This is an absolutely excellent build! For anyone feeling a result like this might be out of reach, you can do this as well! It might be a decent bit harder to do, but if you haven't got a hotwire or access to thicker foam to slice on the table you could do all of this with dollar store foamcore. Use 2 layers stacked for every 1cm thick piece, and 1 layer for the 5mm pieces; your lengths and widths would be the same and can still be easily cut by knife. Hell, if you don't want to buy the paper you can even do the pillars the same way with corrugated cardboard boxes if you've the patience to separate the paper and sand it down a touch.
Thanks dude, and yes to everything you just said 👍🏻🙂and if I may add... I always try to maximize the look with minimum effort/skill. Super cool build and probably the right call going with a decreased size. I like the different levels, creating more dephts and the fact, that its got a roof - for sniper-ambush-possibility. And - finally some moss-action again... felt kinda deprived, to be honest :- )
Thanks dude 👍🏻😀 working in layers of foam can often be the best way to get some nice depth. You have to disguise the layer lines with brickwork if possible but that wasn't an issue here . And I love doing abandoned or overgrown terrain that's long been forgotten, Moss is essential 😅👍🏻
This turned out fantastic! Always excited to see new builds. I'm also in the "wing it" camp of building stuff. I might have an idea of what I want to end up with generally but I like taking a look at something--some foam bricks, some coffee stir sticks, a few bits out of the bits box--and letting that creative impulse take over and guide me based on "oh this should be cool" rather than meticulously planning out a build.
Yes, I find a big factor for influencing my build can be "practicality". I generally always consider the fact that it needs to be stored somewhere, needs to be playable and not too cluttered, plenty of space for minis, and durable enough to withstand people touching it. Trying to balance all that, and then still make it cheap, easy to build and aesthetically pleasing can be difficult.
@@irongryphon Lol. That’s true, but you seem to mix it up with projects that could be used for Fantasy and Medieval Historical, which is something most people are afraid to try.
