Password summons never should’ve been a thing. Summoning used to be two player’s worlds shifting together and being in contact for a short period of time. You had to be around the same level for it to work, which made sense. I mean it wouldn’t make sense for the world of someone who’s already beaten the game to merge with the world of someone who just started, they’d be too different for it to make sense lore-wise. Miyazaki’s vision for summoning used to be that you’d have two people at a similar point in the game who can’t communicate beyond gesturing at one another, which gave you the feeling of your worlds colliding for a short time, and made interactions unique. Now, password summons can be hundreds of levels higher than a host, with endgame gear, higher resistances, more stamina, etc. and completely destroy the PvE while being in full contact with the host and talking to them directly through a call. Yeah you could call your friend up and summon them before, but it wasn’t intended for you to play like that. And there was never a difference of a hundred or more levels between you. It was usually like five or ten at most. It destroys the vision for the game and allows anybody to cheese their way through it, and it makes invasions boring and frustrating since there’s never any honesty at any level. It’s pathetic and the phantoms are barely even downscaled.
He changed his vision, he clearly said that Elden ring was designed to be accessible. Understanding the combat mechanic isn’t mandatory to enjoy this game. Just exploration and the satisfaction of killing enemies in different ways is enough to satisfy the players who cheese everything. Elden Ring just isn’t the right souls game for invasions, it’s toxic for both sides you can clearly see it .
I gave up on ER haven't played it half a year. Never thought I'd get burned from a Fromsoft game yet here we are. I'm more interested in AC6 (a series I've never played) then an expansion to one of my favorite franchises in the last decade.

Elemental infused weapons with a weapons buff are so good when it comes to damaging pw summons at low level. Fire infused cgs with flaming strike buff actually does damage as it is high enough AR to not be completely negated by the summons' flat defence.
Try last rights with miquellan knights sword. at lvl 20 +0 its around 380 ar buffed. super fun for low levels. tho bad weapon late game. glad it at lease has a place.
I did a level 20 sorcerer build that basically only used carian slicer, piercer, and swift glintstone. I'd use a flask to get enough INT to use Zamors ice storm too and I was regularly beating the max level summons since they're so damn aggressive they'd basically walk into their deaths regularly. Was fucking hysterical
Yup, low level sorcerer is just nutty as an invader. It stands up well against the over leveled summons. The problem is that I'm usually one or two shotting host's depending on what I'm hitting then with. What's crazy is that this persists all the way up to beyond meta levels if you properly build a Sorcerer.
I have gotten hundreds of wins by just using poise tear and then stormhawk axe WA as soon as I spawn in usually it will connect 3 or 4 hits cause they don't even know to roll away
Low level invasions are in a weird spot, because on the one hand overleveled phantoms will absolutely destroy you, but most hosts who summon “honestly” (ie the vast majority of hosts) are new to the game and will die incredibly easily, and so low level tends to be pretty boring.
You forgot the 3rd part: twinks who need not be overleveled or even need late game weapons/spells. Put all your points into vigor, get a soreseal, get a bunch of flask upgrades and at this low level you are going to be near invincible, if you are a host you can even use rune arcs . That host in the first invasion? had more than 1000 hp.
For real tho. If you wanna play Elden Ring "hard mode", create a new character and turn the taunters tongue on. The amount of invaders with late game stuff that will try to poison and toxic you makes it a fun experience

It was a tutorial on how to be an orange phantom in ds1, where a guy puts on giant dad armor and gets a broken dragon great axe and puts his summon sign in front of the bell gargoyles. Dude just walks up to the trash mobs all slow and confident and just starts wailing on then for like 2 damage. Funniest shit I've ever seen.
the worst is when the host is twinked out with 99 of every status bolus so any advantage you could use with status proc is nullified and their max level summons will just chase you down they also tend to run around in starter equipment
No you don't. Just use infusions and get some talismans. I fuck up over leveled phantoms at level 16 bc I use +3 cold weapons and all 4 talisman slots.
I remember doing lvl 20 invasions in the first step and going vs two lvl 200+ players defending their little lvl 20 friend. Was the worst time i ever had going vs two people with max stats that had all spells. On top of the low dmg i was doing they even abused black flame protection against me as well. I was hitting literal 30s-40s
Passwords need to be only usable within the hosts level bracket to get rid of over leveled phantoms, and talisman slots need to be included in the invasion formula to prevent twinking

this was fun to watch jee, i think the best invasion bracket is around level 80, even though this video was goofy at times it was fun because of way less ash of war and spell spam and mostly just fundamentals
Honestly, I have a fun time playing at low level and getting invaded at random locations and fighting against the ridiculous stuff people bring as an invader, makes for some fun PvP when you’re on the receiving end
Yup, for all the bitching we do as invaders, I have witnessed what invaders being into these at low levels, and it's oftentimes even more sad than the over leveled summons. Invaders do have to be ready for anything but still...

I bought ds3 a couple days ago and yesterday I experienced my first point down after getting killed by a watchdog in the swamp, I wasn’t even mad because at this point I always expect to get defiled by another player when I get killed by them
Fun Fact: Samurai or Vagabond at RL30 can rock ~1400+ HP and 101 poise with the right gear and talismans, and still run anything up to the Claymore in weight. It's either more HP and only lighter weapons(PSSS, SS and buckler, etc) if you run Crimson Amber, or slightly lower(1380s-1400) and ability to wield Claymore/Bastard Sword/etc by using Erdtree's Favor instead. Soreseal, Great Jar, and Bullgoat talisman are mandatory for equip load and poise. There's one very efficient armor set for poise/weight ratio, and you swap the gauntlets for the Battlemage Manchettes which have the highest poise while still keeping you under the weight limit. Happy invading to anyone else who gives this a whirl lol.
Did a 40 Vigor build with the Damage Resist Tear, decent armor, and talismans, with the faith needed to cast the elemental defense buffs, and I was literally immortal except for status effect builds.

The best low level experience is around level 20-25 with +3 weapons. Believe it or not you can have a decent amount of build variety and not be to twinky. I would say I've spent the majority of my invations in this range and it is a lot of fun. Some overleveled phantoms are cancer though.
I honest do alot of low level because I like fighting sword and board and I like being able to hit someone more than twice and they not die on the 2nd hit but the amount of bs at low is brain melting
I love it when shitter ganks all wear the exact same armor, it basically confirms that they have basically zero personality outside of making invaders lives a living hell.
Low level invasion tips : Go bleed or poison, even if you do no damage, you can still proc. Use lava pot for chip damage. try to be tricky, you can't kill a high level summon, but you can still use gravity. Try to get max talismans, max estus and max pot, it will help when summons two shots you. I used bleed militia hallebard for close combat and ballista with explosive bolt at stormveil castle. If you fight against two low level levels, drop them some items and swap for more friendly weapons.
See, if you're gonna invade at low level, you need both soreseals and some cold weapons, along with a maxed out flask because those overleveled phantoms. If you run into a normal player, just make sure you're prepared with normal weapons and take the soreseals off.
Just use ashes of war that give flat AR like sacred blade and dragon scale blades ash, or helphens steeple. Only way to even out low level invasions vs gankers
I capped my invasion character at 26 with +3 weapons. Ive somehow made it to Melenia so i have all these talismans etc. You can really hold your own against the phantoms.
If you're going keep playing low level, i recommend you to get the dragon halberd, it the shortest one but it's AoW selfbuff with 160 lightning and frost buld up.
You complained about not doing a lot of damage, but you can safely upgrade your weapons to +3 and not overtune or bump you out of the low level invasions bracket

I'd have to assume the first invasion was that bad because of Godrick's great rune. If I'm not mistaken, flat defence increases with level so having the equivalent to 40 extra levels is probably why he was taking so little damage.
I invade at low level and yes, I am definitely mentally unwell. I don't know what came first, playing at this level or brain damage, but I do know they are very much correlated.
I like low level for the stuff you can get away with. like using the scythe 4 hit combo with blood flame blade. thats my favorite so far, its just too satisfying. dragon scale katana is really fun. Miquellan knights sword with last rights hits like a truck. ummm great stars with prelates charge and bloodflame blade is hillarious. And many more! and it overall feels more like dark souls pvp at lvl... i would say 80 or under. before everyone has 40 end with 100+ poise.
I wonder what that first team was doing? How much could they have been twinking? When the phantom died, he didn't drop many runes. Their armor wasn't crazy. Even if they had all 4 pouches, how much more absorption could they have?
If you're doing no damage, your build is lacking. Get bombs, get buildups for poisons/bleeds. Get concusive blows. Get a parry shield for duel wield spammers.
To keep things interesting in low level invasions I usually stick to meme weapons, goofy shit, hard but funny to land stuff, things that would just get you insta-killed trying to use later in game to hopefully show new people a fun time with the really out-there stuff the game has to offer, try to create a memorable experience for myself and some new coopers, because using the busted shit for everything ends up like seal clubbing essentially and is boring, a loading screen sim....but just in case I'm running into a squad of overleveled bullgoats and high level mages with all endgame shit just babysitting a host through the game mowing down the pve like grass, or sitting in the middle of nowhere trying to troll, I will whip out my Gankstomper 3000, 4000, and 5000 depending on how sweaty they are. I am twinked out when invading low level to have options, I just don't make it obvious. Anything that can grant large flat damage buffs can flip the advantage very easily from me being a minor annoyance playing pranks to a being essentially a field boss , so things like Dragons Halberd or the ice katana, night maidens mist, sacred blade/lightning slash/flaming strike, greases, spark aromatic, stormhawk, etc. are all good. Often need to wear soreseals and other stat boosters to fill our your slots to use the good stuff though. I go all the way through mountaintops at low level to get all the slots, and also max the flasks. It's challenging, but you become god in low level invasions with that investment.
That was just scarlet rot ticking. 6:55 you can see the parry for 805 vs his health bar. Looks about 1k which you can do at lvl 11 with hero using godrick rune, erdtree, crimson, radagon soreseal. Dropping erdtree is still about 982
Yeah the extremely high RL, bull goated, ash of war/spell spamming summons are impossible to deal with. Like it is literally not possible despite how fundamentally bad many of them are at the game. They are also some of the most toxic players in the game, sending hate mail or gloating about winning when they literally do 10x the damage you do.
I think they should give up on the scaling, and instead give us build storage. If you want to password summon you have to match the level of the host within its breakpoint. Have build slots for level 20, 50, 80, 100, 125, 160, etc. Set your character level and gear for each, and have the player choose which build is attached to the summon sign. No scaling needed
Low lvl invasions are re, they can get a godly phantom. We also can get 1000 damage with magic/faith If you get a lot of inteligence itens and meteorite staff you have great arsenal of spells and godly damage to this levels.
My first ever set of invasions in this game were low level dual poison bandit cs one with poison mist the other with moth flight. I went in under 2 assumptions. 1) poison works best at low levels 2) they'd have fixed phantom downscaling from ds3. I was wrong about both and eventually resorted to bullgoats dragon halberd and terrorised the low levels for a few weeks. But that got so boring i just went back to ds3.
It actually should be a mistake from your side cause i have an ok damage when i invade on those levels. And you xan actually upgrade you weapon to +3 an still be able to invade. So yeah it's definitely your problem.
Godricks great rune gives the equivalent to 30 levels, which is what the first guy was using. You can twink at RL 11 with it and tank all the way against RL80 in terms of raw scaling. Even with an unupgraded weapon, you can see in the second invasion and beyond where he's putting out SIGNIFICANTLY more damage than he was doing in the first. Even when he's complaining about doing "nothing" it's still significantly better than the first invasion

The host in the First Invasion maybe was the biggest noobs ive ever Seen on UA-cam. Also, yes you cant invade "normal" on this Level. You have to have three Talisman Slots and some buffs and talismans. There is nothing unfair when you are fighting against a 3 gank squad with great runes and dlc stuff. Get your self a good Long weapon, make IT +3, get Flame give me strength and the bestial life Gen and the fire crack tear, and If you can the Red knife to infuse your weapon. Some weapons can get a 600 + damage Output ob lvl 20. Bin
I've never gone below rl30 for too long. It's not that the invasions aren't good at times, it's just that I don't want to invade open world Limgrave scummery (especially on PC). Still, all of my low level characters have one status effect or another. Poison is the best because even people with boluses can't space enough to eat them, much less use the cheap incantation they seldom have. That's how it is. The game isn't gonna balance itself so we must help it along the way. This content is gold though.
"Low level invasion" just say harassing children/new players, everyone knows that's what you're all here for. It's to bully and to get satisfaction out of ruining someones life and breaking their spirit permanently. There is no other reason to do it.

I run a fire Claymore with Flaming Strike and 101 poise at RL30. It's my babysitter obliterator.

if you get the dragon halberd, ash of war ads 160 flat lightning damage and 80 flat frostbite so itll triple your ar

You have to make use of greases and status effects (mostly bleed or frost) at these levels, otherwise it's nearly impossible to win
Use a mage build with staffs that cant be upgraded. Also works decent.
Night Maiden's Mist is absolutely brutal at this level. Fia's Mist also works surprisingly often

Invade at level 5 and use poison. It's the only way, albeit still nearly impossible. That antspur invader knows what's up
I suggest the scale armor set, you can get it in weeping australia or whatever on the bottom side of the map so pretty early armor set.

rl30 +4 and rl50 +7 invasions are pretty comfy. And Carian Retaliation is great at these lower levels.

I sometimes dabble at low level and use lightning or heavy infusion. Helps having a +3 weapon instead of a +0 btw

The best low level experience is around level 20-25 with +3 weapons. Believe it or not you can have a decent amount of build variety and not be to twinky. I would say I've spent the majority of my invations in this range and it is a lot of fun. Some overleveled phantoms are cancer though.
The Dragon weapons (katana/halberd) deal amazing damage at low levels.
I honest do alot of low level because I like fighting sword and board and I like being able to hit someone more than twice and they not die on the 2nd hit but the amount of bs at low is brain melting

Low level invasion tips : Go bleed or poison, even if you do no damage, you can still proc. Use lava pot for chip damage. try to be tricky, you can't kill a high level summon, but you can still use gravity. Try to get max talismans, max estus and max pot, it will help when summons two shots you. I used bleed militia hallebard for close combat and ballista with explosive bolt at stormveil castle. If you fight against two low level levels, drop them some items and swap for more friendly weapons.
See, if you're gonna invade at low level, you need both soreseals and some cold weapons, along with a maxed out flask because those overleveled phantoms. If you run into a normal player, just make sure you're prepared with normal weapons and take the soreseals off.
Just use ashes of war that give flat AR like sacred blade and dragon scale blades ash, or helphens steeple. Only way to even out low level invasions vs gankers
I capped my invasion character at 26 with +3 weapons. Ive somehow made it to Melenia so i have all these talismans etc. You can really hold your own against the phantoms.
If you're going keep playing low level, i recommend you to get the dragon halberd, it the shortest one but it's AoW selfbuff with 160 lightning and frost buld up.

If I'm not mistaken, flat defence increases with level so having the equivalent to 40 extra levels is probably why he was taking so little damage.
You need your talisman slots yo. Also, going to +3 weapons makes a huge difference (+1 somber) that way you can invade hosts from +0-+6

I don't know what came first, playing at this level or brain damage, but I do know they are very much correlated.

I like low level for the stuff you can get away with. like using the scythe 4 hit combo with blood flame blade. thats my favorite so far, its just too satisfying. dragon scale katana is really fun. Miquellan knights sword with last rights hits like a truck. ummm great stars with prelates charge and bloodflame blade is hillarious. And many more! and it overall feels more like dark souls pvp at lvl... i would say 80 or under. before everyone has 40 end with 100+ poise.
I wonder what that first team was doing? How much could they have been twinking? When the phantom died, he didn't drop many runes. Their armor wasn't crazy. Even if they had all 4 pouches, how much more absorption could they have?

If you're doing no damage, your build is lacking. Get bombs, get buildups for poisons/bleeds. Get concusive blows. Get a parry shield for duel wield spammers.
How did the phantom with like 500hp get a Darkmoon greatsword, meteorite of astel but does the same damage as you with basic junk?
To keep things interesting in low level invasions I usually stick to meme weapons, goofy shit, hard but funny to land stuff, things that would just get you insta-killed trying to use later in game to hopefully show new people a fun time with the really out-there stuff the game has to offer, try to create a memorable experience for myself and some new coopers, because using the busted shit for everything ends up like seal clubbing essentially and is boring, a loading screen sim....but just in case I'm running into a squad of overleveled bullgoats and high level mages with all endgame shit just babysitting a host through the game mowing down the pve like grass, or sitting in the middle of nowhere trying to troll, I will whip out my Gankstomper 3000, 4000, and 5000 depending on how sweaty they are.
I am twinked out when invading low level to have options, I just don't make it obvious. Anything that can grant large flat damage buffs can flip the advantage very easily from me being a minor annoyance playing pranks to a being essentially a field boss , so things like Dragons Halberd or the ice katana, night maidens mist, sacred blade/lightning slash/flaming strike, greases, spark aromatic, stormhawk, etc. are all good. Often need to wear soreseals and other stat boosters to fill our your slots to use the good stuff though. I go all the way through mountaintops at low level to get all the slots, and also max the flasks. It's challenging, but you become god in low level invasions with that investment.

That was just scarlet rot ticking. 6:55 you can see the parry for 805 vs his health bar. Looks about 1k which you can do at lvl 11 with hero using godrick rune, erdtree, crimson, radagon soreseal. Dropping erdtree is still about 982
Yeah the extremely high RL, bull goated, ash of war/spell spamming summons are impossible to deal with. Like it is literally not possible despite how fundamentally bad many of them are at the game. They are also some of the most toxic players in the game, sending hate mail or gloating about winning when they literally do 10x the damage you do.

I think they should give up on the scaling, and instead give us build storage. If you want to password summon you have to match the level of the host within its breakpoint. Have build slots for level 20, 50, 80, 100, 125, 160, etc. Set your character level and gear for each, and have the player choose which build is attached to the summon sign. No scaling needed
Low lvl invasions are re, they can get a godly phantom. We also can get 1000 damage with magic/faith
If you get a lot of inteligence itens and meteorite staff you have great arsenal of spells and godly damage to this levels.

My first ever set of invasions in this game were low level dual poison bandit cs one with poison mist the other with moth flight. I went in under 2 assumptions. 1) poison works best at low levels 2) they'd have fixed phantom downscaling from ds3.
I was wrong about both and eventually resorted to bullgoats dragon halberd and terrorised the low levels for a few weeks. But that got so boring i just went back to ds3.
-Pro- Loser Tip!: Meteorite staves count as level 0 weapons.
Low level is better in terms of duration plus its fun actually using aow as a turnaround vs it being your only button.

And you xan actually upgrade you weapon to +3 an still be able to invade.

Godricks great rune gives the equivalent to 30 levels, which is what the first guy was using. You can twink at RL 11 with it and tank all the way against RL80 in terms of raw scaling. Even with an unupgraded weapon, you can see in the second invasion and beyond where he's putting out SIGNIFICANTLY more damage than he was doing in the first. Even when he's complaining about doing "nothing" it's still significantly better than the first invasion

The host in the First Invasion maybe was the biggest noobs ive ever Seen on UA-cam. Also, yes you cant invade "normal" on this Level. You have to have three Talisman Slots and some buffs and talismans. There is nothing unfair when you are fighting against a 3 gank squad with great runes and dlc stuff. Get your self a good Long weapon, make IT +3, get Flame give me strength and the bestial life Gen and the fire crack tear, and If you can the Red knife to infuse your weapon. Some weapons can get a 600 + damage Output ob lvl 20. Bin

I've never gone below rl30 for too long. It's not that the invasions aren't good at times, it's just that I don't want to invade open world Limgrave scummery (especially on PC). Still, all of my low level characters have one status effect or another. Poison is the best because even people with boluses can't space enough to eat them, much less use the cheap incantation they seldom have. That's how it is. The game isn't gonna balance itself so we must help it along the way.
