  • Clarification: in the video I talk about grade % steepness and slope angle of the road. i can easily measure the angle of a slope with the phone bubble app and it showed 9 degree which is roughly 16% grade. Meaning the scooter does exactly as advertised and can climb 15% grade (my weight 155 lbs /70 kg)
so rule of thumb: the grade % is about 2x slope angle.
    9/26/2024 update:
-though the segway ninebot G30LP and Y600 do have the same IPX4 rating it is clear upon detailed inspection that the ninebot is much mor careful crafted. all cable feedthroughs do have tight rubber fittings to prevent water damage to the interior. all cable feedthroughs on the Y600 or just a hole with very minimal protection. so if you plan to run the scooter in wet rainy areas this is not the way to go. for California probably ok.
-scooter also developed a very squeaky noise from the from suspension or stem. no lubrication helped
also still trying to fix the bad brakes but i have to give up with the existing setup.
btw.: all my remarks you find confirmed on the web. also the Y600 is basically mechanically identical to the kukirin M4 /pro, enyrid etc -
just very cheap parts are being used in this scooter and not much design considerations. if you want more info on the scooter quality please check out this clip

    NOTE:
    1. then user manual says to always start in gear 1 which is a good advice but it is funny because whenever you power up the scooter it defaults to gear 3.
    2. remember that the trip counter always resets to ZERO once the scooter is or TF100 is powered off.
    9/24/2024: updated the p-setting
First (sad) impressions of the Engwe Y600.
Summary from what i discuss also in the video
    works:
    1. speedometer agrees with GPS sensor within less than 1mph (good)
    2. suspension worked ok on the street (my weight 155 lbs)
    3. light, blinker and horn work fine
    4. foldability is nice compact
    5. has all needed tools included
    6. ignition key is nice idea
    7. up and down movable stem is good (but wobbly)
    8. USB port on controller works
    does not work:
    1. speed controller is terrible and does not allow a smooth control of the acceleration or deceleration. most terrible speed controller i ever encountered
    2. has no back emf or regenerative braking. this would also help out smoothening the ride especially downhill besides the beneficial charging effect.
    3. display of controller is unreadable in the sun
    4. front and rear disk brakes basically unusable. to harsh and jerky - does not allow for smooth braking or controlling of speed going downhill
    5. foot bed too short, especially with seat mounted
    6. stem too much angled toward back - gives one little room to stand with upright body
    7. stem is wobbly - not stable
    8. seat post wobbly and seat fixture wobbly too
    9. scooter cannot be turned on while charger is connected. that means no information about charging condition like having a percentage displayed
    10. rear wheel is unbalanced
    11. absolutely not kid's safe
    12. display is not visible in the sun
    neutral
    1. could easily climb the rated 15% hill so that is good
    2. reached 28 mph when unlocked and standing upright with fully charged battery. that dropped now to around 25mph when battery not freshly fully charged.
    3. weight is lower than many other scooters in the same class but maybe that is why it is wobbly
    4. climbed 15% with 7 mph and rider weight 155lbs
P (parameter) settings for the controller:
    P2 units: mile/km
    P3 battery system voltage
    P4 scooter shutdown min
    P6 wheel diameter in inch
    P7 number of motor magnets
    P9 Kickstart on/off
P15 max scooter speed in percent
    P16 cruise control on/off
    99 factory reset
    odO odometer reset
sadly no regenerative braking can be enabled

I took delivery of this scooter last week and love it. I sealed everything underneath that way i wont worry too much if i get caught in the rain. I agree with you about the jerkiness and how harsh the brakes are. I thought it was just me because im 45 and havent ridden a bike or whatever in almost 30 years. I do have another scooter coming next week so hopefully it works better than this.

thanks for the feedback. please keep me posted on the brake behavior of the other scooter. i went 2 days ago on a small 6% downhill grade and it is no fun with these brakes because you cannot control them to a reasonable velocity. the coasting settled at 15mph and i wanted 10mph - impossible. takes a lot of scooter fun away. i will be getting new pads tomorrow and hope it improves the brakes. i also have a funny annoying noise coming from near the front wheel, not sure stem or suspension - i lubricated everything with access to no avail. maybe need to through it on an oil bath :). how did you seal it? removed the metal pane? also plenty of holes in the cable feed throughs. oh i really wish eh scooter would have regen braking. not so much for the batter charging but for smooth braking.

@@es1951 I just took delivery of my Arwibon GT08 and boy this thing is a beast. Dual motor 5600w of power. I can turn on turbo etc. It's exceptionally fast and smooth and while coming down hills and putting the brakes on, it was smooth and I wasn't getting scared. I think the Arwibon scooter will be the only one I use from now on. I did about 18 miles on it and it was just fun.

@@ghostengineer sounds great. so you are saying smooth brakes :). how is overall quality compared to the Y600?

@@es1951 I'd say it's very well built. It's bigger than this Engwe. The thing weighs like 70 something pounds. So far I've been riding it around since getting it and I never feel nervous or anything coming down the hills
