those little snakes are so cute and so friendly!! They remind me of our bunny, Seph (short for Sephiroth, because we are nerds; we also have a Cloud and a Tifa). Super friendly and curious and cute!
