Disappointing review of Engwe Y600 scooter with cause and solution to jerky harsh braking behavior
Переглядів 480Місяць тому
Clarification: in the video I talk about grade % steepness and slope angle of the road. i can easily measure the angle of a slope with the phone bubble app and it showed 9 degree which is roughly 16% grade. Meaning the scooter does exactly as advertised and can climb 15% grade (my weight 155 lbs /70 kg) so rule of thumb: the grade % is about 2x slope angle. 10/4/22024 very important update rega...

    Is it more safe being designed this way? I imagine if the scooter moves the very first press of the trigger you’re going to jerk forward. And if someone is on the fastest gear that could cause accidents.

      you are right that could be an issue and it is not what i suggest. please see my update. it is very common in manual controls for example to make the sensitivity exponential, that is all not a big deal to implement in software just takes a little bit of dedication which does not seem to be the case in many products at all these days. the TF100 was included in this order www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807752360336.html?spm=a2g0o.new_account_index.0.0.5e1f25b9So6SNv&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

    i replaced the brake pads for the front brakes with those www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDSCRJDK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title but sadly see no difference in the braking behavior. the new brake pads are 2 dot pads which should provide lower friction and less harsh braking. the original ones are 4 dot pads. i challenge all the expert scooter users with the following: pick a slope with 10-15% grade and try to control your downhill velocity to 9mph fixed by just using the mechanical brake. this is impossible with my Y600 scooter.

    I took delivery of this scooter last week and love it. I sealed everything underneath that way i wont worry too much if i get caught in the rain. I agree with you about the jerkiness and how harsh the brakes are. I thought it was just me because im 45 and havent ridden a bike or whatever in almost 30 years. I do have another scooter coming next week so hopefully it works better than this.

      thanks for the feedback. please keep me posted on the brake behavior of the other scooter. i went 2 days ago on a small 6% downhill grade and it is no fun with these brakes because you cannot control them to a reasonable velocity. the coasting settled at 15mph and i wanted 10mph - impossible. takes a lot of scooter fun away. i will be getting new pads tomorrow and hope it improves the brakes. i also have a funny annoying noise coming from near the front wheel, not sure stem or suspension - i lubricated everything with access to no avail. maybe need to through it on an oil bath :). how did you seal it? removed the metal pane? also plenty of holes in the cable feed throughs. oh i really wish eh scooter would have regen braking. not so much for the batter charging but for smooth braking.

      @@es1951 I just took delivery of my Arwibon GT08 and boy this thing is a beast. Dual motor 5600w of power. I can turn on turbo etc. It's exceptionally fast and smooth and while coming down hills and putting the brakes on, it was smooth and I wasn't getting scared. I think the Arwibon scooter will be the only one I use from now on. I did about 18 miles on it and it was just fun.

    • @ghostengineer
      @ghostengineer Місяць тому

      @@es1951 I'd say it's very well built. It's bigger than this Engwe. The thing weighs like 70 something pounds. So far I've been riding it around since getting it and I never feel nervous or anything coming down the hills

      @@ghostengineer that is great - i am happy for you. yes the Y600 is on the lighter side which i clearly like. btw i figured out the problem of he jerky harsh brakes. find the explanation in my update in the comment above.
