Thanks for the video. There’s so much to this game especially for character creation/skills so it really helped me out. It took me until the 2nd dungeon to realize I didn’t even have spells equipped 🤣
ive like stormreach quests already.. and ran thru all of the content without using any spells, the game is too easy for me. im playing human barbarian need to respec tho, regret some ofg the decisions already :DDD but this game is actually not free to play... you need mount, airship.. and some premium content to actually get to endgame, and eventually there's still so many content locked. i dont know how much u get those DP points for free by playing, but Auction House was 100% with premium currency I guess thats how u get premium currency for free, buy getting a lootdrop wich you dont need, so u sell it on auctionhouse for shards. The Resurrection mechanic imho is so stupid... i think it means the game actually has no endgame, if t hey incenctives you to resurrect a new character constantly u can buy power oin the game, so whatever.... id rather pay monthly sub... this aside.. i actually like how it visually looks, it has that oldschool charm, and has aged well.. i remember how everyone hated how shit it was in 2006-2007 already... guess they have improved on shaders and graphics a bit over the years? havent played long enough to evne know, but does anyone know where to get bags ? ... if inventory slots are behind a paywall... im def not going to play a game from 2006 they want 100$ for expansion for a game from 2006 like rofl... got to be fckikng kidding me .
I logged into the game for the first time in years this week. (Had to download it first!) and it was Orien that I played on. It was nostalgic to see my characters again and to run around in stormreach and the marketplace too. A lot has changed, and it was very quiet. It used to always be busy with players day and night and there was always people fighting, testing out their skills in the pub but everything was empty, which was a bit disappointing. Since then I’ve been dreaming about gameplay (although I was always rubbish at it) and now I’m watching these UA-cam videos and reliving it all! 😁
Just started this game and liking it so far just wish I could make some of the UI bigger so it's easier to see, old eyes and all :D Now back to the video.
Great start, but don't start on any pre hit path on any character you intend to keep. Check out any new player or hardcbere build for advice. The paths were bad when designed at launch and have only gotten more and more painfully obsolete. Also pure human barbarian is a great first life build. Easy to play, will be similar to a 32 point build in practice, and won't be as slow to start as a pale trapper.
Is ddo still a zerg, self sufficient, in progress game? In other words, no old fashioned pugs, just solo, zerg or guild run? I started playing again...still zerg, solo guild runs.
Curious, if you have a Hireling does it affect your xp granted from questing or the random hunting off in the wilderness area? Do you get less xp since you have a hireling or summoned monster?
The only time that a hireling will affect exp. is when they are 4 levels over the quest level base, it's the same there as the player and you can't call a hire that is over your level so is still a non issue. Summoned monsters have no effect at all. Other players in with you can affect it if they are over level too. Re-entry while quest is still active, if you died/ or exited from server drop, will kill the exp. but you can just reset the dungeon on entry, it will start it over from scratch but better than the penalty. There aren't really any other ways to lose exp. {that I know of and been playing since day 1}.
As someone who has missed the boat on the information related to the DDOQUESTS code at the start of this video, what have I missed? Am I now unable to play those quests free or purchase them individually? Are they tied to a expansion pack or a VIP sub?
I think you can get them all with vip sub but not permanently unless you buy each quest pack. But yeah I missed it too and I've been playing for like 10 years and basically don't play more because it's expensive :/ they should just do this again to be honest >.>
i think fighter and barbv.. or melee classes are more versatile than casters. if you use those "Paths" , they are premade templates , they will include bare minimum lkevels of stuff needed... im human barb, that Kargon path.. and i have sneak, trip , search etc.. spot , havent had problems i think hidden doors are not essential, its just sometimes shortcut in a dungeon, or has chest behind it etc... sometimes u can smash thru obstacles... i think it requires cecrtain nr of STR , but if u dont have it.. there's workarounds
I mean, it's obviously entirely personal preference but for me I've yet to find an MMO that encapsulates all of the elements that I care about In a game more than DDO. Namely the depth of character customization, gear optimization, the crafting system and the whole mechanic of reincarnation. While I love that the game doesn't hold your hand I feel it really fails to explain anything to the new player in any kind of depth. The wiki is a great source of information but for most people they can only truly understand the game by following a vet around for hours on end. That's why I wanted to make some form of tutorial series anyhow. EDIT: I also very much agree about the paywall but I find that it doesn't prohibit a F2P player to attain the same level of power as a VIP who actively utilizes the store. Especially now that 95% of the games content is entirely accessible. Except maybe in the case of supreme tomes and other stat bonuses that you can't fully achieve for free.
Right now, almost nothing is behind a paywall. The F2P races and classes are just as good as the P2P ones, and most of the P2P ones aren't really P2P and can be earned in game by playing. Drow, Favored Soul, Artificer are attained directly through favor, and don't need to be bought even with your freely earned store points.
This is the game I keep going back to because it feels different somehow. I’ve tried WoW, Rift etc and they’ve felt very samey. I wish the graphics were better but 2006, ya know?
they dont play this over other mmos... the polayerbase is so small.. its baRely alive but yeah i wish people actually would... it almost feels like saingleplayer game :D i like how tehre's Narrator talking all the time whats happening, the start of the game was already more ngaging than WoW.. if u compare vanilla and ddo.. wow came out 2004, this game 2006.. but it never took off.. all the other mmos just died, beucase they didnt have the marketing budget what blizzard had.... so fell into obscurity
so many monetization systems and weird systems like resurrection in this game. well wiki claims, that people claim this is the most f2p friendly mmo out there.. that things can bve earned in game... questionable... i played like 5hours last night, still level2 i felt im playing WALKING SIMULATOR , cant even get a mount easily... if anything those daily dice rolls... can randomly drop mount i think
@@Microphunktv-jb3kj While you do not get mounts from daily dice, I am pure FTP and I have an average of 6 mounts on any toon over 4th, once earned on a server the mount is available to any new toons you create on it. {as Long as you don't wipe delete them all at one time}. Go to the Borderlands and run the wilderness area rares, with care can be done with a 1st level toon. {Won't stay 1st long though}.
Glad to see someone new making videos. First thing new players should do is not listen to anything Strim or Voodoo tell you. They live in fantasy land and are quite two faced. They can answer questions but thats about it.
Would you be willing to explain your comments about don't listen to Strimtom and Voodu and the two faced thing. I am curious why you feel this way. Both are VIP and have little to no knowledge on FTP but both have extensive general knowledge of the game and I don't see the reasons behind your comment specifically. Seriously curios.
most people if you do not hold their hand, answer all their questions, treat them like special snowflake, dislike you. they do not have the brain to figure anything out for themselves, i figure this is the reason..
Yea I trust anything STrim says as applying to a "OH I need that, spend big money and don't worry about actual play" and if you question him on HOW a game mechanic actually works you will be dismissed and told that "IT JUST DOES IDIOT" He's an asshole.
great stuff, DDO needs more content creators
Thank you! Much appreciated
Downloaded the game today. They have more free stuff now. Great guide btw

I myself pay for some stuff in ddo but I wished I had this guide when i started out when i was young. Great video!

Its a dead ass game populated with bots and dev families.

Lol. you can, there's ui scaling setting in the options...
@@Microphunktv-jb3kj I saw that but it's the small writing I had problems with and I couldn't get that to scale up
Awesome, more ddo videos is always great

How do you save
Nice channel, good luck!
What guild are you in as I just started this game for the first time. Im 50 yrs old so no drama lol.

Great idea that Im trying now. Could you give a link to the build..what you got at what lvl plz..thx
The link doesn't wk
Coupon doesn't work anymore
What kind of "This cupon works to end of 2021" You didin't understood?
WHAT HAPPENED TO CELIMAS IN THE LATE GAME??
This really reminds me of LOTRO
literally same company manages and keeps these games alive

how do other classes find the hidden door? how does the tutorial vary with each class?
get search skill 1 pont, it will show you hidden door.
i think fighter and barbv.. or melee classes are more versatile than casters.
