I love this video, and I'll go on a rant about it a little now, as I did with my friend group, where most of them agree on most of my points: These were the mere beginnings of For Honor. It had potential, and a vision. It went with it! The mid life of for honor, which would be between 2 and 3 years ago, was the achievement of that potential, with just.. many 'little' fixes needed all around. Many things were still broken, but it was shaping up to be something amazing. That's where I've played the most. Late life of this beautiful game (into which I've sunk over 1300 hours into, over the course of it's lifespan, since Y2, the old gear/item rework) is just them throwing all of those plans into the water because the community has been crying for years... They've turned a methodical, rarely-read based, mostly defensive, slow, meta, and, entire game, frankly, and all of their plans, into the water. COMPARED TO OLD FH - current stamina pressure is non existent, and stamina bar basically means nothing on most new and reworked heroes. NOW it's possible to get absolutely, slowly obliterated by a DOZEN attacks, all of which require prediction, and the attacker would still, after having killed you, have at least 20% of their stamina back. Insane. No fear or risk of doing that whatsoever, everyone turned their brains down to 2%, because it WORKS, and why wouldn't they. Rarely who now punishes such playstyles properly. Unlike before where starring duels and tension, and methodical mixups were more common. And if they failed, it was the enemies turn to stamina pressure you. "True combos" are now non existent and most of them last just 1 attack - why would a Cent, or JJ, or LB, now do wallsplat punishes like before, when they all just get an equally worth, but faster, heavy, with continued chain pressure? No sense. Granted, Warlord charging was changed, and for good. I ain't saying the devs didn't have some good choices, but, as my people say, "even a blind chicken can sometimes peck a kernel".. or something. I tried. Anyhow. Everyone is getting unified - everyone is getting a 500 ms dodge heavy (or better (headbutt)), everyone is getting a 500 ms opener bash, everyone is getting an undodgeable and/or unblockable attack, everyone's attacks are getting sped up, and animations all look choppy because they were made for a slower game, not this. The basic mechanic, being zone option select (I'm all for axing all of the others, but zone was a predictable, easily counterable defensive move, which just made a smart attacker have more stamina pressure (it costs half of the users stamina bar, basically)) was removed... Might as well remove the feint button at this point, not that anyone is using it. Also, power creep is insane. Gryphon, Warmommy and Kyoshin are some of the worst this community has ever seen.
